Tricia did awesome today. She sat in her chair for most of the day, took a walk up and down the ICU hallway (twice) and stayed off the vent for 7 hours straight! She'll try to go even longer tomorrow! Needless to say she is exhausted and ready for some sleep.
Gwyneth is about the same, which is a good thing. They're keeping a close watch on her and doing a lot of precautionary stuff. She is sleeping and breathing like a champ, so it's obvious that she could care less what's going on inside her belly, so that makes us feel a little easier. As soon as her GI stuff gets well, they'll stick a feeding tube down her throat and give her a few more drops of breast milk.
I am hanging with Tricia tonight, although I may head home if she sleeps as well as I'm hoping she will.
Here are a few pics from the past few days!
Check in tomorrow morning around 9am EST...I promise that my next post will be the best ever!
Nate
Nathan...the suspense is killing me...we have to wait until 9AM?
ReplyDeleteThat little girl is growing before out eyes! :-) Praise God for the progress Tricia made today. You all are in my prayers often each day.
ReplyDeleteSuch a precious little angel. Praying her tummy gets better quickly and that Tricia continues to do well. So happy she had such a successful day. Love you guys! God's love and peace, Cousin Amy
ReplyDeleteTricia - So THRILLED to hear that you were up and walking the hallways today! Sounds like you had a GREAT day! Praying for many, many more GREAT days for you and your precious baby girl!

Nate,
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful news about Tricia. I'm so glad to read that! Tricia, if you are reading this, you're doing AWESOME!
Love the pics of Gwyneth--has anyone told you today how beautiful she is??
The best post EVER?? I'm so intrigued....
Continuing to pray and thank the Lord for all of you!

Gwyneth is looking so much older! She is a beauty! So glad Tricia is thriving and hoping that the GREAT news is a near (re)union! Praying, praying for the three of you!
ReplyDeleteAawww, I just love all of Gwyneth's lunago. She's just precious. And perfect. Yay! for Tricia walking and breathing on her own.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I can handle the suspense...I wait anxiously for each and EVERY post!!!
ReplyDeleteI had a c-section a year ago and I know how GREAT it feels to get those legs working again (and that's after 2 days, I can't imagine 2+weeks!) Get every ounce of rest now, both of you, because that beauty queen is going to squeeze every drop of love out of you (don't worry, you'll find more in tiny crevices called worry wrinkles!) Sooooooo happy for all of you!
Praying for your visiting family's safe journeys...and, of course, the Lawrenson Three!
Refreshing (and always praying) in Ohio!
I have to agree with the other posts... I thought I was crazy, but Gwyneth is looking more and more like a healthy baby and not a 24 week preemie. She looks so sweet... and her mom has got to be the toughest person I have ever known. I think if I ever met Tricia in person I would just start crying. She's a walking miracle and reminds me so much of my friend who had CF... she lives every minute to the fullest. I also have been a competitive runner for years, just ran my 1st half-marathon (actually it was the OBX Half-Marathon) and I hope to run a marathon someday, and I have to say Tricia is so gutsy and has so much determination, she inspires me.
ReplyDeleteconstantly praying for you all...
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me and I don't know you (other than through blog world :-), but I've enjoyed "meeting" your wonderful family and my family and I will be praying for you. I'm the mommy of 2 beautiful, healthy children for which I praise God and I praise Him also for people like you all who are living with trials like this yet still seek to praise the Lord and do your very best to glorify Him with your lives. Thank you for being willing to "share" your family with the world. Just wanted you to know that someone in Ecuador, SA will be praying for you too. (And waiting for that next post :-)
ReplyDeleteAwwws... she's beautifull...but you already knew that!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear T did 7 hours off the vent! Way to go!
Ok, so unless T gets new lungs by 9am...how will tomorrow post be the best ever?

ReplyDeleteI remember how sitting in the chair can just EXHAUST you--kudos to Tricia for doing it! (And I bet she complained a lot less than I did-- ha!)
I will definitely check back tomorrow morning! Have a WONDERFUL night.
Once again I'm struck by the beauty of your little miracle. She is as fuzzy as my son was! And has as much blonde hair as he did too! thanks for the new pictures!

You are all in my prayers continously.

With praise and prayers,
The Edwards family
Can't wait for update... Hope it's a reunion too, if that's God's will.
ReplyDeleteAs the Grandmother of a "6 months in the NICU, touch and go, roller coasters have nothing on this" baby, it is good, (no AWESOME!), to see that you take "holding her own" so well. The NICU was a totally new experience to me, as both of my babies were born healthy and happy. They warned us about the ups and downs, but I had absolutely no idea what a ride it would actually turn out to be. One thing I have learned, life changes daily in the NICU, but babies make THE BEST patients...beacause; unlike the rest of us, they are... PATIENT. NICU nurses are so FAITHFUL, they witness miracles every day, and their dedication and faithfulness is a testament to the power of prayer. Glad to hear Tricia is doing so well. Please let her know that the late nite pics and beautiful smiles are making the world smile back at her. She is spreading God's grace....one smile at a time. I cannot begin to tell you how much you have brightened my day. Although this year with my new grandson has made me realize more than ever that God's hand is guiding my life, reading your progress every day reinforces in me that He is ever present, and is guiding my life in the direction that serves him most. God bless you both. Your family is remarkable, but you already know that.
ReplyDeleteGodspeed,
Candi
Is there a sight sweeter than the rear view of a baby's head, neck, back with those tiny legs curled up against the chest? It pulls at the heartstrings. I know how anxious you must be to finally hold your daughter and feel her warmth against your own chest. I remember the yearning from 34 years ago when my first son was born prematurely. The sheer joy and satisfaction of holding your child untethered for the first time is indescribable. It's worth waiting for. I send my best to your sweet family.
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute! I'm so glad everyone is doing well!
ReplyDeleteAnd gee wiz, make us wait for another update...don't you know everyone is addicted!
All your posts are awesome, but I just love the pics of the back of little Gwyneth's head. What a little doll! :o) Can't wait to see tomorrow's post!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope Mommy and baby Gwyneth get to meet soon!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
ReplyDeletebreath girls, BREATH!
ReplyDeleteYeah GOD!!!
SEVEN hours!
praying for sleep and rest for both your beauties Nate!
what a beautiful ,beautiful baby girl cant wait till 9am:)
ReplyDeleteINCREDIBLE! That sweet baby is just soooo amazing! She is breathtaking. I am amazed at God's goodness and faithfulness to you to entrust you guys with such a miracle. And you are taking all of this in stride and giving God all the glory.
ReplyDeleteDo you really realize that you ARE a miracle? This little family, this amazing story is a MIRACLE! In 2008! Unfolding each and every day. And YOU are living it! God definitely is smiling down on you. May you just bask in his goodness and mercy.
Just wanted to let you know that I am praying for Tricia and Gwyneth, especially for her bowels! I will say a little prayer for her everytime I change my little girl's diaper. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your little one! These pictures really bring back memories for me. I was directed to your site by a family member who shared your story with me. My name is Amanda and I am the mother of a (former) 24 week old preemie. His name is Justice Barrett and he weighed 1 lb 5 oz. He was born at Duke and stayed in the NICU for 4 months. He is now 5 years old and even though that part of our lives is a little bit behind us I still have vivid memories about our experiences there. I just thought that I would reach out and let you know that I have been there (well, the preemie part at least). I will continue to check the site for updates and I will pray for you, Tricia, and Gwyneth. Please feel free to contact me if you would like.
ReplyDeleteYAAAAAAAAY!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell done Tricia thats some walking and doesn't Gwyneth look sooooooo comfy all snuggled up, she's beautiful.
Praying for continual progress and strength.
Nate and Tricia.......Great news! I am so glad to hear the progress. And how about that Gwyneth? She is truely amazing.
ReplyDeleteAs I read your last posts, all the updates and comments from other people, I can only think of My favorite song......and my favorite line in it.......
How Great thou art.
Continued prayers for the three of you.
Such a sweetie pie. That little face and those long fingers. I like how the pointer finger is extended in a couple photos as if to say...I'm "ONE" more miracle to thank God for today. 9am huh, now just how do you think I'm going to contain the suspense until then...it's 4:15am and it's already killing me! Prayers for your roses. Heather
ReplyDeleteEvery day I'm completely blown away by the progress Tricia's making. I know I really shouldn't be considering how the Lord works to take care of those who love Him. I don't see how you can possibly top some of your previous posts. But you do have some very beautiful material to work with. I'll keep praying without ceasing to our gracious, loving Lord for all of you and your family's every need to be met. Your brother in Christ, Tommy
ReplyDeletePraise God for Tricia's progress! Awesome. And little Gwyneth is so precious. Beautiful pictures. Still praying for you guys all the time...
