I had open heart surgery when I was 18 (seven years ago) six week before Dalen and I got married. In my immaturity I can remember being frustrated that he was so worked up about it. Now that I've grown up a little and have begun to understand love I can look back and see that the whole experience was a lot harder on him than it was on me. I don't even really remember my recovery, but he can remember some very scary times. I can never understand what you and your family is going through, but my heart is for you. Blessings! p.s. I'm glad your hair is short.. if you still had the long do the picture just wouldn't be nearly serious enough ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, all the raw emotions are definitely showing in your eyes! My girls & I have been praying & will continue to do so.
ReplyDeletePhilipiians 4:19 My God will supply all your needs.
Praying you get the sleep you desperately need. Also praying for peace for you, Tricia & the rest of your family.
Thanks again for sharing with the rest of us.

ReplyDeleteWe've been praying for you. Get some rest. THANK YOU for telling your story and sharing so openly. For allowing the whole world to see your life laid open so raw for us.
ReplyDeleteI have learned alot about Tric these last 5-6 months,
ReplyDeleteI have learned Tric is a woman whose faith is second to none...she is blessed with such strength and fight to pull through no matter how the odds are stacked, Tric surpasses them all...
I have learned Tric passed these traits along to her most precious beautiful thriving Gwyneth Rose...
I have learned that Tric & Nathan
are a couple with such a bond,
it is nothing less than a blessed true love in every way...
I have learned that you don't need to lay your eyes on someone to care about them, to think of them
every day... many times through out the day & night...
to pray pretty much... as much as you can for them...
I hope Tric, Nathan, their families and of course Gwyneth too, get a really good nights rest......
As Always Showering You & Yours Lovingly With Prayer's & Sending Many Happy Wishes Your Way
Sincerely
Patricia N.
I also pray for Tric to remain infection & rejection free
I am glad you and Tricia will be able to reat a little easier tonight. Gwen looks like she is growing more this week. I told you she would grow more when her mommy was getting closer to getting her new lungs, she just didn't wanna leave her mommy in the hospital all by her self, now maybe you can take both your girls home very soon!

ReplyDeleteI got tears in my eyes when I looked into your eyes. The emotions you have felt are obvious. I hope that you are able to get some well deserved sleep tonight. Your new life with Tricia and Gwyneth is going to be fantastic. You have a lot to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteSometime today I will run on a track 7 1/2 laps to a mile. It's indoors and thankfully not icy. 10 years ago I was ill and told I would not run again. I fooled them all. I may be slow but I get there. My first mile will be for your girls-for stronger lungs and deep breaths without pain. And I am looking forward to the photo in a few years of mom chasing daughter running thru the tall grass at the park and dad behind the camera shooting megabytes of happy. Thumbs up!
ReplyDeleteIncredible!
ReplyDeleteMay all of you, and those that have helped you continue to be blessed.
I wish you all good sleeps, including those of the family of the loved one that donated the lungs... I know they are out there somewhere, just knowing how much one good act has helped changed the lives of so many others.
Rest easy.
Prayers for sleep and peace...

ReplyDeleteIts a beautiful and sunny day here in the UK so I am sending my beautiful and sunny thoughs your way. I hope both of you were able to get some rest and are ready to begin this new chapter. Thank you for allowing us to follow you on this journey as all three of you are a true inspiration to everyone reading and especially fellow CF'ers like me.
ReplyDeleteThat was such a powerful, poignant post Nate. The adventure continues. Hopefully, you slept like a brick!

ReplyDeletePraying you're able to get some well deserved rest too. Woke this morning and your family was one of the first things on my heart and in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteLove to all.
Nate, This is a God-given miracle for Tricia & your families. Get some rest. I know it's tough...the longest 12 hours in your life (It was 12 for us, too.) and then all you want to do is see her breathing, be with her anew - BUT, you must rest...your body has been through a very traumatic couple of days, also. I pray that you awaken rested this morning.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

ReplyDeleteAs hard as its all been it is truly answered prayer and just the way we asked for it. I hurt for you knowing it has to be the hardest time of your life thus far. Try to remember your going to have to stay well to love on both of your girls and that requires lots of rest and good food. Take care of you and lay the rest at the Lords feet cause He hears you and its becomming more and more obvious that His plan is what we are all praying for.
Bless your tired eyes and a hedge of protection on your peacefull sleep,
The Dovels
Wow. That's all I can say.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you guys.
Nate,
ReplyDeleteJust another thought after things become a bit more stable. You should dedicate a post to the donner family (from your family) and ask your commentors to say a little something. Would that NOT be the coolest thing ever if by some twist of fate the donner family wanted to meet Tricia? Can you imagine the looks and the tears that would come with seeing 500+ posts. I pray that someday you all get the chance to tell them your story it WILL bless them.
AGAIN,
The Dovel House
Just heard a song by hillsong and it reminded me of Tricia. Its called "I adore."

You have walked through the valley of the shadow of death, and yet-you have feared no evil.
ReplyDeleteDo you realize the power of your testimony, to overcome the fear of death? I give my God praise for your trust in him.
He is good, his truth is everlasting, and his mercies endure forever!
Bless your heart...I hope you got a good night's sleep last night...what a difference that will make!

ReplyDeleteI have never posted before but have been following your story. I am a doctor in an intensive care unit and take care of transplant patients, so it is interesting to me to see the other side of things. Anyway, I am so glad Tricia got her lungs and came through the surgery okay. Good luck in the next stages.
ReplyDeletehi nate, i read your dad's blog. keeping you guys in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteHope you got some great restoring sleep!
ReplyDeleteNate-
ReplyDeleteI can not begin to imagine how you are feeling. I am praying for you to get some sleep, Tricia to be the fighter that you have conveyed to us she is and little Gwenyth to keep doing what she has been.
Please remember during all of this you have to make time for your needs, including sleep. You will not be good for anyone else if you are not good to yourself first.
God bless you and "your girls."
You and your family have been in my prayers. I read daily and I hope you continue to have great updates.
