Every Tuesday while you're in the hospital, we'll take a picture with your pug so that everyone can see how much you are growing!
You are now about 12 inches long and 1lb 10oz.
Your sixth week was a good one. We are falling more in love with you every day, and you celebrated you first Valentine's Day. Even though you didn't gain any weight, you are eating more and more almost every day! The nurses moved you back to CPAP this week, and so far you've been doing very well. You have your very first eye exam, and everything "looks" perfect! You need 3 more negative MRSA swabs to get back to a more comfy room in a few weeks.
This week, your mommy was able to spend some time with you without your daddy around, which she thought was very nice. We found out today that she will be put on the transplant list in just a few days, which is very exciting news! Your daddy was able to hold you again a few times, with you wrapped in a blanket.
In the next week, we're praying that you'll do well on the CPAP and that your lungs will continue to grow stronger, and that you'll eat more and more. We're also praying that your mommy will get her new lungs, even maybe this week, so that we can begin making plans to all go home together!
We love you!

ReplyDeleteGwyneth is beautiful and you can see she is filling out. What a cutie!

I am curious. How much does Gwyneth sleep? She looks very snuggled up in her little crib get-up. Does she have a time where she looks around and takes things in? Do you think she recognizes your voice? Just wondering. I have been around preemie's but never one as little as your White Rose.
ReplyDeleteWhile she hasn't grown in weight this week, she looks as though she is growing well, nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteSweet blessings.
Always praying.
Yeah.....Gwyneth!!!!!It is so wonderful that mommy and daddy have been able to have special time with you! As you grow the story of your family will make you grow into the an amazing person, just like your parents! God has a wonderful plan for you and I can't wait to see what it will be.

ReplyDeleteGwyneth is beautiful. I have had four close experiences with the NICU ~ (at four different hospitals.... and I know that they are they are discovering more and more about how to care for these babies... I love the way that they bundle her up in a simulated womb type of thing. Those blankets looks so cozy.
ReplyDeleteFrom what you say,I think that they are doing a great job of taking care of her, and are really on top of everything. I have a lot of confidence in them. Especially the way that they are being so super careful about the MRSI dangers.... and noticing and checking her stomach as they feed her to prevent infections...
My sons are adults now, but I still remember those NICU days.
I feel very confident that your White Rose is getting excellent care.

ReplyDeleteI'm so excited that Tricia is getting put on the transplant list soon, and your white rose continues to bloom so beautifully :) Still praying!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! I love seeing her snuggled against her pug - if you squint your eyes, the toy looks almost like a mini-Meka. Probably less drool, though :)
ReplyDeleteI'm continually praying for strength, hope, patience, and endurance for you, Tricia and Gwyneth. Also praying that all goes well with the transplant list and all that jazz.
Nate and Tricia- The pug is getting smaller! That is a wonderful sign. Praying for Gwyneth that she will continue to grow. Also praying for Tricia as they are making final plans for the transplant list. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Hi Nathan and Tricia - glad Gwynnie is doing so well still. She's so so tiny! When you look at her it's kind of strange to think that she's six weeks old but despite this is still younger than a normal full-term baby. It's hard to get your head around - grow miracle baby - grow!
ReplyDeleteSarah in Kent, England x
That pug keeps getting smaller and smaller. :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful blog! I can't get enough of Gwyneth's pictures! Hang in there! Going home will be such a joy! It will happen. Take in all the love and support that you are getting right now. So many are lifting you up in prayer. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for those new lungs!
ReplyDeleteLet me be the first, total stranger to offer my babysitting services. Yes, I'm a stranger and yes, I live 1000 miles away... but maybe we can work something out! :o)

Ah, if only love could cure all of the world's ills...
Take care,
Grammie
It looks like she's finally longer than the pug!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see how short that pug is getting! Good news about both your girls but still very much praying for them both. Woops, I guess I sound redundant - just looked at other response before sending this, Still, there is no such thing as redundancy of prayers and celebration of good things, so I will post anyway.
ReplyDeleteShe is amazing. Thank you LORD!!! This has been an awesome experience for my boys. They are watching her grow before their eyes. They know that she should really still be with her mommy.
ReplyDeleteGwyneth, you are beautiful!!!
Prayers,
Christy in KY
Wow. God bless each of you, and especially that baby.
ReplyDeleteI just went back to the two week pics to compare and she's definitely getting taller :) Yay, before you know it she'll be playing basketball in the driveway with her daddy.
ReplyDeleteMy Emmanuella Grace is doing better and better. I'm sure your Gwyneth will catch up to her soon! :) You all are in my prayers way out here in Phx, AZ! God cares about you and your situation; "Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you" was a verse I was given when all this started happening and I had people praying for Emma's healing. It is something I want to pass along to you. God cares, so give Him all your worries and burdens. Let Him carry them, and you take a rest in His arms. We all need that. Emma and I send you our love and prayers.

ReplyDeleteYou can really tell she's growing! I am glad to hear you have such a healthy baby girl!
ReplyDeleteNate, I am sorry that you are struggling with this blog and some of it's shadows. Please don't stop all the good that you're bringing into my life (and many others). The three of you have become such a part of my friend's and family's daily routines and discussion openers. At our morning coffees, we talk about your viewpoints and most importantly, your courage. Someone commented on this post all the things that I wish I could, too, verbalize but can't seem to spit out.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous said..."I know you are not preaching on your blog nathan, but just your voice, sentiments and Tricia.....I can say that personally I've woken up and paid so much more attention to God & my prayer life.....not just w/you & Tricia, but my family...........my every single breath"
I am not surprised that I'm not the only one that feels this way, I guess I'm just a little surprised that you don't know how much good you've brought to hundreds. Take some time off, enjoy your family and don't be so hard on yourself. Write new posts only if helps you deal with all that's on your plate, but please know that when you do, it is for the benefit of soooooooo maaaaaaany others as well. If you decide otherwise, yes, we'll be disappointed, but we'll get over it. I've fallen in love with you, Tricia and Gwyneth, the complete strangers that you are, something that I've never experienced before (and not sure I will again!)For this I thank you immensely for sharing your story, your heart and experiences so graciously. My life will never be the same!
