The Story of Us (Part 7)

Nate's Version:
(Part 1)
(Part 2)
(Part 3)
(Part 4)
(Part 5)
(Part 6)

Tricia's Version:
(Part 1)
(Part 2)

That day with Tricia in VA Beach was wonderful. Just before we arrived back at her house later that afternoon, we made plans to hang out the next day as well...I wasn't sure if it was because her family was out of town and she was bored, if she was actually wanting to spend time with me, but it really didn't matter... It told Tricia I would take her to one of my favorite places in the world if we could drive her parents' jeep again.

That next day, we made the 40 minute drive up to Corolla and spent several hours 4-wheeling on the beach. Of all the places in the world I would want to live, Corolla would be near the top of the list (it is still one of our favorite places to get away for the day).

On the way home, we had one of those, get-to-know-you conversations. I've always been a good listener and observer, and have always been able to gather little pieces of information and figure out the bigger picture about most people (kind of like a profiler you see on the crime shows). I told Tricia that I could probably tell her things about herself that she had not yet told me...she told me to go ahead and try.

She was very surprised at some of the specific details about her personality that I was able to figure out, and I'm pretty sure that my attention to the things she had already shared with me and my ability to seem to know more about her than she thought I did amused and intrigued her (ask her yourself sometime).

I still didn't have the guts to verbally share my feelings for Tricia with her, and, for as much as I could discern about Tricia, I still could not figure out what she was thinking about me or if she was even aware of my love for her. We were having a great time together, and she sincerely seemed to be enjoying my company, but the month of little contact with her in April, followed by these few days had left me very confused...happy, but very confused. I could sense that things were coming to a place where I would either have to open u and share my heart or would have to resign myself to being her very confused friend for the rest of my life.

The next few weeks would tell....

Nate

  13. Corolla is such a beautiful place! My hubby and I and some friends rented a place down there a few years ago and it was so much fun! A bunch of the guys took someone's 4 wheel drive truck onto the beach and had a great time, sounds like you guys had fun doing that too!

  18. Nate, this "story of us" is such a fabulous idea, can't wait to hear Tricia's other side :)
my thoughts are with you especially today as I'm stuck at home with a horrid cold & fever - this only proves to me how strong Tricia must be to have been "stuck inside" for these past few months, when I was getting frustrated earlier today I stopped & told myself there are others who are more sick than just colds & I should not be feeling bad for myself, but for those in worse off situations - guess my point is that tricia inspired me to stop being such a baby about my situation & for that, I thank her whole heartedly!!
    xx

  25. I LOVE these stories - I feel like I am reading a romance novel but it is being ripped from my hands every day after I read the chapter. The suspense is killing me. This is such a precious story, especially when you think about where you are right now! What a great idea!

I am glad the swallow test went well - I check on you guys several times a day.

    Love & Prayers,

  29. How much longer are you going to keep this up, Nathan?! ;-P Can't wait for the reveal but I definitely enjoy the suspense-- makes things exciting! :-)

Once again, a lovely story! Are you sure you don't want to become a romance author someday? ;-)

    Marissa :-)

  30. I'm with Mac. I hope Part 8 is soon and that there aren't many more parts because these cliffhangers are hard on the patience! Part 7 is still so far away from where you are now, there's got to be so much more to tell, but the suspense is killing me!

Continuing to pray for you all,
    Love, Debbi/Aspiemom

  31. I LOVE Corolla!!!! I worked there during one of my summers during college. It is a beautiful place! My summer there was cut a little short due to a hurricane heading that way. I hope to go back there someday.

  33. Thank you so much for telling your story. I am loving reading it. My family and I vacationed on the Banks (specifically Corolla) every year when I was growing up. One of my favorite memories is the first time I went there with my now husband. We are praying for you and Tricia and beautiful tiny Gwyneth. I have two children and am expecting our third...parenthood is an amazing gift and has brought my husband and I to a new level of wonderfulness in our relationship. I pray the same for you and Tricia. God bless you.
