Every Tuesday while you're in the hospital, we'll take a picture with your pug so that everyone can see how much you are growing!
At two weeks, you are exactly the same length (when you're all curled up) as your pug!
Your first two weeks have been most excellent. You are amazing your doctors and nurses with how well you are doing. It hasn't been perfect, but you really couldn't be doing much better. You're vent settings are as low as they can be, you've pooped, and you have a brain (without any bleeding). :)
In the next week, we're hoping that you will be moved to the CPAP machine and will do well enough so that the vent will become a distant memory. We're also hoping that you can begin "eating" more breast milk so that you will start to really grow and thrive!
And, everybody, including your doctors and nurses (in hushed tones so the other babies and mommies and daddies don't get jealous) tell me that you are the prettiest baby in the NICU!
We love you!
Can you even say anything other than "AWWWWWWWWWW" when you see her? How cute, she has a pug just like the one she'll meet when she goes home!
ReplyDeleteIt still amazes me to watch the miracles in this situation as it unfolds before our eyes. We do serve a mighty King, don't we?
How cute is THAT!? And i'm finally one of the top 5 posts. Woohooo. Still lifting you guys and GIRLS up in prayer.

ReplyDeleteI never thought I would be so ecstatic about poop!
ReplyDeleteAnd the vent setting....as low as it goes!!! YEAH GOD!!!
And Gwyneth, the c-pap will look interesting, so the boys in the NICU may not be that interested in dating at this point, but it is best for you! Anyways, you aren't allowed to date until you are 30, so don't worry about what you look like little girl. You are precious in all of our eyes, and especially God's eyes!
Still praying for you in SC!

ReplyDeleteWe love the pictures of your beautiful Rose! Wait until the kids get home from school- They will be so excited to see Kyle's pug resting by Baby Rose! Kyle has the identical Webkinz pug (his absolute favorite stuffed animal which he snuggles closely each night) so now we will know EXACTLY how "big" your little Rose has gotten!
ReplyDeleteWe are continuing to rejoice with you in all the wonderful reports, and we will keep sending prayers to our Awesome God!
Thanks also for giving us the oppotunity to pray with/for these other families. It is a privilege to lift each one of these precious lives up to the Lord.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the update! Updates with pitures are my favorite! Your family has been part of my life since 1 or 2 days before your daughter was born, I check on you all (spoken like a true North Carolinian eh?-We're military, I'm really from Wisconsin) anyway, as I was saying, I check on your family everytime I sit down at my computer. I feel I am waiting, waiting for mommy to see her little girl, and the day you hold her I will be crying with joy.
Thank you again, for sharing!

ReplyDeleteWe are praying for you 3 here in Roanoke Rapids, NC. I received the links from a coworker praying for you in Kyle, Texas, and have shared them with prayer warriors here. We check on your progress all the time. Nate, take care of yourself - caregivers need rest and some time outs to rejuvenate! Hugs and love to T and G! Kimberly

I have read this everyday since baby Gwen was born. You are so inspiring and uplifting to people all over this world even my little four year old can't wait to get home and ask for the laptop just to see Tricia and her new baby Gwen. Your life story has impacted so many people and I know that was in God's plan and it amazes me how you stand so strong in your faith. I look foward everyday to the updates as it has made me stronger in my faith. "To God Be The Glory"
ReplyDeleteawwwwwww, she's so cute and she has grown a lot since she was born. we're all still praying for all three of you. glad that everybody seems to have good news
ReplyDelete:)
So I am mushy -- and that made me cry.... Nate, your blog will be a big help for you in Gwyn's teenage years when she rolls her eyes at you and says you dont love me!
ReplyDeleteAwwwwweee... that was the first word that came out of my mouth when I saw Rose with her pug. Glad everything is going well with her.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Is that her first Webkinz? The nurses and doctors don't lie. She is a beauty!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, great idea posting this to Gwyneth, and the pictures are ADORABLE!! They make me want to kiss her on the head!! We're still praying for you all here at LU SOL. I also have some friends in Massachusetts and Ontario hooked now!! Or should I say YOU do, since the story is what grabs the heart and pulls it in!! Great video of Trish the other day too!! We'll keep praying!!
ReplyDeleteNate,
ReplyDeleteI have followed your story for a couple weeks now and cannot stay away from your blog. You are an amazing individual, to say the least. I am 28 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer while being pregnant. Addison Hope was born on November 27th at 31weeks,3days. She spent 4 weeks in the NICU and came home on Christmas morning! She is a strong, miracle baby just like Gwyneth Rose. They take after their mommies! In many ways I can relate to your story and the difficult decisions you faced and continue to face. Tricia is one brave girl. Her courage is immeasurable. I asked my friends and family to pray for you all in my online journal today. You, Tricia and Gwyneth will always be in my daily thoughts and prayers. Take care of your girls!

From Deb in Colorado Springs. I work in a level III NICU and just want to tell you that your Gwyneth is doing AWESOME! It is great to see the pics and see how well she looks and she is just beautiful. I do love the idea of measuring her weekly with her pug that will be great for her to see when she is older. Glad to hear that all is going well and that things are looking positive for Tricia. We keep all of you and the other families that yu list in our prayers daily
ReplyDeleteSniff... So sweet. Happy Two Weeks Baby Gwyneth!!!
ReplyDeletei am so happy that you are doing this!
ReplyDelete6 years later i look at my daniel's lion and i am so amazed that he ever truly was that small much less smaller than it was to begin with.
she looks great and from your reports she is making great progress.
She is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that the pug came to good use. I was sad when I realized that Tricia couldn't have it with her in icu, but now she can see it with her baby! Say hi to Tricia for us!
ReplyDeleteSarah
I love the pug pictures. Hope that Meka doesn't get jealous ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat Pictures.Frank and I are checking them out. We think it is Meka dressed up. I knew she could not wait to meet the new family member. Thanks again to all that have been praying so faithfully during this portion of N,T.G's journey.
ReplyDeleteYou will treasure those pictures - we called our little one TRex in utero (long story) and when she was born at 25w3d, we brought in a little stuffed dinosaur that we had as her NICU mascot. I still take pictures of her with Pickles at the very least every year on her birthday.
ReplyDeleteSimply amazingly miraculous!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures with the pug are a wonderful way to watch your beautiful rose bloom & grow.
our family continues to pray for all of you!!!
Nate and Tricia, when my nephew Cameron was born at 27 weeks (14 years ago) it was Beanie Babies that were just beginning to be the rage. His NICU nurse at CHKD gave him a purple platypus, and he has never been a day without it since then, although I think it lives in the drawer now, rather than next to him! :) Platypus served as our yardstick back then, too!
ReplyDeleteWhen he was 2 and someone would call it a duck, he was quick to correct them!
Love you,
Roxanne
I looked at that and said - wow, that's a big dog! Then I read that it's a webkinz, and realized that Gwyneth is just a tiny girl so far. I am praying she continues to grow and thrive. And YAY! for negative CF screening!!
ReplyDeleteLittle Gwen you are too cute sleeping next to your pug!!! Your Daddy does an awesome job keeping us updated on you and your Mommy!! We continue to say special prayers everyday for you and your family. Grow sweet girl grow!!!
ReplyDeleteI have never posted on a blog before, but considering I virtually ignored my family this entire night to read every one of your blogs in your "adventure" I figured I should send you a msg. I heard about your blog thru someone @ duke and I am so glad they shared it with me! You have had me moved to laughter and tears over the past hours and I want you to know that you will be in my prayers daily. Your family is amazing! You are surely giving your girls strength as you continue to share your commitment, faith and courage with them.
ReplyDeleteP.S. My 2 yr. old son has the same pug that you measure Gwyneth by and we call him Beau!
My kids have the same webkin and were in awe at Gwyneth's size. We have seen the photos, but for the kids this put it all in perspective.
ReplyDeleteSo precious!!!
We continue to pray she grows big, does more poops, and is healthy.
beth
Oh My Gosh, this is just too adorable. What a great picture idea. Still praying for all of you!
ReplyDeleteHugs and Prayers from Maryland
What incredible perspective! My son has a Webkinz pug (named Roger), and to see your beautiful White Rose next to one is amazing. I look forward to watching Gwyneth dwarf her pug and eventually cradle it in her arms!
ReplyDeleteBlessings......
Omigosh Nate, I never thought I would say this, but..."YAY FOR POOPIES!!!!" /em does the happy dance!
ReplyDeleteI swear her hair is growing along with her body - what a beautiful head of hair she's going to have!
My poor Meg was sparse even at 2 - I worried if she was ever going to get hair! Now it's thick, long, and luxurious -
I love the idea of taking her pix with her pug. I would set my kids up in the same chair in the living room and take their pictures every month. It was kind of neat looking at the progression!
I'll continue to keep you three in my prayers - it's great to see Trish hamming it up for the camera too :-) I am so thankful to our Lord for His many blessings and miracles!
Chris/Rhinna (from worshiptogether)
Her little spine is soooo cute!!!
