Gwyneth has her first cold (which is amazing at 10 months old). Lot's of nose snot and eye boogies and a little bit of drainage and coughing. Fortunately, she was already scheduled for an appointment with her ped today...the doc said it's only in her head and not in her chest, so we'll just keep her nose clear and wait it out and let her build up some antibodies.
Also, Gwyneth was weighed today...11lbs 12oz!!! She has literally gained about one pound per month since January, which is great.
We're heading to Durham this afternoon. Tricia has two appointments at Duke tomorrow, one with her TX team and one with the cancer docs. We're assuming we'll be told what the next step is for her lymphoma treatment, but at this point (having waited over a month for this info), nothing would surprise us. With Gwyneth in tow, you may not hear from me again about the latest news until Wednesday night or even Thursday morning.
Thanks!
Nate
Praying for Tricia's appointments to go well. On another note, I absolutely love your couch! Where did you find it? The stripes are so bright and cheerful and I'd like to have that in my house! Prayers from South Dakota.

ReplyDeleteWe'll be at Duke tomorrow also! Maybe we'll cross paths.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter Hosanna would love to meet Gwyneth. She's been praying for you all for almost a year.
Blessings,
Marla
Aww, hope she feels better soon and isn't too cranky.
ReplyDeletePraying Miss Gwyneth gets better soon and for your travels and the future plans for Tricia's treatment.
ReplyDeletePRAYING!!! BLESSINGS, JEN IN AL
ReplyDeletePraying Tricia's appointments go well and that Gwyneth is feeling better soon! Hope you all have a safe trip.
ReplyDeleteWow, considering all Gwyneth's health issues at birth, that is amazing that she has not been sick before. She must be covered in prayers!
ReplyDelete..the doc said it's only in her head ...
ReplyDeleteI giggled a bit at that, envisioning you telling Gwyneth to "snap out of it" it's just her imagination making her nose run.
10mths is a long time to go without a cold, good job! They're so pitiful when they're sick, it's great cuddling time!
Poor Gwyneth! How long is she? She's doing so great!
ReplyDeletePraying that Gwyneth get well soon and praying that Tricia's appointments go well.

Tricia and Family xoxox
As always, you guys are in our thoughts!!
ReplyDeleteGwyneth sounds like she is doing well! Tricia and I were due 2 or 3days apart and my 6 1/2 month old weighs 15 lbs... Gwyneth is almost right there with her!
Hi! Thanks for the update. I hope Gwyneth is feeling better soon. 10 months is pretty amazing though to be illness free. We already knew she was amazing so we should not be surprised :-) I hope Tricia's appointments are full of positive hopeful news with another path to recovery in mind. Praying that this is what they spent their whole month thinking, planning and praying for guidance for. Have a safe trip.
ReplyDeletePraying for a safe trip and for Gwyneth to begin feeling better! Thinking of you all! Those colds can be a kicker sometimes :)
ReplyDeleteAh cold season. Hope she feels better soon! She looks great love the recent pictures!
ReplyDeletePraying that Tricia's appts go well.
We'll be praying...
ReplyDeleteThere's something about a big, tough guy like yourself using the word "boogies" that makes me giggle...which, in turn, makes me feel like I'm about 12 years old.
ReplyDeletePraying Lil G gets to feeling better and Tricia's appointments go well!
Will pray that Tricia's appointment brings a treatment plan and that Gwyneth's cold doesn't progress any further.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to the three of you, especially for the next couple days.
ReplyDeleteLots of love
Rachaelx
Have safe travels and great appts!!
ReplyDeleteHope Gwyneth feels better real soon!
Take care
Praying hard for you guys Nate. I hope Tricia receives good news, I really pray for this. Hoping Gwyneth is feeling better soon too. Her weight gain is so great. I sure am praying for you guys.
ReplyDeleteLove, Laurie in Ca.
Praying for you guys!
ReplyDeleteHope you got to see the little bit of snow in the triangle today. After last year's "winter" it was pretty amazing that it snowed in the fall.
I had to laugh that you said "it's all in her head"!!! That's great that it's her first cold, but I hope that Tricia and you don't get sick from her.
ReplyDeleteI'll be praying for your trip and your doctor appts.
Sending prayers for you guys.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck! I will keep you guys in my thoughts!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, and prayers. Hope Gwynneth feels better soon - colds are horrid, as you feel so foul, but it's "only" a cold. Extra fluids will help her get over it faster.
ReplyDeleteAnd looking forward to hearing what they want to do to help Tricia, too.
Poor baby! that is so miserable, and they just don't understand why they feel that way! Is Mommy wearing a mask? You don't have to answer that!!!!
ReplyDeletePraying for some positive word at the appointments tomorrow!
Safe Travels...I hope you get great news and that they have a plan in place to treat Tricia's cancer. As always you are all in our prayers!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Gwyneth has a cold, but I'm glad it's JUST a cold. :)
ReplyDeleteI weighed only 18 pounds at a year old, and I was born at term. True, I was a shrimp, but...
She's doing great, it seems.

ReplyDeletePraying for good news for Tricia tomorrow and safe travels for your family.
I have been following your story for a long time now. I just want you to know that I will be praying for Tricia as she travels back to Duke. Being an oncology nurse, I can imagine what she's been going through. I also hope Gwyneth bounces back quickly. Many prayers for your family.
ReplyDeletePraying for your appointments and for good health.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear about your new house! We just got the keys to ours as well. It's exciting/a bit stressful.
Also praying little Gwyneth gets better soon.
Praying for all of you!! And as others have already said.....good job on keeping Gwyneth cold free for 10 whole months! Our 3 and a half year old with CF had her first cold at 3 weeks old...and we were(are) super careful ALL the time!
ReplyDeleteYour story is incredible. Tricia sounds like a fantastic mom and you are a special dad.
ReplyDeleteGwyneth is a lucky little girl.
Happy Days ahead for all of you.
I will say a prayer.
Claudie from Canada
Hi KayKay...although I deleted your comment, I thought I'd respond...
ReplyDelete1) You're assuming we are going to clinic.
2) You're assuming that, if we are going to clinic, you know what our specific clinic appointments consist of.
3) You're assuming that we don't fully understand and appreciate what "immunocompromised" means, that it would be impossible (or at least difficult) to safely take a baby with a cold into a situation like you've described, and that we wouldn't take the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe.
4) You're assuming that we don't know how to best care for our preemie baby.
Here's what surprises me (as always)...that those who claim to have been following our story for more than a few minutes would doubt our ability and judgment in caring for ourselves and those we come into contact with. Expect the best of people.
Thank you for your prayers.
Nate
We'll be and have been praying for all of you, especially Tricia! Have safe travels.
ReplyDeleteshes teething
ReplyDeleteDrive carefully and we'll be praying for all of you. Her first head cold at age 10 months attests to the excellent care and protection you give her. A little clogged/runny nose doesn't last long in little ones, just causes concern for Mom and Dad.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and happy.
Love to all.
Get well soon little princess!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Gwyneth's cold. Hope she is better fast. Glad it not a chest cold.
ReplyDeletePraying for Tricia as she is embarking on these appointments. You to Nate. I know its hard at times as the support person.
Hopefully you will find out some info on the lymphoma as well today.I know waiting stinks.
Figures in for Michigan's Light the Night..LLS $500,000 funds still coming in.So a good year in behalf of those fighting blood cancers.
Praying that everything went well today. When you have a minute please pray for this family. They need all the prayers they can get. http://www.kayleighannefreeman.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for everything to go well regarding Tricia's next appointment and wisdom with the doctor's decisions.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new house!
Many prayers for Gwyneth and Tricia and for you too Nathan
ReplyDeleteas well as a safe trip
Stumbled on to your website...I'm not even sure how.
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, having a family member (great niece) with CF, I immediately wanted to know all about y'all!
I am going to add you to my blog so that I can follow your story...
And praying that God will see you through it all!
Blessings!
~Beth
