Saturday Trip

This afternoon, we took Gwyneth to see her first lighthouse...actually, we only jumped out of the car long enough to snap a picture...our real goal was to go down to see the house from "Nights of Rodanthe" (even thought we've seen it before).

The weather was great today (for the first time in a week or so)!

Here we are at the Bodie Island Lighthouse...

Here's the house, a little roughed up from the storm this week.

On the way back, we stopped at the old Oregon Inlet Life Saving Station, abandoned in 1988...I'm fascinated by this kind of stuff.

  2. I just love Nicolas Sparks. I have read all of his novels and his memoir. Thanks for sharing your photography of these real places. That is what I love most about Mr. Sparks... he uses his real life experiences in his writing. I look forward to the Nights in Rodanthe movie...

  6. How ironic is this ... I just this minute walked in the door from seeing "Nights in Rodanthe" and here is the house! WOW! I will warn you ... this is a triple hanky film. Every woman walking out of the theater was a mess! But the house looks great. So help me here... is it pronounced Rodanth ? or is it really Rodantheeee like I have been hearing?

Glad you had such a great day for an adventure! Have an awesome worship service tomorrow!
    Blessings,
    Susan

  8. this is one of hubby and my favorite lighthouses. We went to the OBX on our honeymoon and have pics of this lighthouse at sunset.. gorgous! When we were first married BK (Before Kids!) we had a thing about lighthouses.. we tried to visit all the lighthouses close to us.. we succeeded!

Thanks for the pics of this house too.. I look forward to seeing this movie - hoping for a pretty clean one!

  15. does that mean that no lives have been saved since 1988? Can I have the building if no one is going to maintain it!?! Love old buildings, hate to see them abandoned. reclaimed lumber is the best! my fascination is with what has gone on inside those four walls..."if these walls could talk."

we were going to go see the movie tonight, but got out of dinner about 15 minutes to late...next week!

  25. What a great way to spend a Saturday, isn't it so much more fun doing it with a little one. I can't wait to start doing all the things we did as kids with my little guys, because watching it through their eyes seems so much more rewarding. Philly zoo, here we come:)

Beautiful photos! I've keep you all in my prayers for quite some time.

I've only recently learned about the world of blogging. Your family has touched my heart, and our church has been praying for you.

    Wow, Gwyneth has grown!
