At 10:40 this morning, we signed the contract to own our first home. The closing date is November 7. Tricia, especially, is very excited. I'll share more details about the house another time...
Yay!! We've been home owner's for about 1.5 years. It is certainly exciting and frustrating all at the same time. We live in the DC area and the market practically crashed right after we bought. I feel okay knowing that it is a long term investment and it will bounce back. Biggest thing is we bought a fixer upper and it is hard to put money into it in this economy. We are plugging along with the projects anyway and just praying for the best.
wooo hooo. What is that I hear? A collective roar of clapping and wooting in the Lawrenson househouse? I bet even though ma and pa Lawrenson are excited to get their house back ... they'll be very sad when it's so quiet.
It's exhausting, isn't it? Congratulations!! Be prepared for your closing date to change. Not that it absolutely will, just be prepared for that to happen. Closing dates are rarely etched in stone. Good luck!!!
I am delighted for you! But that was very quick - here in the UK, all the relevant searches, surveys and so on can take months, to say nothing of the financing!
It does pay to buy a house in time of economic recession - I just hope and pray prices don't fall any further so that you are left with negative equity should you ever want to sell.
LONG time reader (and pray-er!), first time commenter. You know, I'm kind of a lurker :o)
Decided to come out of the woodwork here to say congratulations!!! Yay!
I also wanted to comment the other day when you mentioned finding out Tricia was expecting and due in April, and then your sister announcing and due the same day this coming year. This time last year, my sister announced she was expecting, also due on April 24, and this year, I just found out I'm expecting again and due on April 24 :o)
You know a coincidence like that definitely warrants a comment :o)
