Here's a quick little update on the painting. The two bedrooms pictured below are just about done, except for the trim. The living room still needs a few more coats, especially the red.
Gwyneth's Room
Guest Bedroom
Living Room
Didn't even realize it until after that our paint matches our door (not for long, as the door is getting a face-lift as well)
Oooohhh-are you doing a cute little border between the pink and brown in Gwyneth's room? Wall Pops (you can find them at Lowes or online) are adhesive vinyl that doesn't damage the paint, and they come in cute patterns and shapes-GREAT for accenting the split between the colors. I saw someone use their Cricut machine (a die cut machine, if you know any scrapbookers, they can hook you up) to cut the colored vinyl into a really cute border. Oh, the possiblities are endless with adorable little girl rooms!
Love the color choices-it sure makes a difference, doesn't it? We painted red on one wall of our boys' room and was it ever stubborn in getting an even finish! Happy Thanksgiving!
Amazing what some paint can do!!!! It looks wonderful!!!! I know ya'll are so excited to be fixing up a place that is all your own!!! Praying Tricia is feeling good and ya'll have a wonderful thanksgiving..
Not that I'm an expert or anything, but you may need to put a coat of grey base pain on the red wall and then do the red over top. I've seen this work several times and I've seen people struggle with uneven paint, even with lots of layers, if they don't do this. You can ask the 'paint people' at the hardware store about this.
I'm so excited for you all! The house is looking amazing.
awwe! Gwyneths room is going to be just precious! And your living room is pretty much the identical colors I did in my last two houses(before this one) Which means you guys have great taste! lol. I so badly wish I had a reason to paint a room pink and brown...it looks gorgeous :)
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Gwenyth's room!! I really like the other color the rest of your house is going to be too! Happy Painting and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Wow Nate, This is looking so good and when you get the hardwood floors down, it is going to be amazing and so warm. You guys are doing great. Keep up the good work!! And have a blessed Thanksgiving tomorrow with your family.
Wow! Love the colors that you have chosen. My daughters room is pink with big brown circles all over. Gotta love those colors together. But I absolutely LOVE the color in the guest room. Beautiful!
I hope you have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving.
hey Nate, are you guys having the air ducts for the HVAC professionally cleaned? I know this is a huge thing for allergen prone folks, thought it would help your girls too.
wow...you guys work FAST! wanta come work on our house?!?
Wow! It all looks great!! What shade of red is that? We JUST closed on our house today (Wednesday, what a way to celebrate Thanksgiving--moving.) and want our kitchen to be bright red.
Looking good! Happy Thanksgiving. You guys really have alot to be thankful for this year. Hope it's a day spent with family, friends and lots of good food.
It's amazing what a little sunlight and paint will do for you! The house is really shaping up and I am so happy for all of you. There is nothing like owning your grass!
We hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving. We still pray for you everyday. We thank you for allowing us to peak into your lives and share the ups and downs with you. Happy Thanksgiving!
Oooh nice. Love color! For so many years I went too nuetral - your choices are colors you can work with but still feel-good. Darn old red - they have use so much pigment to get that intense color that it waters down the paint and you need so many coats! But what a striking color to work with.
A hint for better painting. My husband is a painter and recommends using a grey primer on your walls before painting bright colors. The clear base paints tend to need 8 coats before they look good. Using a grey primer helps the paint cover better. Hope this helps! Love the Blog!
yes, on the gray paint primer. You'll only need coat of the red after the gray primer. Talk to your paint store. I did a red room, I absolutely love it!
Great paint colors. What is the name of the brown in the living room (the one that matches the door)? I live in an appartment and I would love to find a matching/complementing color in green and I love that brown! What an amazing foot comparison picture!! Any more pug pictures in the works? Heather
