Yeah, and your counter proves lots of others do too! Especially when it is a beautiful story well told. Praying for that happy ending, maybe the one where Tricia ties Gwyneth's hair bows and sends her off to kindergarten while you sit nearby polishing the final draft of your latest book.
Hi. I've been following yalls story for awhile, and I wanted to tell you about a family friend. He is in his forty's and had a lung disease and cancer and was told he needed a lung transplant; he knew that going to Duke would be his best chance at receiving new lungs and getting the best care possible. He finished his PT and schooling about a week ago, and was given a double lung transplant Wednesday. By Friday he was on the lowest dosage of meds and the lowest setting on the vents; he even walked a mile Thursday. I just thought that his story might give you hope. He is doing GREAT. I will continue praying for all of yall!!!
Thank you for sharing your story in such a public way. It has been an amazing testimony and opened my eyes daily to God's different blessings for each family. We are all, relatively, healthy and worried about silly things ... will our picky toddler eat tonight's dinner?
I thank you and appreciate your willingness to be in a fish bowl, even if it is only for chronicling you own part of the story. It's public, and that means somehow folks think it's up for debate, opinion, and criticism. Poo on them! Your story is a wonderful testimony of God's continued grace! I can't wait for your next post :)
Well I have no idea what you are going through and can not even imagine. But I do remember the NICU days well. I had a micro-preemie at 25weeks and 2 days. He spent 116 days in NICU and came home on oxygen, an apnea monitor, and a pulse-ox. He is now 2 years old and is a happy healthy little boy. You can not even tell anymore he was early at all. I know how much hope your story has given people and I hope mine can give some hope also.
Well, there are many stories of hope of which I love to read as they inspire me and then there are stories of those fighters that don't always win their fight as with my uncle Bill. He was on the waiting list for a lung transplant at Univ of Maryland and sadly passed away 3 days ago before new lungs could be matched to him. I know he used to read this blog and it gave him much hope and inspiration as he followed Tricia's story. Please pray for him and he fought a good fight. He was a wonderful man and I know he is in our Heaven now. Thank you. Amanda Wheeler Silver Springs, MD
I can't even begin to imagine nor understand what you are going thru.
I can pray for you, though, and support you that way. And I do.
I think that you are just going to have let a lot of the comments and misunderstandings go. Just do your thing, and tell your story, and let God work it all out....who will benefit, who will be blessed. Don't let blogging about this get you down.
I have no idea what you are going though and it would be crazy for me to say I do. My story is not at all similar and and my blog follows our adoption of our "special" baby, even though we have only a few things in common, I very much appreciate your honesty and you sharing a little bit of your and Tricia's life with us. I feel very lucky to have just a small peak into the lives of such strong and God-filled people. Thanks!
Hey--since you said you love hearing people's stories, I thought I'd share our blog with you (and those who read your blog). But, just know that I hope our story does NOT relate to yours, since it is about the loss of our daughter.
If your friends who lost the baby boy are intersted, please pass the link along to them. The blog about our daughters' life and death is www.eviemarie.com and the blog that my husband and I recently started is witheachpassingmoment.blogspot.com.
Like I said, I'm not sending this to you because I think you can relate to it--our story right now is about grief, and I am hoping that your story right now is more about celebration! Espescially about the progress your little girl is making, and the hope for new lungs for Tricia. I am just thinking it may possibly be helpful in a way to people you meet (or people who read your blog) who may have lost their NICU babies.
I work in an OR here in NC, at a large trauma center. I simply want you to know that everytime we have a donor posted, I specifically pray those lungs will go to Tricia. I always ask the Lifeshare staff if we're harvesting lungs, and if they're going to Duke. I pray each time the answer is yes. You, Tricia, and Gwyneth are in my prayers everyday. Your story give me strength. God bless you all!
P.S. I have a good friend who works in CTICU at Duke, which is where Tricia will be after the transplant. When that day arrives, I'll send you her name. She'll be yet another person to look out for Tricia!
First off I really hope you read this. Ok as many other have said I too have been following your story, I have been following since the day sweet baby gwyneth was born. I have gone through and read past posts and a little about tricia, but was mainly intriged by the two striving and being a miracle right before my eyes. I have become sooo addicted I try to read the blog everyday, though I am busy, I dont always get to read it everyday, but I do try. Now I hate to give you my sob story, you have enough to deal with, I will tell you I am pregnant with a little boy he is due april 4th I know tricia was due sometime after me, I am amazed at how well gwyneth is doing, because I cant even begin to imagine my baby here already, I feel he is too small and not ready, but gwyneth was too small and underdeveloped, but she is doing sooo well, a true miracle. Now I have had a few issues but I dont even let them faise me because I know my baby will be fine with todays technology, but when I am at home and he moves or when I feel a foot glide across my side I wish I was next to tricia to let her feel it its a amazing feeling, and id love to turn to her and say thats what it would feel like if gwyneth was still in there, only to make her laugh and smile, (never to make her cry or hurt her) I would love to meet your family you inspire me to always hole my head up. Inever understood why you would take such a risk until I saw your video, that touched me and I respect your choice to keep gods blessing and tricias life long dream. CONGRADULATIONS god is really on your side and looking out for you. I love each of you very much, keep up the good work. GOD BLESS
CF-Husband. I follow from a distance, only because your situation's a bit different from mine - yet again, I'm not sure what to say. Our son was supposed to die at birth (he's got a large occipital encephalocele - his brain grew outside his skull) and he's 7 weeks and 1 day today. So we're wandering through life on eggshells right now. But we knew what we were getting into when we had our 20 week scan. I find it really refreshing to see how honestly you write and also it's encouraging to see a family on the young side of life going through similar situations. My husband and I are 22 and 24. Finding the "right" thing to say is difficult... but I hope and pray for GOD'S BEST for you, Tricia, and Gwyneth. With love - Susie, Matt, Oceana, and Joshua Sams mnssams.blogspot.com
So I thought I was having a "rough" time this past week. We found out we owed $$ on our taxes, my car had a major breakdown, then brokedown again 4 hours after getting back, we leave on our dream vacation thursday (we've been saving for two years to go on this trip). So we were stressed out about getting things ready to be gone for 10 days from work and the unexpected expenses and my husband and I were being very short and irritated with each other and then I thought of you and your family.
And was completely inspired by how you've handled your journey and completely ashamed about how we were handling our week. So then we prayed for you and your girls and praised Him for inspiring you to share this story. Thank you for sharing your journey and for inspiring me to focus on the important things.
I have been following your blog, and love reading about Tricia and Gwyneth! I have never commented before (I don't think) but since you posted that you love stories, I have been meaning to leave you with this link. Words can't really describe this family- you *must* check it out!!

I love reading your story & keep you 3 in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteI know “going public” must be a headache at times. I love how you take everything in stride & you don't "let the turkeys get you down!"
I find your blog so inspiring & get strength & inspiration from you 3.
I love your movies & photos.
I wish you peace & strength on your journey. Thanks for sharing your story.

BTW, I loved the videos you made for the banquet.
I just want to thank you for sharing a bit of your lives with us. It is nice to have someone to care about and pray for other than your own self!

ReplyDeleteNate,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry that you have to go through the garbage...
I'm guessing my comments will now read Durbette instead of TsMom.
Anyway - a short story for you:
My daughter is now 7 years, 4 months & 13 days out from her double lung transplant and doing very well!
Ah, yes, what He does for us is amazing. I continue to pray for your family. Keep up the wonderful job of caring for them!
Blessings,
Karen
OK, so they now read karen instead of TsMom.
