As you may have seen in the last post (the video from ABC), Tricia, Gwyneth and I celebrated a "reverse birthday" during our visit with the NICU. Tricia wrapped a bunch of Gwyneth's preemie clothes to give to current NICU residents. We also wrote a short note (see below) to be handed out with the gifts. We pray that the gifts and note are an encouragement to those who are experiencing the preemie roller coaster right now...
One of the families who received some of Gwyneth's clothes that day even left a comment on the blog a few days ago to let us know a little about their situation. I hope you'll spend a moment in prayer with us for the many families who are living, right now, with their premature babies in NICUs all over the world.
Thanks!
Nate
Aw, that is awesome you guys! I am an ultrasound tech, and I scan preemies all the time...it is heartbreaking sometimes. Will definately continue to pray for those with preemies around the world! Blessings on you and Happy REVERSE Birthday!!!!
ReplyDelete"Comforting others, with the comfort we ourselves have received"....beautiful...as always I love reading your story unfold. Thanks for the blessing
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing to do. Y'all are always thinking of others. Just one of the many, many things I like about your family!
ReplyDeletethat is so amazing. I cannot imagine that Gwyneth was that small. Such a beautiful, yet hard, story the Lord has painted for you.

That is such a great idea! And to see how well Gwyneth is doing will be uplifting to those families!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea and blessing - it's always encouraging to hear of others who have traveled a similar path. You are God's shining light and I love how you use your story to encourage others.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing way to celebrate Gwyneth's birthday by giving back and encouraging others. God bless you as you bless those who are walking the uncertain road. Gwyneth is adorable! I especially loved the "Bath Hair" post.
ReplyDeletePrayers going up right now for all the little babies..... God Is So Good....
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous thing you are doing! You are definitely paying it forward! More people need to be as giving and generous as you all are.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great thing you guys did! I love the letter.
ReplyDeleteAgain, your post has left me in tears. I am a NICU nurse in Texas and I take my calling very seriously. The babies I care for and their parents are very close to my heart. Your generosity in sharing Gwyneth's clothes touches me deeply. I see firsthand the difference these kinds of blessings make in the lives of very scared parents. Your family has been an inspiration to me as you have shared your lives so transparently. Thank you for blessing others in such a unique way.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Karen

I would like to do this for our local NICU in honor of your family. I am in the DFW (Dallas, Ft. Worth Texas) area, and would love to be able to donate some clothing and supplies to our local hospitals. Is there anyway you could post some suggestions as what to include in the package? And could I do a letter mentioning your families name as the reason I am doing this? I am so inspired by your blog, and I myself had a two children in the NICU, not near as long as Gwyenth, but it is a difficult time. Anyways I would love to help out around here in honor of you and your family. You guys are awesome! I pray for you all everyday! my email is ashleysaper@gmail.com. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am sure many will feel encouraged from your note.
ReplyDeleteThe news story was great.
What a blessing to all the other families. I love that you did that... My brother and sister in law did a similar thing on Christmas Eve. My brother had gone through chemo/radiation this fall and so on Christmas Eve he and my sis-in-law took blankets she had made and a letter he had written to all the patients receiving chemo. I love that God can turn struggle to good. That other can be blessed.
ReplyDeleteThank you guys for sharing your story. Thank you for your hearts. I know God is smiling at you!
Beautiful way to pay it forward you guys. You get it!! I am so thankful for the example you set for so many thousands of people. I know these parents will be so blessed.
ReplyDeleteLove and Hugs, Laurie
Bless you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea!!! And a great way to honor Gwyneth's birthday. Brought tears to my eyes!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful way to celebrate Gwyneth's birthday! I'm aure it will bless many families during a really hard time in their lives.
ReplyDeleteThat was wonderful. I know you will and are blessing lots of families.
ReplyDeleteWow, it is so easy to forgot just how small she really was!!!
So, so, so cool. I promise I am blessed by your family each and every time I visit your blog (which is JUST about every post).
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, y'all rock.
How nice. Thank you for passing the blessings on to others.
ReplyDeleteThat was a truly awesome idea. And what a wonderful gift you gave to a few deserving NICU families...not only some clothes, but a little comfort too. I can just imagine how heartwarming that would have been during either of our NICU stays. - Stacey
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great way to celebrate Gwyneth's life and to acknowledge the work of the NICU nurses and doctors. We did the same thing for our NICU on Abrahams first bday. They greatly appreciated it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful way to commemorate a milestone. I did the same thing when my twins turned one, and it was very fulfilling to return to the NICU where they had received so much love and dedicated care to be able to give something (albeit small) back to other babies.
ReplyDeleteI am with you in prayer, always, for preemies and their families.
wow. what an awesome gift you have given...not just the preemie outfits, but your encouragement to those on a path you know so well.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh man, what a touching updated news report! You are a miracle family and have been through so much. Going back to the NICU can be so hard, remembering those early days. That is really neat that they could capture some of that experience and share it with us.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a sweet dad, and of course Trisha is such a strong soul. Blessings to your sweet family.
-Patty
