White Rose Blooming (7 Weeks)

Every Tuesday while you're in the hospital, we'll take a picture with your pug so that everyone can see how much you are growing!

You are now a little bit bigger than 12 inches long and a little bit more 1lb 10oz.

Your seventh week was your best yet! While you didn't grow much, you were taken completely off IV feeds for the first time ever! You have been able to stay on the CPAP all week, which is a good sign that you may never have to go back to the vent! Your blond hair is growing so long, and your fingernails are almost ready for the first trimming!

You were moved twice this week. The first time to a room all to yourself, which was nice for all of your family when we came to visit you. You had another negative MRSA swab, which means you could be out of contact isolation in less than two weeks! You did not have as many visitors this week because the hospital won't let anyone but your parents and your grandparents see you because they don't want you to get sick with the flu.

And, this past week, your mommy was finally placed on the transplant list, which means she could be breathing with new lungs any day now!

In the next week, we're praying that you'll continue to do well on the CPAP, and that you'll really begin growing more because of all of the milk you are eating. We're also praying that your mommy will get her new lungs so that she can come see you just as much as your daddy gets to see you.

We love you!

  1. Oh my goodness, she really is growing! I am so glad to this wonderful update. She is an amazing girl already. A tough cookie, like her mom!

Continued prayers for you and your family.

And PS... I am working on Gwyneth's tutu! I emailed you about it awhile back. (Like you don't have enough to remember!) I sell them but am making one as a gift for your sweetie. I know she will look precious as she prances around the house playing dress up!

I hope you all find good rest tonight.

  20. What a beauty! Praying that she starts to gain weight and come off CPAP soon… and of course still praying for Tricia.

I would appreciate your prayers for my father-in-law, Roy Metcalf. He's not gaining strength as quickly as he needs to be in order to get off the vent. He has a CaringBridge site in his name, roymetcalf.

  31. The pictures are great. It's amazing how a few ounces can look like pounds. I had a former patient visit me yesterday that delivered a 1 lb. 11oz preemie toward the end of summer last year. She's now 7 months old and weighs a whopping 12 lbs!! Oh the things you have to look forward to. Keeping you in my prayers in Lexington, KY.

We will continue to pray for you and your girls. I'll also spread the word to my friends here in Charlotte. God is so good.

  36. Gwyneth Rose is getting so big! I love seeing the update each week to see how much bigger she's gotten. I'm also glad to hear that she's eating more and more yummy milk, and that she's doing excellent on the CPAP machine! God is awesome!

    Gwyneth Rose,
I am so happy that you are growing, and getting stronger every day! I know you're enjoying the delicious milk in your tummy! I pray for you constantly throughout the day, and I love when your Daddy shows us pictures of how big you're getting. You're such a sweet miracle, and blessing!!! You will forever be in my heart!

  38. My she really is getting bigger! I am back from my vacation in Sedona and I checked this site each day from the hotel lobby.
A few questions- Did you tell tricia how nice her hair looks? I also loved the braids too. Will Tricia ever be able to see your pets in the hospital? And what is all that covering on Gwyneth's head? It looks uncomfortable. I hope she is warm enough.
You should publish this story in a real book.
I am still praying each day for all of you.

  39. Thanks for the update on adorable Gwyneth. I have some questions. Did you tell tricia how nice her hair looks? I love the braids too. What is the covering on Gwyneth's head? It doesn't look comfortable. Is he warm enough? Oh and you siad Tricia was getting bored. Is there any way she can have a visit with her cat or dog? That would cheer her up!!!

I went to sedona for vacation and I checked your blog every day from the hotel lobby. I am glad your news is good. You should publish this in a real book.

I am praying for all of you.

  40. i tell patient's families all the time...and i know from our own experience with our little one pound wonder that once your rose blooms to one kilo or close to two pounds she will take off and grow like a weed.
congrats on getting off iv fluids. that is another huge milestone for her...one for the baby book!

  41. She is just BEA-Utiful!!! I follow your blog every day (sometimes I click more than once)...this is only my second comment since I don't know you all personally...but I am just so blessed to see Gwyneth's weekly birthday pics. She is really growing into her skin and gaining more and more beauty each week (clearly from her precious mommy!) :) We continue to pray for the three of you and the days that you endure and have victory over! 44. Oh, I love Tuesdays! What a joy to watch your little girl growing up. Thank you so much for sharing!

  45. It's good you're getting some perspective with her size. The first few pictures i took of my twins, there was nothing to go off of, until i brought one of those teeny tiny diapers home to show WITH the pictures. THEN people started to "get it".
so many of those shots remind me of the various ones we took of our girls. Alyssa had to have the PDA surgery at 1 week old (for her heart) and she layed on her tummy alot while she healed; kinda like ms. rose there!

  46. she is doing amazing and I'm sure it's from all the love you all have for her. I'm so happy for your family and you're always in my thoughts.
Keeping my fingers crossed for Tricia to get transplant real soon.

  47. I can't believe how big she looks next to her pug! We are so excited to see her doing so well. My children are always asking about her when I'm on the blog! Blessings

  48. I was so sad to find out I was too late for the song contest for Gwyneth's video! I wanted to give you the song anyway because it is a more upbeat love song...it makes me thing of my son (who was also a surprise blessing! :) )
    The song is:
Accidentally in Love by the Counting Crows

I never knew that I could love someone so much, until I became "accidentally" pregnant, and fell so so deeply in love... even if you don't use it, i thought it'd be a cute song for you to listen to and remind you of your little girl :)

  49. Yeah for Baby Gwyneth! Way to go! We are so proud of you. Your baby friend Emily says "hi" (or some version of hi since she is only 2 1/2 weeks old....) Thinking of you all often!!! love and hugs from Illinois
