Let me introduce you to Evaine Claire ("Evaine" is pronounced like the name "Elaine"). She was born last Thursday morning, just a day before her due date and just under 8lbs. She's beautiful!
Congrats to Rachel and Ramon! Can you guess where her parents got her first name from?
Nate

ps. Evaine is beautiful... check out all that dark hair.
So Evaine is totally pronounced like Elaine? The V sounds like an E?

ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! I'm in love with that hair, too! I'm curious about the name
ReplyDeleteShe's absolutely adorable! And isn't Evaine a name from the novel/movie "Stardust"?
ReplyDeleteStardust!!! Gorgeous name for a gorgeous little girl. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThink her hair is longer than mine...so lovely. I believe Evaine is the sister of wife of Sir Lancelot from Knights of the Round Table and hence she was the aunt of Sir Galahad.
ReplyDeletecongrats to everyone! she sure is precious.
ReplyDeleteLove the name. I'm so glad to know our baby is not the only one who will suffer the "how do you pronounce that?" issues. By the way, our new baby's name is Ceili Rain (Kaylee Rain for pronunciations...and those two names are her first name!)
ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful! SO MUCH HAIR! Must be a family thing.... ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove and prayers,

There are two sources for the name Evaine.
ReplyDeleteEvaine is a Hebrew derivation for Eve or Eva.
Evaine was the wife of King Bors in Arthurian legend. She was the sister to Elaine.
just googled it,
ReplyDeleteLife in the Hebrew language. More popular in the form of "Eva" in the mid-19th century. Eve is actually the French form of the name Eva. Of course, it is more well-known for its appearance, in the Book of Genesis in the Bible, in the story of Adam and Eve.
am I right?!
She is gorgeous! I am sure that she will be spoiled with love. Congratulations to your whole family!
ReplyDeleteOh she is beautiful. Yay Gwyneth - you have cousin! Congrats to your sister and brother-in-law!
ReplyDeleteWould you look at that GORGEOUS baby!!! ALMOST as cute as Gwyneth... actually they are tied.
ReplyDeleteShe's a sweetie! Is the name a combination of two family members?...like Evelyn and Elaine? Or even a mix of Evelyn and Wayne, after a great-grandma and grandpa?
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the beach pictures too. So much love in them all.
Blessings,
Joy
the movie stardust???
ReplyDeleteI don't have a guess on the name, but WOW does that girl ever have a head full of hair!!
ReplyDeletePrecious baby!! Congratulations, Rachel & Ramon!! I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to learning where the name came from, it's lovely!
Kathrine Kurtz Deryni books? We have a "Kelson" from those.
ReplyDeleteShe is gorgeous! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteApparently 'Evaine' had a son who achieved the Holy Grail. But different websites seem to have completely different explanation of the meaning of the name...??
ReplyDeleteGot one saying it's an Irish name meaning 'young warrior' and the other saying it comes from the name 'Eve' and another saying about the Arthurian legend of Evaine being King B's wife.
But if Evaine is a character in Stardust, I'm guessing from there....!
gywneth and evaine - aren't they similar? you guys have a penchant for Welsh/British Isles names. Both belong in a book about them or inspired by them! evaine - french spelling of eve?

Her hair made me smile. My youngest had a head full of fuzzy black hair when he was born. When he had his hospital picture taken, they lady kept trying to smooth it down and it would bounce right back up....LOL!
