ICULater

Tricia was moved to her normal floor today! Already, her heart rate is down and she's falling asleep! This is something that probably should have happened several days ago, but we're glad we're here now, and that's all that matters.

We'll miss the great staff in the ICU, but we lovingly say that we hope we never see you again (at least up there)! :)

Nate

  12. I am so happy to hear things are going better for Tricia and for sweet little Gwyneth. I have to tell you that this morning on the way to preschool my 3 year old said out of the blue "is Baby Gwyneth getting all better?". Then she wanted to say a prayer for her. We'll be praying for good sleep!!

  15. It is so good to hear that her heart rate is down since moving to her normal floor. I pray she sleeps long and peaceful, getting plenty of much needed rest. Praying for your girls all day long and for you and Agnes as you share shifts. May the Lord keep all of your spirits up and full of HOPE to keep the weariness from setting in. This has been a long and exhausting time for Tricia and for you. Rest well.

  25. So happy for you guys...there are some excellent articles out there in cyberspace on ICU Psychosis - a very real, very common phenomenon. After I was in the ICU for only 5 days one hospitalization, I had it so bad that I thought there were "extra" people around me in the room - convinced staff were trying to kill me - I even pulled out my vent tube because I thought it was suffocating me!

It was horrible...thankfully, most of those memories are very distant, but they do like to rear their ugly head anytime I have to go into the ICU.

Praise God that He is bigger than all of our stuff - including challenging memories - and that our minds are renewed daily through Christ Jesus!

    Blessings,

    Rose, CA

  29. Thank God, thanks for sharing today. Will be praying for Tricia.

    "I lie down and sleep.
I awake again, because the Lord sustains me.
I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side."
    Psalm 3: 5,6

I just wanted to share this verse. When going through a difficult trial, I had trouble with anxiety and this verse helped me not to just sleep, but to really rest.

I will definitely be praying for Tricia, thank God for this step forward.

    "Lifesong" - Casting Crowns

    Empty hands held high
    Such small sacrifice
If not joined with my life
    I sing in vain tonight

    May the words I say
    And the things I do
    Make my lifesong sing
    Bring a smile to You

Let my lifesong sing to You
Let my lifesong sing to You
I want to sign Your name to the end of this day
Knowing that my heart was true
Let my lifesong sing to You

    Lord I give my life
    A living sacrifice
To reach a world in need
To be Your hands and feet

So may the words I say
    And the things I do
    Make my lifesong sing
    Bring a smile to You

    Hallelujah
    Hallelujah
Let my lifesong sing to You

  57. Praying that this is the boost and encouragement that Tricia needs to continue to rest and recouperate. Praying for you and Agnes as you spend your days tending to the needs of the girls. I understand that it's not always easy - but you just keep on doing what the Father has you doing for now. It's only for a season.

My new prayer is for Gwyneth to be well enough for you to have kangaroo care time with her. There is nothing sweeter than holding your child for the first time - especially after going thru the ups and downs of the NICU. You'd be surprised how much better our boys did when we held them. Breathing became more even and they were very calm and even took time to open their eyes and look at us. Praying this for you and Tricia.

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? Yahweh is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. He never grows faint or weary; there is no limit to His understanding. He gives strength to the weary and strengthens the powerless. Youths may faint and grow weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint."
