White Rose Blooming (13 Weeks)

Seriously, I thought maybe somebody had switched pugs on me this week...I was floored with how much she has grown.

Every Tuesday while you're in the hospital, we'll take a picture with your pug so that everyone can see how much you are growing!

You are now 14 inches long, and you weigh 3 whole lbs!!!

Your thirteenth week was an amazing one. You continue to breath on your own! You are eating more and more from the bottle, and your daddy got to feed you for the first time. And, you are really gaining a lot of weight!

Your mommy got to hold you for the last time with her old lungs! The next time you see her, she might be walking in and talking to you! You had another promising eye exam, and although it's not the best news, your eyes are not getting any worse. You also helped celebrate your daddy's birthday this week.

In the next week, we're praying that your next eye exam will show good progress, that you'll continue to eat more and more from the bottle, and that you'll get closer to being moved out of the incubator!

We love you!

  7. Love the pug pictures! Gywneth is beautiful. When my son was born preemie, we took his picture next to a dollar bill since family far away could compare easily with a dollar bill. We still show him that picture now that he's 3! Blessings to your beautiful family.

  32. OK! She added measurable length this week, as well as all of those ounces! I think she finally figured out this growth thing! And Tricia continues to make steady progress! I wonder if they make "Life is Good!" T-shirts (or, maybe, hats?!) in miniscule sizes? Would be fun to wear matching ones for the next family photo shoot!
Continuing to stand in awe of all God is doing...and just praising Him for it! Thank you, Lord! And Almighty God, please continue to pour out your blessing on this beautiful family in such tangible and visible ways, in Your way and Your timing, for Your Glory, and the spread of Your Truth and Your Kingdom throughout the earth! In the precious name of Jesus..Your Son and our Savior, Amen and amen!

    ReplyDelete
  107. she DOES look so much bigger! that's great! alyssa (one of my twins) had to have the eye surgery twice on both eyes and then after we left the hospital, we had to go back and get the scleral buckle put on one of her eyes (now i'm thinking i already told you that? shrugging)
anyway, stay strong. it's yucky to hear your precious little one has to have eye surgery, but this is amazing that they are able to save preemies' eye sight nowadays!
i am currently journaling my experience as a NICU mom for 15 weeks. If you are ever bored, come over to my site and check it out. i am currently writing about their first week, just after alyssa had to have heart surgery.
have a great day! give your wife a big hug from me!

  127. So, last night I was putting my 7-year-old son, Cole, to bed. We got to prayer time and I asked who we should pray for. His answer: "The baby with the crazy dad."

We prayed for 'the baby' and her mommy, then added a few for 'the crazy dad' because he REALLY looks like he needs it!

  128. Gwyneth is getting so big! She is just gorgeous!

I wanted to thank you Nate for really getting the word out about becoming an organ donor! Especially with April being Organ Donation month!

My name is Katie (from good 'ol KY) and I am 24. I am married and we have a 2 year old daughter and a baby boy that is due June 27th.

My dad passed away on March 31, 1997 while awaiting a new heart. His name was John and he was only 39 years old. I am an organ donor, of course, because of this and I always tell people the importance of donating their organs. I can't help but think that if more people donated that maybe I would still have my dad and my daughter and son would have their grandpa. That is what bothers me the most these days- is that my dad never got to meet my kids.

Hearing about Tricia having her new lungs brings tears of joy to my eyes! I am SO HAPPY for the three of you!!!! :-)

I believe that God has a plan for us all. I think a part of that plan is for you getting out the word on organ donation. When I think about all the people who have come to your blog and have since became a organ donor, I can't help but SMILE!

God Bless you, Tricia, and Gwyneth! Thanks again!

    Love,
    Katie M.

  146. Wow. Found your blog through my daughter's www.howlifeismeasured.blogspot.com. Her son was born 1 yr ago with achondroplasia and she has been blogging about the adventure ever since. I have been following your story for months and commenting every now and then. I am amazed by the miracles I have seen in the past year. God is good. Still praying in Michigan for Gwyneth and Tricia. And grateful every day for Owen.

  153. Gwyn, you are doing fabulous with growing and eating! So pretty and cute, too! Hopin' your eyes don't get any worse or even stay the same that you might need another laser surgery again. I'm praying they improve soon enough!

Thanks, Nate, for posting the weekly pictures and update of your lil girl. Go and continue your much needed break!

    Marissa :-)

  154. A friend listed your blog as a must read love story. I stopped by today to ready while my three month old, born 1/16/08 is snoozing. I live in NC as well and believe that God's hand was in me finding your blog today. I won't go into the details but know that your story touched me and made me realize how lucky I am to have a healthy body and a healthy baby. I can't imagine what you are going through. Thanks for taking the time to share your life through the blog. I will be praying for you and believe that God is using you in a mighty way. Cindy
