Ocracoke (Part 1)

We've been waiting for a good reason to take a day trip this summer down to one of our favorite places in the world. We hadn't been to Ocracoke, NC since before Gwyneth arrived, and because it's about a 2.5 hour drive, it's basically a once-a-year, all-day trip. Just before we left on Monday morning, we decided to pack our bags and try to find a vacant hotel to stay the night on the island, something that we haven't done before.

We let Gwyneth sit in the driver's seat on the ferry...

I'll give 86 points to the first person who can make an educated guess as to what restaurant served us lunch.

Emily was actually our "good reason" to make our trip down the coast. She and her family vacation in Ocracoke every summer. We met Emily a few years ago...she and Tricia are about the same age, and she also has CF. We'll take just about any chance we can get to hang out with other CFers and their families.

Chillaxin' at our motel (another 53 points to the first person who can guess which motel)...it rained pretty much the entire first day we were there, which was cool with us.

A quick 4x4 drive out to the beach to take a look at the nearly full moon, and then off to bed...

Nate

  1. Are locals allowed to guess?

My guess is Howard's Pub for lunch. I'm not sure about the motel though.
You can delete my comment if locals aren't allowed to guess.

  2. I have no idea...
    no guesses even.

I do enjoy the little peek into your lives... I only wish I knew you all for real. So blessed are the lives of those that do.

  10. Every single time I see a picture of Tricia holding Gwyneth I am reminded of her "secret" prayer to be a mom, and think "How powerful and wonderful is our God!" Loved this post and these amazing pictures of your beautiful girls, Nate. I'm so glad that Tricia has the chance to LIVE this life.

  11. Sweet Gwyneth is truly a miracle. And, Tricia, your hair is looking fab and your face beautiful! Oh, yeah. And, Nathan, you're still a handsome devil.

  13. Howard's Pub for the restaurant and I'm guessing Bluff Shoals (I can' remember the name!) for the motel. It's the one on the harbor, right? We drive 14! hours every summer to spend a week at Ocracoke. We love it there.

  19. So, I stumbled across your blog when I was 'googling' the Redskins and I absolutely love it!

Not just because you're in OBX and you love Ocracoke Island & Howard's Pub as much as my family does, but because of your story, your wife's story, your child's story...such a testimony of faith & love and how important it is to fight for what we believe in.
