1) I've heard rumors that my hit counter will stop counting at 10,000,000...anybody know if there is truth in this and what I can do to keep the count going without having to click "reload" 10,000,000 times if it is true?
2) I've heard rumors that blogger will only allow 999 posts (this will be post #904)...anybody know if there is truth in this and what I can do (without having to create a new blog or delete old posts) if it is true?
If you do know for certain if these two issues are true or false, please point me in the right direction so that I can verify.
Thanks!
Nate
1)*shrug* Since it is an odometer type of counter, it is possible that it will "zero" out.
ReplyDelete2) http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=42348&topic=12507
1. Most counters I've seen will allow you to enter a starting number - so if yours stops, you may have to just look and find one that will go higher (hopefully one exists!) and enter in starting number.
ReplyDelete2. According to blogger there is no limit on number of posts (I see there is a link to their article in the previous comment)
I bet that a year ago you had no idea you'd have this problem!
I think different counters have different capacities. I just checked the one I use and it can go up to 32 numbers... so that would be, what?
ReplyDelete10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000?
I don't know how to say that number!
Stat Counter is pretty easy to use and you can start it at your existing counters number...

I don't have an answer for either of your questions, but I do know of a site that you can turn your blog into a book (a scrapbook per say). A friend of mine has done it and loved it and I'm in the process of it. This way if you at some point you need to get rid of posts you'll at least have it documented somewhere. Also, it would be something great for Gwyneth to have when she gets older too look back on, her and her mother's miraculous stories!
ReplyDeleteblurb.com is the site.
I found this on BLOGGER HELP (from the dashboard)
ReplyDeleteWhat are the limits on my Blogger account?
We try to give you a lot of room to play here on Blogger, so you'll see that a lot of the important "limits" here aren't really very limiting. But just in case you were wondering, here is some information about about what a single Blogger account will hold.
Number of Blogs: You can have as many blogs as you like on one account.
Number of Posts: There is no limit on the number of posts you can have on one blog. They will all be saved on your account (unless you manually delete them) regardless of whether you are publishing archives or not.
Size of Posts: Individual posts do not have a specific size limit, but very large posts may run you up against the page size limit. (See the next item.)
Size of Pages: Individual pages (the main page of your blog, or your archive pages) are limited to 1 MB in size. This will allow for a few hundred pages of text, but it may be a problem if you are listing hundreds of posts on the front page of your blog. If you hit this limit, you will see an error message saying "006 Please contact Blogger Support." You can get around this error by lowering the number of posts on your main page, which will have the added benefit of making your page load faster as well.
Number of Comments: A post can have any number of comments. As with archived posts, if you choose to hide comments on your blog, all pre-existing comments will remain saved on your account.
Number of Pictures: Up to 1 GB of total storage, shared with Picasa Web
Size of Pictures: If you are posting pictures through Blogger Mobile there is a limit of 250K per picture.
Team Members: There is a limit of 100 members per blog.
Blog Description: Limited to 500 characters, with no HTML. Adding additional characters or HTML may cause it to revert to a previous setting.
"About Me" Profile Information: Maximum of 1,200 characters.
Profile Interests and Favorites: Maximum of 2,000 characters in each field.
I'm on post 1017, they haven't shut me down yet. :)
ReplyDeleteI have made 2 blog books with blurb.com and I love it. I really like having a hard copy of all my work!
ReplyDeleteJust fyi...
ReplyDeletethe number mary-lue posted is read: Ten-nonillion. But a true 32 digit counter would go to 9 for each digit, not zeros. Which would be read: Ninety-nine nonillion, Nine hundred ninety-nine octillion, 999 septillion, 999 sextillion, 999 quintillion, 999 quadrillion, 999 trillion, 999 billion, 999 million, nine hundred nitey-nine. (99,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999)
Sounds to me like you're safe! Sorry for butting in, I just clicked over here from Angie's blog and was interested in the answers to your questions. I like numbers so I thought I'd chime in.
I have over 1000 posts so #2 is not true. I have no idea about #1. GL with it.
ReplyDeleteSorry I can't answer your questions but, perhaps you can answer one of mine?
ReplyDeleteI read the article about little Reilly a few posts back. The article states that No CF-er can be around another CF-er due to sharing CF related bacteria that they may pass to each other.
In my experience with my boyfriend Andrew, he was allowed to be around other CF-ers most of his life. His best friend was a CF-er who earned her angel wings several years before Andrew. It wasn't until his last 18 months of life that Andrew was kept away from ALL patients, not just CF-ers, in fact he was quarantined to his room, due to a specific bacteria he carried. It was not dangerous to him as a carrier but, getting the bacteria actively could be very dangerous to other immune-supressed individuals.
This was all 7 years ago (since Andrew died). Is it now true that now other CF patients can be around other CF-ers???

p.s. I love your blog and pray for you family often.
I don't know either, but I also wanted to chime in about the book! I used blurb.com and made a hardback book with all the pictures and everything so that we could have a copy in the house to look back on our first missionary leg in Nicaragua. I imagine when we move on from Mexico I will make another one... but hopefully not for a while. I think it would be a great memoir for you guys!
ReplyDeletesitemeter.com is a wonderful alternative to question. You can see who has viewed your page by day, location, url, etc. Its free too!
ReplyDeleteShouldn't be listening to rumors...
ReplyDeleteI have no idea the answers to your questions (especially since my blog will never reach those numbers) and I know you are very busy but there is something on your side bar that has been bothering me..."and Gwyneth is on her way out of the NICU and into our hearts."
ReplyDeleteWe know she is home and doing great but it could confuse other people. Not that we really care about people that don't KNOW you like we do...never mind....Maybe it's just bugging me.
See now why I can't help you with your blogging questions?? LOL
Just put another counter on your blog before the other one hits its limit, if it does have a limit.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have well over 1500 blog posts so that rumor is not true.
Start "cfhusband2" blogspot!
ReplyDeleteI lied.
ReplyDeleteApparently I'm not good at keeping track.
tonight is post 1109.
You can also print your blog at scrapbookblogger.com if you want a hard copy
ReplyDeleteI have over 1000 posts on my blogspot blog. I think you are safe there. Not too sure about the sitemeter though.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I've added a link to your blog on the sidebar of the blog I just created this morning. I am part of a team called Pounding the Pavement for Paige. My neice Paige has CF and we just wrapped our first annual Country Concert for CF on Sunday. It was a great success raising $5000 for CFF. We wanted a way to highlight the pictures and spread the word for next year's event. Please check it out at http://countryconcert-cysticfibrosis.blogspot.com when you have time. If you do not want to be linked, let me know I will remove it.
Thanks,
L
I don't know about the counter thing, but my blog is currently at 1285 posts, and I can pull up the very first one in the archives, so I'm gonna go with no limit to posts and no deletions.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a clue about the counter, but like another post I would suggest you publish your blog. Please check out Kim McNabbs blog to see how her husband Mark has done this. He has set up the proceeds to benefit their childrens christian growth. Thank you for sharing your story of faith and the evidence of God's love through your family. www.kimsprayer.blogspot.com
