(((Tricia))) I wish you could drink water & do all the things you miss, too. My continued prayers for you to get listed & then quickly receive your new lungs so that you can go home with your beautiful daughter & husband and enjoy life with them, doing the things you love to do.
I praise God for continuing to provide you with daily strength and hope.
Tricia, you are just the cutest little dickens. I'm an old lady so I can get by with calling you a "dickens". If you're too young to have heard of the term, it's a compliment...although I can't tell you where it came from. It's just a good thing, that's all. You're a natural beauty with no need for makeup. In fact, makeup would detract. Keep up the good fight, sweetheart. You've got a lot of people rooting on the three of you....whatever "rooting" means. Can't answer that one either I'm afraid.
Tricia...I will work my hardest at remembering you each time I do one of these. Singing especially...it's my passion. I love it. I'm so excited to finally see a post from you. Thank you for teaching me not to take life, or any of it's beautiful blessings for granted.
I can't wait til the day you're able to post that you've once again done all these things. :) Til then, I'm praying for it.
My name is Edward Cuthbert and I am grateful for your continuous committment in seeking Christ through this time. You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers and I hope and pray that you receive your lungs. I hope you are encouraged through this time through how much people love you and care about you! I did not know you before this moment, however, I am glad to know you now! God loves you all and He is your strength!
Hi Tricia, I'd happily give you my singing voice, but then I remembered that my singing voice would probably scare you. All the dogs in the neighbourhood howl when I sing, and the birds flee from the garden...
I hope this week will be a good and promising one for you. (I'm also 'rooting' for you, like an above commenter said, and I have no idea what it means either, but I'll say it anyway... )
Sending you a massive (((HUG))) I'm also 'rooting' for you Nate and Gwyneth, I think it means we're all standing alongside you in your journey and wishing you all the very best each day or something like that.
Tricia, thanks for sharing a glimpse into your thoughts and feelings. You don't know me but I know you father-in-law best in the family. My prayer will be for you to see and do all those things and more! Lord bless you!
Tricia, what wonderful pictures, all I am sure hold very sweet memories for you. Praying for God's healing and perfect timing for you, Gwyenth and Nate. That you may also look forward to making many memories as a family; exploring, enjoying and singing praises to God for all of His miraculous wonders through your lives. P.S. Your little sweet rose is so precious. God's gifts are amazing! Here is a warm hug from a mom of 6, from cold Alaska
Good morning Tricia. Nice to see your blog entry. The list you wrote is a reminder to the rest of us of a lot of the little things in life we take for granted. Looking forward to seeing your smiling face out there again! (oh yeah, and Nate too!:))
Keeping you in my prayers, and looking forward to watching more of God's handiwork in this situation. He has done GREAT things through the lives of you, Nate, and Gwyneth!!
My prayer is for the desires of your heart to come to you. The awesome part is that when prayer is answered you have no idea how much better those things will be by looking at them through your daughters eyes.
You are BEAUTIFUL- inside and out!---it has been an awesome privilege to get to know you and ALL your family-- through you all- there is no doubt what an awesome God we all have who loves us! Thanks- for sharing....praying for your wishes and dreams to come true.........soon~
Hey Sweetie! It's always encouraging to see you post! We all are praying fervently for both of you guys up here - and for strength and peace for Nathan. We love you... Sheryl, NJ
What an encouragement to see you post. Oh how small my problems seem this morning compared to what you and your family are enduring.
Psalm 37 comes to mind
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
Praying that you get to do all those things again that you mentioned in your post and that the Lord grants you the desires of your heart as you depend on HIM.
Praying that your precious daughter continues to blossom and grow stronger, She has the strengh and tenacity of her mother for sure.
Praying that the Lord holds up your precious husband and family as they support you and Gwyneth though these trying times.
Praying for your lung transplant and the donor family. Trusting that the Lord will bring all this to pass in his perfect timing.
Keep hanging in there and one day in the future you'll be able to do all these fun things again, this time it will be more fun since you'll have Gwyneth to do them with you. Hope you have a great and blessed day.
Prayers for you. It felt good to know that you had the energy to update your blog. Your a blessing. I spent time in the hospital too and it does get old. Things do seem to look a little closer than they did. Your doing great. Look to your Daddy God. Big Hugs, Christy http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/sharpcrew
What a great way to start a Monday morning. I went to Tricia's blog and the picture of the guy in the blue shirt with the dog made me laugh out loud. Oh the things we take for granted--loved your list.
I heard this song late last week and thought of the two of you. It's by George Strait - I wanted to share the lyrics with the two of you.
I have been following your blog since the birth of your daughter - what a miracle.....
I Saw God Today
Here are the lyrics for "I Saw God Today" Just walked down the street to the coffee shop Had to take a break I'd been by her side for 18 hours straight Saw a flower growin' in the middle of the sidewalk Pushin' up through the concrete Like it was planted right there for me to see The flashin' lights The honkin' horns All seemed to fade away In the shadow of that hospital at 5:08 I saw God today
I've been to church I've read the book I know he's here But I don't look Near as often as I should Yeah, I know I should His fingerprints are everywhere I just slowed down to stop and stare Opened my eyes and man I swear I saw God today
Saw a couple walkin' by they were holdin' hands Man she had that glow Yeah I couldn't help but notice she was startin' to show it Stood there for a minute takin' the sky Lost in that sunset Splash of amber melted in the shades of red
I've been to church I've read the book I know he's here But I don't look Near as often as I should Yeah, I know I should His fingerprints are everywhere I just slowed down to stop and stare Opened my eyes and man I swear I saw God today
Got my face pressed up against the nursery glass She's sleepin' like a rock My name on her wrist Wearin' tiny pink socks She's got my nose, she's got her mama's eyes My brand new baby girl She's a miracle I saw God today
It is wonderful to see an update on your website! Following this journey with you, Nate & Gwyneth has caused me to pause and cherish so many things in life that I used to take for granted.
Praying for you to receive those new lungs soon and be well enough to spend some time in Hawaii alone with Nate and Gwyneth before the end of the year! :)
We are praying that you get to do all of those things again soon!!! We love you, admire your spirit, and can't wait to see you making even better memories with your husband and daughter!!! ~ Dana and Wil Haupfear
Hey Tricia, I just wanted to let you know I was praying for you and I read your blog all the time. I met you once in the OBX while my bible study was having a retreat there. You came to visit the Byrds. I remember you. (-: I also attend FBC and I attend MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and one of the women at my table said she remembers you from youthgroup and she also said she reads this blog. (-: I just wanted you to know and I am praying for you. You are a very strong person. And I know it is only by God's strength that we get through things so I am praying that God continues to give you strength. God Bless!!!!! Irene
Tricia- We have all fallen in love with your vigor for life and pray that soon you return to the freedom and wonderful monotiny of daily life. Thanks for sharing your life, and your husband and your family wit the world. In return for sharing your story we offer many thousands of prayers up on your behalf. Hugs from Rachel in PA
Tricia, I can't wait for you to enjoy all those things again. Thank you for reminding me to enjoy the little blessings that I take for granted each day. You are so beautiful!!
Love your blog post, Tricia! So colorful and a great review of all the things you love and miss. I pray and truly hope you will get to do/have these things again many times in the future.
Certainly reminds me how much we take things for granted! I may not be able to leave comments tomorrow to newer posts since I'm having surgery to remove one bad parathyroid gland (resulting in high blood calcium level, which isn't good long-term). I continue to pray all goes well for you and Gwyneth, and that you'll be able to have the lung transplant soon!
Tricia, as so many have already said, it is great to hear from you and know that you're feeling up to blogging. I've been praying for you, your precious Gwyneth, and Nate. (Sorry… I just couldn't bring myself to call him precious or beautiful, but he's a wonderful husband.) What an awesome, mighty God we serve! Your faith and trust in Him is such an inspiration to us all. You are truly beautiful inside and out. Your face reflects your Father's love.
My father-in-law contracted West Nile Virus last August, and has been on a respirator since then. They have begun weaning him off the vent, but since he is 82, it's a long slow journey for him. He is just beginning to be able to eat solid food again. Yesterday, to celebrate their 57th anniversary, he got to have a few bites of ice cream. He has a CaringBridge site and would appreciate your prayers. You can find him Here .
Thanks to you both for sharing your journey with us. I almost feel like I know you.
I've never met you but would love to one day. You guys are the cutest couple with amazing faith. It's an honor to be a part of this season in your life. We'll keep praying for you.
Thank-you for those prayer points Tricia - I know how to pray for you more specifically now! so glad to hear of the continual little "Gwyneth steps" of improvement going on - God is so good, all of the time!
Tricia, As I've told Nate before, I'm not super religious, but I think of you, Gwyneth & Nate often & love hearing your updates! I think that the fact that you miss those things is a good sign, it gives you something to fight for & look forward to. The day you start enjoying living in a hospital would be the day I start to really worry about you! I cannot imagine what you are going through, but I do know that your patience & streght are an inspriation to me!! Keep it up & all the best mate, xx
Thanks for the update on your blog. I am praying for all those points; that you will be able to do them again SOON.
Loved all the pics--especially the one of Gwyneth in the crocheted blanket with the bow in her hair.
BTW: The pic of you out side the hospital was so color coordinated: your headband matched your wristbands which matched your "Dress". You are always styling.
Tricia, You don't know me either, but just know that you have SOOO many people out there rooting for you!!! I'm a mom living in Texas, and I just think that you and Nate are the cutest couple. You are so blessed to have each other. The love you share shines through. Your daughter is adorable!!! I just know she is a fighter and going to get stronger everyday. That bow and matching blanket was too cute. You are in my prayers and you keep those warm thoughts in your mind and heart, because you can and will do all those things again! Tracie
Tricia, So great to see a post from you. I agree with all of the other posters that you are just a cutie~ a beautiful person, both inside and out. As I sit here in 20 degree Indiana weather (it was 2 degrees last night!), I can totally identify with your desire for sunshine on your skin. I envy your Year round residence in OBX! We visit whenever we can to Whalehead in Corolla. I miss Tulio's pastry shop. (sorry, CF appetite) I am a 34 year old woman with CF, married 15 years to my soulmate, Mike. I am "retired" from new home construction sales and stay at home with my baby boy (3 years old). He is the light of my life. I was attracted to your story after reading a post on Cystic-L requesting prayer for you. I read Nathan's blog and your story touched my heart. I immediately wrote an email and forwarded Nathan's link to my entire email list (200+). Those that know my husband and I know how close your story hits home with us. We went through a very similar thing with the exception of my CF team telling me "congratulations, clinically you have always done well" when I found out I was pregnant. Things went to heck pretty fast in my 3rd trimester and I, too, delivered my baby via emergency C-section under general anesthesia. I was in ICU while my baby was sent home healthy. (without mama :-( ) He came back through ER at 5 days of age and its a long story at that point. He and I eventually went home together on the same day weeks later. I have been through the rehabilitation (pulmonary and mentally!) Right now my marriage is suffering and we are working on that. If you get a chance, google Welcome to Holland and read the poem. That's my new life. I love many many aspects of it and my little guy is coming a long way.
I tell you all of this not to ramble on about myself, but to EMPHASIZE to you that I have been through it, sister!! I am now a huge advocate for special needs children and work tirelessly to ensure his and my medical recovery. I am well versed in therapies, alternative therapies, and sources of support.
If I can ever be a source of support, a friend, a person to ask, "where do you find....?", "Have you tried?" please don't hesitate to email me. Nathan has my email. (Melissa, Mike, and Brendon Roark)
Your story is inspiring and God has your new little family (as well as your extended family) in His hands. I am humbled and in awe at the power of prayer.
I can't tell you how inspiring you and your husband are! It is refreshing to hear of others who TRULY value the sanctity of life. What a blessing children are from God. You all are in my family's daily prayers. May God continue to bless you all abundantly throughout this challenging time.
Tricia! So good to read your blog! I'll keep reading as long as you and Nate keep writing! Bless you both during these times. I pray that your spirits will be UP and that those new lungs will be coming your way VERY SOON!!!! Keep fighting and BELIEVING!!!! Much love to you both!
Wow, amazing how much Tricia and I have in common! First is of course my faith in God, I don't know how I would be able to get through all the trials with CF without God! I was also homeschooled (along with my six siblings, two brothers also had CF). But I didn't miss out socially, I love like she said we are marked that if we are homeschooled we are 'socially backwards' but I had the best time, friends and didn't have to complain about teachers or stupid homework!
I also love her new post and the things she is looking forward too, I too am looking forward to a lot of those things, I love singing and use to be able to sing, now I can't and miss it a ton.
Driving, I really don't drive anymore because my husband has the car all day and then when I do go out it's usually with him! I mostly want freedom again to go run errands etc... without oxygen and getting tired.
wearing clothes....okay I do wear clothes but I wear jammies (yoga pants with long sleeve shirt) all day long! I don't get dressed I just change jammies! It's just too much work for me and I don't go anywhere and they are more comfortable to lounge in than jeans, but I haven't actually been shopping for clothes in over a year! how sad!
getting some sun on your skin....now this one I will do once the sun finally comes out, my oxygen tube is long enough that I can sit out back and soak up some sun and watch the dogs play, that one I am looking forward too alot.
I can't remember other ones but just know I do know a lot of what you are going through. I keep you (Tricia, Gwyneth, and Nate) in my prayers daily. I hope to see that you were put on the transplant list soon!
Tricia, You don't know me but I have read your story and followed your success! :)
I know what it feels like to be homesick while you're sitting miles away from your home and wondering when you will be back! But through prayers and faith I do believe you will be back with your family and friends soon! Keep your wonderful faith and lean not on your own understanding. Your husband does such a wonderful job of keeping everyone updated and it's so wondereful to hear such great news! Keep getting better. That's all you have to do.
Tricia and Nathan, again and again thanks for sharing you beautiful story and faith, praying for you and your little " ROSE " I read this and I ´d love to share with you ... "And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you." Psalm 39:7
"God is the author of all HOPE and he will never leave your side as you walk through the dark, confusing, lonely and painful places in your life. He will replace your clouds of despair with the brilliant, penetrating light of his everlasting love. He will fill your heart with peace and your mind with wisdom and understanding." From Moments of Peace in the Presence of God.
Youre beautiful and I can´t wait for the day to see you out of the hospital just taking care of your family and doing the "ordinary things" you miss so much.
Sorry for my english, With love, Luciana RJ- Brazil
Tricia, In reading your thoughts this morning, it occurred to me one reason why I am so fascinated with your story. Yes, you are indeed extraordinary in that you have CF, a premature infant. But really, you are an orninary woman like most of us out here. God works miracles in ORDINARY WOMEN'S lives and you are living proof. Thank you for sharing so intimately your life in living with CF, your life with Nate, and now your life with Gwyneth. You are proof that God can and does work modern day miracles with ordinary people. We don't have to be Moses or a leper, or a paralytic...we can be women, men, babies, children from far and wide and His love stretches as far as we can imagine and He does live and breath and work in our lives today! Keep on keepin' on and know how much you are loved by many Christian brothers and sisters out here!
Tricia, You are my hero. Your faith is so inspiring. My daughter and I are praying for you daily! I just know that there will be a happily ever after in your story. My church will be praying for you on the 23rd. Hang in there!
Nate, If you want to delete this, I'm OK with it. But I want to address this recent comment: "Yeah, I guess it was totally worth risking your health to bring that baby into the world, especially since you're apparently not looking forward to doing anything with her at all.
February 11, 2008 12:04 PM"
Anonymous poster - Maybe you didn't really care to carefully read the post you're commenting on from Tricia's blog, but she wrote about the things she missed due to her hospitalization. It wasn't about what she had yet to experience, like being a mother to her baby.
Your response is totally without basis, ignorant of the well-documented desires Tricia has for her relationship with her child and is obviously founded on a bias against her choice for life.
You totally missed it. Thank God for all who get it.
It's so nice to see something from Tricia...it is obvious you have a sweet soul!! Here's the bright side...when you get better and you walk out of those hospital doors and into your closet, it will feel like a whole new wardrobe!!! You and your sweet family are always in my prayers.
Tricia, Thank you for sharing so much of who you are with the world. You truly have a gentle and quiet spirit! Our whole family prays for you daily. I just know God has amazing things planned for you this coming week. I noticed on your blog how you said how much you love summertime, I truly believe you will be back on the beach with Gwyneth and a new set of lungs so you can breathe in the sea air! How wonderful that will be! Praying today is a good day! Kristin
Your post definitely gave some insight on the simple things we take for granted...thanks for the reminder! Now go give that beautiful little girl some Mommy attention....she is definitely a blessing! And to Nate....baby feet are just about the cutest little things in this world!
Tricia - a/k/a Wonderwoman! So good to read a post from you - not that I don't enjoy Nate's, but knowing you are up to a post makes my heart sing! I can't wait for your life to be back to normal and for you to experience all the little things you miss - a very good reminder not to take things for granted for me. Seeing good news about you and Gwyneth is a highlight of my day. You keep getting stronger and know that you and your sweet family have found special places in the hearts of so many of us out in here in cyberland. Your daughter is beyond precious.
so nice to see a post from you! Like others, I don't know you but, your family's story has greatly encouraged me. Looking forward to reading more great things about your journey. Still praying for you in Texas!
Tricia, You will do all those things again because God has such blessings for you and darling little Rose. Keep the faith that you have and sit back for the ride of your life because I beleive God is going to do great things. Keeping you in my prayers. I wish I could see you and give you a big bear hug being the mother I am I love to give bear hugs and make someone smile.
Continuing to pray for you (Tricia), your husband, and your miracle. And continuing to be blessed by your story, your strength, your faith, and simply you. Thanks for letting those you will never meet this side of heaven peek into your life. we are blessed to have a look.
BIG HUGS coming your way! I know how terrible it is when people say/write the ugliest/ignorant things possible...it is just heartbreaking. Please know that you are loved very much by so many who have never even met you and that you are a TRUE inspiration to me. My son was born premature with a congenital heart defect, among other birth defects...and he has been in and out of the hospital a lot over the past year and a half..he has had 2 open heart surgeries and he has almost died on more than one occassion...yet, he is still here...being a typical toddler, driving me crazy at times! :) Why he is here, my gosh, God works wonderful and amazing miracles and my son is proof of that. I am just an ordinary woman like you who has been given an extrodinary gift and that gift has touched the lives of so many....push away the negativity and feel proud of you, your husband and your daughter! You are all amazing! God bless you all! Melissa Morris
Tricia, You don't know me. I'm a "lurker" who lives up in Ontario, Canada, and who doesn't usually leave comments on blogs. However, I was moved today to write to you. I've checked in on you and your precious family every day since I was first pointed your way from another blog that I frequent. I peek in first thing in the morning, usually once during the day, and again before I go to bed. Seems like an odd thing for someone who doesn't even know you to do, but I'm sure I'm not alone, and it's very indicative of how very inspiring you are! (Yes, it helps that Nathan is a good writer, however, I'd be checking in even if he wrote in ALL CAPS or without any form of punctuation or sense of spelling!) Being able to watch a miracle unfold has been an experience that I cannot put into words. I've certainly given a lot of thought to what I find challenges me on a daily basis, and have made an attempt to let small things go. (I'm wondering how much sense that makes...) I'm also going to admit to being a bit envious of you. Your beauty just shines through every picture I've seen of you. Your husband loves you with a depth and breadth I've not often seen. You love him the same way... I'm afraid that I've never had that, and never will... Your strength, oh your strength. You seem to have a natural happiness about you. Your love of The Lord. In my case, the envy is not all a bad thing. In fact, you've inspired me to change some things that I know I can change. Gosh, it's no wonder I don't normally comment on blogs - I'm writing a book here! There are so many people praying for you and your family. I'm definitely one of them! I pray that you get those new lungs, and can once again enjoy your whole list of things that you are missing while in the hospital. I pray that you get to experience the joys of motherhood, the joys of having a daughter, the joys of being a family of three (plus two!). I pray that you get to make lots of new happy memories, and can add to your list of experiences to look forward to. I'm going to slip back into my normal lurking ways now. Just know that if I never say anything else, that I am praying for you every day.
Tricia you are an amazing woman. Your strength is an inspiration. I can't wait to read about you getting to experience all those things that you miss. I am another stranger that is just so mesmerized by your journey. I pray for you, Gwyneth, and Nate. Your faith is inspiring. I am so glad that you had the strength to write in your blog. It is really nice to read something from you. I pray for you to be listed soon and for the donor that will give you a new life.
Tricia, It is so wonderful to see God at work in your family. What a testimony you have. My family and friends, and I have been keeping up to date on your progress through Nate's blog, but it is so wonderful to hear from you. I've told Nate that my son has cf and we are in the hosptital too. Our story is so uncomplicated when put beside yours. Everything happens according to God's plan. Gwyneth is a blessed gift from God and I know you are so proud of her. You are such an inspiration to us all! Keep living according to God's plan and He will hold your hand all the way and continue to shower you with His blessings. I pray that you get to do all those things I know you miss very soon.
Dear Tricia, HELLOOOO!!!! Its Emmie here from the UK. I have CF and run a charity campaigning for organ donor awareness. It's so nice to see a blog post by YOU!!! :o)
Gwyneth is THE most adorable little girl ever and she is also one very lucky little lady to have a Mummy and Daddy who love her to bits. Your story has really helped me in so many ways and I love the photos and videos that Nate puts up - its so nice of you to let us keep up to date with how you both are.
Your little pug is gorgeous too! I have an adorable little West Highland Terrier called Daisy who is so cute, I reckon she'd love Meke!
I wanted to knit Gwyneth a teeny tiny little hat but because I have CF I realised it probably wasn't a good idea (just incase there is a 1 in a billion chance of passing anything on), which is sad but I wanted to say that I had planned to. I love her bobble hat - how cute is that?!!
My friend was on a tracheotomy ventilator for several weeks after her double lung transplant and I remember her telling me how the first time she was allowed to drink was the most amazing moment ever. I hope you get that chance to drink really soon.
Anyway, sorry for waffling on! Blowing a big fat hug your way from over the ocean.
Tricia~ So glad to hear your "voice!" I came into your story after you had Gwyneth. Your strength amazes me! I pray for you, Gwyneth and Nate daily. I pray that you will soon get new lungs and be able to start enjoying the things so many of us take for granted every minute! (Like a nice cold glass of water!) Just one complaint... it isn't fair that you look better in the hospital than I do on my best day! :) You are remarkable! Keep getting better and I will continue to pray! With much love!
I was so GREAT to read your recent post! I love your "motto"! So many of the things you miss are things most of us take for granted so often. Thanks for the reminder to thank God for even the "little things" in life, and to take time to "smell the roses"! You're such an inspiration to all who know you (and even to many who don't!!)
Sending a big HUG and Sparky CHEER your way! We are continuing to pray for you, Gwyneth, and Nathan. Continue to "Wait upon the Lord, and HE will renew your strength." Isaiah 40:31
And, keep flashing that BEAUTIFUL SMILE- It shines for the LORD!
I've never met you...but I wanted to let you know that I've been praying for your family! I live in Anchorage, Alaska which is a four hour time difference from the east coast. I pray a lot for you in the evenings here because I know that is when you are probably trying to fall asleep. I will continue to pray specifically that you rest well in the hospital (because sometimes that can be very hard), and that you continue to fight off those icky hospital bugs.
Tricia, you are an amazing woman and I am awed by your strength and determination. I had a child in the NICU at Duke and he is a happy, healthy 2 year old today. I know what it is like to have a baby against all odds, and I hope you smile every time you think of what a wonderful time all three of you will have when you are home at Nags Head together. You have already shown yourself to be a fabulous mother - keep up the good work!
I second that blogger's comment about how GREAT you look, Tricia! God's love shines through so clearly in you. On my very best day ever I am pretty sure I do not glow with LIFE the way you do. How can a woman have surgery, give birth, be asleep for nine days and wake up absolutely radiant? My heart overflows with love for you, Nate and Gwyneth. Also for your parents, Nate's parents and all your siblings and friends. For every deep breath and night I get to sleep curled into my husband, I will think of you and pray for your coming days and all you will have to enjoy and look forward to! You are most assuredly loved.
I feel like there is nothing left to say. It has all been said. You and Nate are truly amazing. Your faith and trust in God is awe-inspiring. I too check several times a day to see if there is new news or pictures. I like being reminded to NOT take the little everyday things for granted. Thank you for your courage to be Real with your story. Thank you for your witness to the miracles God has given you. Thank you for allowing us to come along side of you. I pray for you everyday!!!
Tricia, Thank you for the wonderful blog entry and beautiful pictures. While I may not know your family, I look forward to the postings from Nate, Rick, Andy, Megan and Janet (and now you too!). What an inspiration your family is to so many. I hope that some day soon you get to experience the items on your list as well as add on all the wonderful things that come along with motherhood. Your faith is amazing! I posted once prior, it was to one of Nate’s entries about Organ donation as I have an Aunt that had a double-lung transplant. She is not a CFer, she has Pulmonary Hypertension. Anyway, I hope you get listed and receive your lungs VERY soon. I will continue to pray for you and your family. Steph
Tricia so excited to see a post from you. So many are praying for you and your sweet baby! I cannot wait to read the post that you will write to tell us all what it is like to breath with new lungs. Megan ( with CF)
I miss: >You >Your laughing >Picking on you ever so slightly in the kinder Lawrenson way or at least thinking about it. >The occasional meal you fix, especially the ones that included desert or ice cream or cookies or brownies or cake. >You asking if anyone else wants the last piece or spoonful at dinner >Your most excellent cotton candy making skills >You on the youth and children's ministry teams >You stopping by the church for a visit during the day to bring Nate a Sonic Sundae but not one for me. :(
The list could go on and on. I'm saving the cotton candy job for you at Trunk or Treat Extravaganza 2008. Ty says he misses you too.
Tricia, you are so beautiful, and your family's story has captivated me. I continue to pray for you daily and rejoice each time I log onto Nate's blog and see photos of you and Gwyneth. Praise be to our glorious God for the amazing work He is doing in your life!
Tricia, You don't know me but I have been following your life story since the beginning of January. I just want you to know that your christian walk has made me evaluate my own for the good. You are a shining example of a steadfast christian who stands firm on God's rock when faced with such hardships and sickness. Your love for Gwyneth is amazing - risking your own life for hers - so powerful!!! I pray God will fully bless you, Nate and Gwyneth with full, happy lives for all that you have done for His kingdom! You and your little Rose remain in my prayers! With love, from Charlotte, NC
Tricia, I wanted you to know that you have been God's way of turning my focus back to Him. I had been lazy about spending time with him, and the story of your faith in Him and the faith of your family has sent me running back to the Arms of our Heavenly Father. I know that our paths will likely not cross while here on earth, but I look forward to the day when we can all sit in His Glory and thank Him for the miracle of your life and the life of your family. Thank you for being a witness for Him, even when times are hard. I pray that God continues to richly bless you.
Thank you (and Nate) for continuing to share a story that you don't have to share. You are both so open and honest. I spoke with Allison Wyant this week and she said that you and Nate have a gift for making people feel like they've known you forever...and I can imagine that is completely true. You, Nate, and Gwyneth continue to be in my prayers everyday. I think that God must loves mothers in a special way, because there is no greater miracle than bringing another precious life into the world. Your sister in Christ.
Tricia, I have been following your blog for a brief time, but I have come to really appreciate 3 things about Nate & you: trust in God, tenacity in holding on to Him and the transparency you both have shown. It's an encouragement to those of us who humans following our God.
Thank you. And, Gwyneth is just beautiful...I love seeing her change over time!
Tricia, I've been following your story since before the birth of Gwyneth. My friend Michelle is friends with your sisters in NJ. You are an amazing and beautiful woman! I'm so glad you've felt up to sharing things about yourself and your family. Thank you for allowing us as complete strangers to know you, Nate and Gwyneth so that we might pray for you and rejoice with you! I know God is pleased with how you continue to honor him with life and your choices. Gwyneth is beautiful! I always look at her pictures 3 and 4 times when they're posted. Praying for you today!
Trish, I absolutely love you and wish and pray for your health and safety!!! MUCH LOVE MY LOVERLY!!! and many blessings on being a mommy, wifey and loved one to so many! MUAH!!!
I have been following your blog and keep your family in my prayers. I loved your post about what you miss, and I really hope you can do those things soon. The pictures were great. It is nice to see things from your perspective as well! :) (((hugs)))
Oh! I like it Andy. Here's what we miss Tricia, since you've been away from us for a while now. Getting down there is awesome, but it's not the same as having you here:
-Your regular visits to your Yankee roots -Your willingness to watch my kid(s) so Al and I can go out to eat -The way you hug, love and play with Josh even when your worn out from trying to sleep on my sofa bed -Catching the sun in our backyard by our "pool" ;) while Josh plays -Getting you a cheese steak or having you call me on your ride up to get the number to a local place because you need on right away -Hearing your sweet voice -Hearing your contagious laughter
I have faith that those days will return and that this will be the best summer ever for you, me and our kids!!
Your sweet post about waiting to do things reminded me...
I was pretty darn sick during my fifth pregnancy. I was in the Dr's office at least twice a week for non-stress tests and ultrasounds with my two toddlers in tow. At home, I was struggling with my health and trying to keep a household with four young kids running. I remember sitting in my glider rocker (something that gives me comfort) and daydreaming about my baby. I pictured him at the age of 6-7 months sitting on the floor, chubby, with arms pumping excitedly up and down (if you've watched babies much, you can probably picture what I'm talking about in your mind), smiling. That vision got me through so much. It struck me when he actually reached that age what a blessing it had been to have been able to conjure up that image in my mind.
It's wonderful that you have such a list of things to keep you going. That FAITH will get you there! My best to you!
We all know that God works many miracles, but so many of us were led to you in the most unusual of circumstances. I am so grateful to have 'found' your family and to be able to follow the journey that you're on. Read each and every comment as I do and you'll be amazed at your 'following'. Please don't shy away from posting more. As much as we love Nate's postings, it's so great to 'get to know' you a little better through your words. Not one of us can imagine, no matter how similar the situation, all that you are going thru. I know that your apparent strength will see you thru this lengthy journey, but please know that so many (and many more non-commenters) are praying for you and princess Gwyneth! May God continue to grace you with his miracles...
Tricia, Through Nathan we have fell in love with you and Gwyneth. It is great to now read things from your point of view. You and Gwyneth are always in my thoughts and prayers.
Tricia, I loved reading your post and have been praying for you & your family a few times a day lately. I'm usually not into reading blogs, let alone leaving comments- but you and your story have touched my heart and blessed my life. Hang in there today and hopefully it brings some comfort to know there are tons of people that "get it" and are praying for you!
Hi Tricia, Nate and Gwyneth. I am new to your blog. A friend of mine sent me the link and said 'I think you should read this.' Your family has captured my heart! What amazing stories you have, from your beautiful love story to your courageous and inspiring life with CF to the miraculous birth of Gwyneth. Nate first of all you deserve a standing ovation. Having both of your girls in the hospital at the same time and still managing to cope, to keep the faith, and to uplift Tricia and Gwyneth is amazing. Tricia, I want you to know that I think-I KNOW-that God has amazing plans for you. 'For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.' You have been walking your life out, from what I've seen in pictures and in words, with grace and strength. Your every moment is in the Lord's hands. Keep on keeping on, you're doing great!! And Gwyneth... what a sweetheart! A tiny miracle! Again, I can only imagine the plans our God has for her. She will grow and get stronger and before you know it she will be in your arms :) I just wanted to encourage you all from a 'somewhat/but not really' place of being able to relate to you. Our son Gabe (3rd lil one) was born w/o an immune system. He spent 8 months in the hospital... bone marrow transplant... coma... currently on a trach and ventilator... There were days, weeks, months I never thought we'd get out of the hospital or that the light at the end of the tunnel would come, but it did. Keep the faith. You all are AMAZING!!
What I loved so much about your list is your ability to see the joy in the little things in your life . . . like drinking water. But even more impressive to me is that you're finding joy even in less than perfect circumstances.
I sincerely hope you get those new lungs soon so you can drink water, go to Hawaii and keep celebrating every moment as a wife and mother.
I recently stumbled across your blog by chance, and continue to be amazed by your family's strength, faith, and the daily miracles you write about.
I want to thank you for sharing your story. You & your family inspired me to go back to church and God this past weekend. I have been putting God second to the craziness of my life...I recently moved and was finding it difficult searching for a new church. And reading about your faith and relationship with God was all the motivation I needed. I prayed for your family at my new church on Sunday, and haven't stopped since. God Bless you and your girls!
Tricia, I've been reading your husbands blog, I got it off a friends blog list. I want to tell you that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! Gwyneth is absolutely beautiful! *Amber*
You don't know me, but like many others, I've been following your story! I am continually amazed & inspired by what God is doing in your lives and the shining examples you are of Him!!! When I came on here today and saw that you had written a post, I was so excited! I loved your list and seeing the pictures you put on your site. Thanks for sharing all that with us!
I figured out, I think it was last week, that I went to the same college as your sister, Megan. (I E-mailed her to figure out if that was indeed true and it is). I kept thinking I recognized your maiden name when I'd see it in posts and then I went to Megans blog one day and when I saw a pic of her it finally clicked. Anyway... small world.... .(I think I already posted that on another reply, but figured I'd put it in the reply to your post too)
Well, thanks for sharing your beautiful story with us. Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous and I loved the outfit & bow the nursed put her in! Like I already said, Christ shines so clearly in your family, and you are such examples of His life and love to so many out there!!!!
Continuing to pray for you in NY, Amy (fellow mom of preemies & blessed friend of a CF mom!)
It is so good to read your blog! I started reading about you guys when Gwyneth was a few days old and you were "asleep". The day you woke up I was SOOO excited I went and told my boys who looked at me like I was crazy since they had no idea what I was talking about! Your story has really helped me to enjoy the small things in life and not take them for granted. Thank you for letting us have a few of your rays of sunshine. You are a strength to all that read about you and your family. I am praying for you to get better and for Gwyneth and Nate. You guys are amazing!
Tricia, I just wanted to let you know that me and my kids pray for you daily. The name Tricia and Gwyneth are part of our daily prayers now. My kids (who 4,2 and 1) pray for Gwyneth to get better so her mommy can be with her. I have mentioned you guys on my blog and I know thousands have you in their prayers.
Welcome back to your blog;) Your post about what you missed the most with the pictures was very beautiful, and I can see why you miss those things-I pray for you so you can get back to those things you have missed.
Congratulations! on being a new mom-your baby is a beauty, and I pray for her too.
Ah Tricia, you make me choke up. Just think of all the new great times ahead, you have a daughter, and speaking from experience (I have three) there is nothing like it. Before you know it hospital time will be a thing of the past and you will be posing for pictures with your daughter for your photographer husband, and we will all be checking back here often!
I had a hard time getting pregnant. I wasn't sick or anything, but it just wasn't happening.
I tried for ten years (sadly, in more than one relationship). I was incredibly sad and incredibly disappointed.
I kept trying.
I finally met the most amazing man. He had a teenage daughter already and I figured that would be enough for me.
Wouldn't you know it? I got pregnant.
I was 31 years old, overweight, and on anti-depressants.
We had a few complications with her birth and immediately afterwards, but things wound up working out.
Why am I writing to you? I'm not sure.
I think often about that feeling right after she was born; that feeling that even if I got to see her for one minute, it would be enough. I looked at her father and we knew, right in that moment, that it was ok.
I thought to myself (and I spoke it aloud, which I did not know at the time), "God would not let me get this far only to take her away from me."
He didn't. He has let me keep her here with me so far. I am so grateful.
We never know when or how we will get called home to him, so we have to do each day what we believe is right. Nothing more; nothing less.
I won't go on and on about how wonderful I think you two are, about what an inspiration you are to me, and about how much I think of all three of you. I think you already know that.
I just wanted to let you know that somewhere in this big world, there is an overweight, getting old, Italian Catholic, former NYer with a horrible temper that believes everything you are both doing is everything that is right with this world.
You don't know me, but I've been reading your husband's blog since finding a post about it on another blog I read -- I can't wait until we're reading about you getting to do all those fun things again! And I can't wait to hear all about how you show Gwyneth how to enjoy life as much as you do:)
I have been reading this blog and following your story for a while- I am inspired by your strength and I am praying for you, your little baby girl, and your hubby. Thanks for keeping your courage up and sharing your incredibly story with us all. It's amazing to see God work in your lives and perform miracles in you and Gwyneth...as I know He will continue to do. You guys rock :)
I want you to know that you are loved. I share stories and picture of the three of you with my husband like I know you. He probably thinks I'm crazy but he just smiles. Nate you remind me of my husband. Sort of that "fearless leader of the family" type. Defender of good. Keep being a super hero!
Tricia! Thanks for sharing! You and your family continue to be in my prayers. My sister just went active on the transplant list....I am trying to stay calm.
I can't wait until you can be as tan as you want and do all of your favorite things again. I remember the first time we laid in the sun in my yard in HH with lemon juice on our hair trying to be blondes!
You are an amazing, strong, beautiful woman and I am so lucky to have a friend like you. I love you.
Don't let the devil get you down, girl...keep moving on! YOU are one of the most amazing mothers I've ever come across. You have sacrificed so selflessly for Gwyneth...I have to say that if I would have been in the same situation, I don't know if I would have been brave enough to do the same. Praise God for mothers like you.
Continue to pray for you and your beautiful family. Love the updates and that Gweneth is getting almost as big as her pug! So glad you all are hanging in there. Praying God's miracle for the transplant as well. Brenda
I got thirsty just reading about you not being able to drink....I hope you get to take a cold drink of water very very soon! And all of those other things too :). I'm sure there are a lot of other things, just like taking a drink, that all of us healthy people reading your blog take for granted every day. You're in my thoughts and prayers :)
Tricia and Nate, you are in my prayers daily. I am so excited that you are all doing well, and I enjoy seeing pictures of little Gwyneth. What a beauty!
You both have such tremendous faith, and you are wonderful examples for so many people. (And I definitely include myself when I say that!) May God continue to keep you strong, through your joys and through times of adversity.
During my own pregnancy right now, I hated having to drink so much water... but now I will toast to you, dear Tricia. Every time I drink a glass of water, I will pray for you. And hope that you get a sip real soon! Love you
Have you thought yet, that from all eternity , God has planned that wee Gwyneth Rose would be placed into your family and none other;to be nurtured and brought up under His Word and plan ?? And to think, Daddy and I had a role in this plan too. It is almost too much to take in. We are so excited to watch His plans unfold. Me, I do not I miss too much because, throuhg all of these days, you still tell us you love us each time we come or go from you room, and still give those sweet hugs. Love you soooo much and I will see you tomorrow night.Mom
It was GREAT to read your blog, Tricia!!! Enjoyed the pictures, too! It's been great coming to Nathan's blog and "getting a report", like part of the family. :) I pray for you guys daily and look forward to reading more and more great things about you and your family! ~ becky b
My name is Sally and I've been following your story ever since a friend sent your blog to me - I find myself rejoicing with you, crying with you, and praying for you constantly. May God continue to cover you, your husband, and your darling little girl with angels and extra strength exactly when you need them.
It's so nice to "hear" from you Tricia! Hang in there and don't let anyone get you down!!! You have a wonderful loving husband who adores you and a beautiful baby! Your story is inspiring even thoug it is hard to live I am sur! Just remember your new lungs are coming soon! There will be light at the end of the tunnel! I hope your hospital stay is as short as possible and you get to comfortably do all the things most people take for granted.
Hi Tricia! You don't know me, but I have been following your story, and I continue to pray for your family!
Your list reminded me of a lot of the things I miss in life, I'm in the middle of an illness too right now, and I have a J-tube (feeding tube), and I cannot drink or eat....It's horrible, right?!
Don't worry though, God's on your side, and one day you are going to get to accomplish all of those items on your list + more...with little Gwyneth and Nathan at your side :)
Tricia- I can't figure out how to comment on your page, but I wanted you to know how happy I was to read YOUR words. Nate's been awesome about keeping us updated, but it's very cool to hear from you. :-) Keep it up! Still praying for you and you guys are in our thoughts all the time.
Tricia ... you are truly an amazing woman! Having been through cancer with a newborn, I have an inkling of how hard it is to be where you are ... and all I can do is lift you up in prayer each day, each hour, and each minute - for strength, for continued improvement towards a transplant, and for many years of life with your sweet little Gwyneth. She is so adorable!
Tricia, you are so special. I hope you always know that without a doubt. I am admiring you in so many ways. That precious baby is your gift from God! What an awesome mother you are to go the extra length to get her here safely. I am in awe of you and your strength. I think you must be a pretty neat gal to have such a fun loving and devoted husband too. Isn't God good? Never doubt that! Many prayers coming your way!
Tricia, Thank you for taking time and energy to post on your blog. It brightens my day just to imagine you typing away on your laptop. Your beauty and energy just ooze from your words. Gwyneth is such a lucky girl to have such a fun-loving, genuine mommy who, by example, will teach her the gift of every detail of life. I had never thought before about how much I love and am thankful every glass of water I drink throughout the day. You are so loved...obviously by your family and friends and now by a multitude of strangers, like me. Still praying for you. Much love, Nicole Coyle
Tricia, I hope this finds you feeling better. I love to read your blog and also to read Nate's comments. I pray that you will receive a new set of lungs really soon so you can go home to your husband and that very precious litle one, Gwyneth Rose. Have you gotten to hold her yet? She is so very tiny, and so very precious. Keep on trusting, God will be there for you!
I am not one to comment or post anything on blogs, but you inspired me to. Your story/life journey has touched me in so many ways and I praise God for your honest and courageous spirits - all three of you! What a lesson in both life and faith you are teaching those who read your blogs. I know you do not set out to teach in such ways but that is how the Lord uses our stories to touch others. I pray for you everyday, I root for your every milestone, and cheer and hope for your love that surpasses all. Tricia, you are beautiful!! Nate, you are a blessed man to have these amazing women in your life and a gifted writer to express it so. I pray Tricia, you will share those very things that make you strong, loving and beautiful with your daughter, Gwyneth. Can't wait to read more of your posts Tricia!
I don't know you personally, but I sure feel like I do! I have been following your story DAILY and praying for you ever since January 3rd. My sister-in-law is Laura Edwards. My older brother is Greg Edwards. Over a month ago, Laura sent out a "prayer request" email to many people on January 3rd. I was one of the FORTUNATE ones on her email distribution list. I say I was one of the FORTUNATE ones, because I can honestly say that it has been my PLEASURE to pray for you and Nathan and baby Gwyneth ever since learning of your story. YOU have inspired me in SO MANY ways, Tricia! Your perserverence, your strength, and your UNshaken FAITH in our Lord are all such admirable qualities! I think of you several times a day! YOUR story has encouraged me and given me the opportunity to re-examine my own life! What a living testimony you are to JESUS CHRIST! Tricia, YOU GO GIRL! I look forward to reading so MANY more POSITIVE posts in the future!
My 6-year-old daughter was innocently singing a song last night.
"This Little Light Of Mine.....I'm gonna let it shine..."
Tricia, I can't help but think of YOU when I hear that song. You are so STRONG!
Thank You. Thank you for reminding us that life is oh so special and to not take the little things for granted. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Since finding your story just a few days before the birth of your beautiful daughter, I have gone back and read every word and been amazed, humbled and inspired by your family's amazing journey. Not to mention, I have an enourmous respect for what you have gone through, the decisions you have made, and most importantly your incredible faith you have not waivered from. One of our very best friends in the world is living his life to the fullest with CF....and he and his wife have a beautiful miracle baby boy that we all prayed for. God is telling a beautiful story through you and your family...and He is not finished with you yet! In fact, it is my firm belief that He is going to show off in a mighty way through all of you. It will be our privilege to read about the miracles that are coming your way in the coming days! Please know people everywhere are falling in love with and praying for your precious family.
I frequent this blog daily. However, I have never left a comment before because I could never find the right words. I still don't know what to say, other then..... I continue to pray for your family every day.
Tricia- You are a wonderful loving mother. We have never met but I have been reading Nates site. You are an inspiration. You are amazing. Gywneth is so lucky to have you as her mommy. I am sure you will both enjoy a lifetime of tea parties, dress-up and giggles. Your family continues to be in my prayers.
Tricia, it is SO Wonderful when you post ... either here or on your own blog. Nate is doing a fantastic job as hubby and daddy and your are a beautiful mommy and wife after God's own heart. I look forward to reading more form both of you.
You guys have no idea who I am, but I stumbled across your blog back a couple of months ago. I love reading about your daily miracles that are taking place. Tricia, it was great to see your update yesterday. I'm praying for continued recovery, and that you'll get to see your precious baby girl again soon. Praying for strength, rest, and peace.
I would like to thank you for sharing your story. The history of your relationship, your hardships and the birth of your daughter are all interesting to hear. I am one of many who come and "check" on you each day; many times. I am friends with someone who is close to your sister. I am happy that she shared the opportunity to pray for you and get to "know" you. You inspire me on a day basis. I have "shared" you with my friends so that they can see how wonderful you are too. My faith was a matter of convenience before you. I now talk with God each day and feel that you have bridged a gap with us. Thank you for that gift. Please know that while there may be short-sighted people out there that there are many more of us who you continue to inspire. Please continue to get well and thrive off the love and prayers of your friends, family and those of us who would love to meet you. I look forward to the possibility of meeting you some day when you visit NJ. While the journey that you have chosen is not easy, I know that you made the best decision. Trust in that and ignore the rest.
I mainly read your husband's blog and I can no longer even remember how I found it. I guess I am "in it for the long haul" with your family via the internet. I pray for you daily and think you are very brave. You amaze me! I pray that your new lungs arrive soon and that you can start checking things off your "to do list". By the way-Gwyneth is absolutely precious!
Hi Tricia, it's so lovely to hear from you :o) you have one of those smiles that is catching - your smile makes me smile :o)
Your story has been a blessing to me. I went to church on Sunday for the first time in almost 20 years! My 5 month old daughter, my mum and I all prayed for you, Nate and Gwyneth together with our Vicar who is also a very close friend.
You and Nate are perfect for each other and Gwyneth has fantastic parents!
I hope you get to do all those things on your list as soon as possible and I can't wait to see the pics as you tick them off :o)
Big HUG from another total stranger who has fallen in love with your story - XXX
Tricia, I just think you are one of the most courageous women I've "never met". I think your faith is amazing. Your strength to get thru each day is inspiring. And I admire you for all that you did to get your little girl to where she is today. Just ignore the negative thinkers -- there are many more of us a positive persons out there to keep your spirits high! :) Keep up the fabulous work!!
Tricia, I am praying for you to experience every one of the things on your list soon, as well as thousands of other things that you don't even know you're missing yet as a mother. My heart and prayers are with you and your family. It's been so great to "hear" from you lately and know that you are strengthening. Hugs and love from WI.
It was so great to see your update on your blog. You are doing so good and You and Gwyneth are prayed for in my house every day. You are such a blessing to witness your courage and determination during this difficult time. Your baby is absolutely amazing and determined like her mommy:) Praying you through this time and praying for new lungs to be yours soon sweetie. I am sorry for all the things you miss right now, but I know before long, you will be experiencing them again with new excitement. Patience must be a hard thing right now, but I pray that you have them:) My faith has grown so much in following your story since last year, and I know we serve an awesome God who loves you to pieces. Take care and know you are loved by people all over the world. So good to see your smile.:)

I am one of your blog junkies who checks in every day and prays for the three of you every day! I am also a pug lover, having a perpetually spoiled 2-year old pug named Fantango who reads your blog along with me. She recommended that I send along this link that someone sent us today in hopes that it will cheer you up! It's a Monitor cleaner.
Hi! I'm another stranger who's been checking in on you and has posted a couple times before. It was fun to read about you in your own words! Hope you get to do all of those things you miss ASAP. Let no one get you down--you are clearly an awesome woman and an awesome mom who fights hard for herself and her family!
Hi Trish and Nate and Gwyneth, I say a prayer for you daily and thank our Lord for your story. You are an inspiring family! I pray that you are placed on the list soon and receive the lungs that will help you and your amazing family return home.
I am so grateful to your family for sharing your amazing story. Watching Gwyneth grow this past month has been miraculeous - she is so precious and beautiful!
Please know that there are MANY people in this world praying and "rooting" for you. I shared your blog with my 16 year old son tonight. He said, "Aw Gwyneth is so pretty! She's amazing!!"
HI TRICIA. WE COME HOME FROM WORK AND SCHOOL EVERYDAY AND CHECK IN TO SEE HOW YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE.WE ARE HAPPY WHEN YOU ALL ARE HAPPY, AND SAD WHEN YOU ALL ARE SAD.OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU EVERY DAY.
Hi Tricia, Praying for the day that you can do all the things you miss so bad! My longest stint in the hospital was just 2 weeks, and I was so eager to leave that I didn't even wait for my parents to bring me my shoes! Praying that you get word about your lungs soon and that in the quickest time you and your precious family can be home!! Love, Kristi
Hi Tricia, Greetings from Surrey, B.C. Canada! I've been following your story since the beginning of January, and although I haven't been one for leaving comments, I felt compelled to do so today. I shared your story with my daughter last night. She's 12, beautiful (of course I'm a little biased!), and healthy. I also have a 15 year old son...I'm a very lucky mom!! My daughter, Stephie, couldn't get to sleep last night so we sat and cuddled at my computer for a little while and I showed her some of the pictures Nate had posted of Gwyneth and told her your story. We talked about how lucky we were to be healthy and how beautiful Gwyneth is! Stephie's taking Confirmation classes at our church, so she's going to suggest to our pastor that her group pray for you and Gwyneth and your family. We'll continue to pray at home, but now you've got a bunch of Canadian kids helping out as well! You are truly and inspiration!! Heather Leech
Tricia, It was so neat to read a post just from you! I hope and pray that God continues to give you strength and that He will continue to use you and your family to bless those who are following your story!
Tricia, It is so great to see your post...I am praying that you will soon be back to doing all those things that you miss so much. I can't imagine...You are an inspiration to me. Praising God for you and all that you have done to give Gwenyth life and praying that you and she will be well enough that you can hold her in your arms. BTW, I love the pictures of her all wrapped up with a bow...priceless. What a blessing!
I began following this blog a few weeks ago when Nathan posted a prayer request on Faith Community Network, a forums where I'm a moderator. I have since checked in every day and pray for you both and your precious little Gwyneth several times a day. What a blessed little girl she is to have parents who value life and God's sovereignty as you two do. I pray daily for miracles of healing and blessing to all of you
A cold drink of water while lying on a warm sandy beach with your husband next to you and your daughter burying your feet in the sand! This is a mental picture I want for you! As a mom who misses the beach(I'm now landlocked, but grew up a Cali-girl) and the serenity it brings to the soul as you contemplate how good God is I pray for the day that you can fulfill my selfish wish!(Though in my case cold water would be ice cold Dr. Pepper)! Praying for you in Landlocked Kansas City! I am so jealous that you live on the OBX which is where I want to go so badly!
Tricia, Another "stranger" here, just wanted to say that it's great to hear from you! I visit your husband's blog to check on you & Gwyneth. I also wanted to remind you of what a PRETTY lady you are, just in case you haven't walked by a mirror lately. I noticed in all of your pictures what a good looking person you are, in addition to your awesome spirit. I wish you continued recovery. Florida
Tricia, You're doing GREAT. I can't wait to hear that the lung surgery is over and you're on your way to going home!! Janet and Megan keep us posted, and we're all praying for you here. Even Ben gave me a little update at school last Friday. Your daughter is gorgeous. You must be so thankful for her. Thanks for your excellent testimony. Too bad people are unkind. Love, Joanna
I'm glad you were feeling well enough to update your blog. I can't remember how I happened on Nathan's blog, but I've been praying for you and Gwyneth since the day she was born and will continue to lift you all up daily in prayer.
Tricia, How beautiful to see how God is working in and using your life. Yours and Nate's ultimate trust in Him and His plan for you has been soooo encouraging to me right now. God bless your beautiful family!
So nice to see a post form you Trica. I have been checking in for updates on your family for a few weeks. I normally don't comment, but I really just wanted you to know I am praying for you and your sweet baby girl! We serve an awesome and mighty God. You are such a great reflection of his love!
Tricia I'm sure you've already heard this time and again but I have to say it again - you are such a wonderful mama to Gwyneth. Actually I think you are the definition of the kind of mother God intends for us all to be. Many new mother's are told "oh you're going to be such a great mom" but Tricia you were the moment Gwyneth was created. You chose life for your sweet baby even if it meant sacrificing your own. Sure most moms, myself included, would say we would give up our lives for our children. But how many of us ever have to really make that choice? You are such a courageous, strong, and selfless woman. Gwyneth is so blessed to have you as a mommy and God knew just what He was doing by placing her in your hands. I'm praying for there to be more mommy's just like you. God Bless You! Still praying and praying! Love, Leslie
Tricia, How great to hear from you...I am glad that you are feeling up to posting. You don't know me, but I have been following your blog, and I thought it may be encouraging to you to share my "pregnancy story." My husband and I had no trouble getting pregnant, and until I was 24 weeks, everything was going along smoothly. I was scheduled to have an ultrasound at my 24 week appt. because at the 20 week ultrasound my daughter was laying at a funny angle and refused to move, so they couldn't get all the measurements they wanted. When we had the second ultrasound my daughters head had not grown at all and my amniotic fluid levels were very low. We had an amnio, because even though it would not have changed anything, we wanted to be prepared. When it came beck with nothing abnormal, the Dr.'s were completely amazed, and still continued to warn us that our daughter may not be born "normal". During the time that we were waiting for the amnio results, I felt like I could actually physically feel people praying for us, and I KNOW, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God healed my little girl. She was born 4 weeks early, but completely "normal", and is now a goofy 18 month old who likes to run around the house completely naked in the dead of winter. I know that our story pales in comparison to what you are going through, but I hope that it offers you a bit of encouragement, and hope to see how God worked a miracle for us. We are praying for you and Nate and Gwenyth and hoping that you soon be able to do all of the things that you miss...only this time, they will be even more special because you will have your beautiful baby there with you!!! Prayers from Ohio, Ashlie
PS The picture of Gwenyth with the bow in her hair is freaking cute!!!
I've been reading your hubby's blog for a couple of weeks now, and I am blessed beyond measure to see the strength and grace our faithful Father has given both of you. We will continue to keep you upheld in prayer.
Your little girl... my goodness, she is precious. I worked as a NICU nurse for a couple of years, and looking at Gwyneth's pictures makes me want to go back and work there some more. She is absolutely beautiful, and I am so thankful that she seems to be doing so well.
God is using all three of you as a very powerful testimony and witness. He is doing great things in you, and you are doing great things for Him! Keep battlin' on, and He will give you the victory. The strong, sweet spirit that you and your husband are manifesting in the midst of such trial is astounding, amazing, and awe-inspiring. And I know it's all because of His grace.
Your story brings tears of joy and also tears of humility! If being least in this world means being first in "the kingdom", I would say you and your family will be pretty close to the place of honor! May God continue to bless you and keep you and to smile on you! I'm adding my prayers to the hundreds of others which come before the throne of our Living God on your behalf! Much love from an "Unknown Friend in Minnesota"!
Dear Nate, Tricia, and sweet Gwyneth, I feel blessed to share in your story, to pray for you, to "root" for you. It is an interesting phenomenon to have a community come together over the internet that are such prayer warriors for families.
I don't post often but I check in every day and pray daily.
We may not meet this side of Heaven, but I'll look forward to meeting you then!
Hi Tricia, I miss your sweet smiling face at our church home! Thanks for your blog; it's really nice to see your progess. Matt and I pray for you, Gwyneth and Nate daily. From the day that I heard you were pregnant with beautiful Gwyneth I was excited, scared for you and Nate and unsure of the future. Your story is a miracle for all to read and learn from. My own child has taught me that I would sacrifice anything (including my own life) for him to live. The love that I have for my Blake is overwhelming at times but I understand why you took the risk even when the odds were against you. You are a Hero to all women who are afraid to risk something to gain something far better than we could ever understand. I will remind you like my sister does if I am stuck in a valley - Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. "
Everything will unfold as He plans at His perfect timing. I pray for you to get well and get on the transplant list so that beautiful Gwyneth will have a healthy Mama.

Tricia, I, like so many here, do not know you, but I am beginning to feel like I do. :) You are such a beautiful person on the inside and out... with a beautiful baby girl and your very own prince charming! Thank you for allowing us all in on your miracle-in-progress. I don't take it lightly that you and Nate are being so vulnerable, and I know that God has done and will continue to do great things because of your story that you are opening up to the world. Your life has forever touched mine. Thank you! I will continue to pray for you every day!!!

Tricia, Nice to see your post. You do not know me, but I do know Nate and his family. We have been praying for you guys, and thinking about you and the road you are traveling. We have kept Gwyneth,(she is so cute), and Nate in our prayers also.
We continue to offer our prayers for continued health and improvement for you all.
Hi! I think you have people from all over the country on this blog, reading your story and seeing God work every single day in the life of your family. Thank you for sharing with us.
We have 2 things in common! I love to sing and I love the sun. How simple and yet so refreshing and healing.
You have a good husband and your daughter is just darling. I love her name!
Nate, love your photography. I'm a semi-professional child and family photographer and you are definitely getting some cool shots in. Love the detail in Gwyneth's little feet. :)
Tricia, It is so nice to see you post for a change! Ha! Kidding of course! I have to check multiple times a day to check on you and Gwyneth! :) I am not in your shoes- and nowhere near- but I can certainly imagine missing those things. Now, just imagine the glorious day when you and Nate get to experience them with Gwyneth! Oh what a day that will be!
Tricia, you amaze me. Your strength and courage to live the life God has called you to blows me away. You are beautiful and your bravery and faith in our God inspires me. Gwyneth is so blessed to have you as her mommy. My husband and I pray for your family every night and trust that you are finding God to be faithful to all of His promises. May He be the God of Hope to you every day. Thanks for sharing your story with us. We are all blessed to "know" you through the blog world.
((((((Tricia))))) Its great to "hear" from you. I pray for you all everyday and am looking forward to the days ahead when we are able to "hear" about you getting the chances to do all of your favorite things once again
You rock :-) I don't even know you, but your story has inspired me so much. Your steadfastness in your relationship with God in spite of everything that you've gone through amazes me. Your outlook on life is just awesome. I'm being 100% sincere when I say that your daughter is unbelievably blessed to have a mother like you. Your strength, courage, and determination set a great example for Gwyneth on how a woman of God should be.
I'm sure that you've had your "off" days in your walk with the Lord (haven't we all), but it's obvious from the older posts that I've read on your blog, and what your husband says about you, that for the vast majority of the time you've been uber-close with the Lord. You've made God a consistent part of your life, when I imagine that your life in general was anything BUT consistent.
To see what God has brought you through is so beautiful. It's so obvious that His hand is on your life (and your daughter's).
I don't know you outside of the blogosphere, but I watch your story unfold...I see pictures of you and your daughter...and I see God's glory being revealed before my very eyes :-)
Tricia, I was born June of 1982, and reading your page I feel like I wrote it all myself. I am married to a wonderful man who is my best friend, I love my dog and my family. I could not imagine having the strength that you have within you. I will keep you and your family in my prayers always. You are doing great, you are a beautiful girl. Your friend from TN Heather
~~~ Tricia ~~~ You are a strong hero. I think of you daily.
Last Mother's Day I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke caused by a blood clotting disorder and I had a DVT, and Pulmonary Embolisms. I was a very very sick person. I have been healed and had the prayers of many many people. My doctors have said that I am a walking miracle.
I have been able to return to teaching first grade! I went back to school right after the Christmas break. God is so good.
I was in the hospital only about 27 days, but I remember well when I was first able to wash my hair and take a shower, even if it was in a shower chair......... and I remember the joy I felt when I was finally able to go out into the patio/yard at the rehab place, wheeling myself. The sun felt great, and all of the experiences that I'd taken for granted were like new for me.
I am now walking without a walker, driving, and teaching an active class of first graders... I still need prayer that I continue to have energy and stamina.
I am so happy that your sweet little daughter was able to be dressed up so cutely for her one month birthday! What a wonderful thing to celebrate! She is totally adorable and I'm sure is the cutest baby in the nursery. What a precious little child.
Tricia, I've recently begun following your story. Thank you for sharing your remarkable journey. Your faith in the face of so much struggle is inspiring.
Keep on fightin'! A little section of Austin, TX is praying for you and your family.
Tricia -- your courage, attitude and faith have truly been an inspiration. it's been a pleasure to pray for you and your family throughout this journey! May the JOY of the Lord continue to be your strength. He seems to have great things in store for you and your little Gwyneth -- and he is indeed being thoroughly glorified in your "weakness"...
Tricia, I just wanted to tell you why I'm so interested in you as a person. It's because you have this unique ability to invite people to look at you and not feel awkward. You're inviting, and you have this way with your body language that says, "sure, this is me, I'm comfortable, you should be too."
I love your silly looks when you're being video taped by Nate. I've even started doing that when I video myself for my husband when he's away, and it's fun, so thank you and I hope you don't mind me copying you. It's a compliment for sure.
I'm super scared of people, and you just make the world seem okay. Thanks.
(((Tricia))) I wish you could drink water & do all the things you miss, too. My continued prayers for you to get listed & then quickly receive your new lungs so that you can go home with your beautiful daughter & husband and enjoy life with them, doing the things you love to do.
ReplyDeleteI praise God for continuing to provide you with daily strength and hope.
Tricia, you are just the cutest little dickens. I'm an old lady so I can get by with calling you a "dickens". If you're too young to have heard of the term, it's a compliment...although I can't tell you where it came from. It's just a good thing, that's all. You're a natural beauty with no need for makeup. In fact, makeup would detract. Keep up the good fight, sweetheart. You've got a lot of people rooting on the three of you....whatever "rooting" means. Can't answer that one either I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteYou and yours yours are continually in my prayers... God bless you and keep you.
ReplyDelete~Cherlyn V
Tricia...I will work my hardest at remembering you each time I do one of these. Singing especially...it's my passion. I love it. I'm so excited to finally see a post from you. Thank you for teaching me not to take life, or any of it's beautiful blessings for granted.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait til the day you're able to post that you've once again done all these things. :) Til then, I'm praying for it.
Love to you!
My name is Edward Cuthbert and I am grateful for your continuous committment in seeking Christ through this time. You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers and I hope and pray that you receive your lungs. I hope you are encouraged through this time through how much people love you and care about you! I did not know you before this moment, however, I am glad to know you now! God loves you all and He is your strength!
ReplyDeleteHi Tricia, I'd happily give you my singing voice, but then I remembered that my singing voice would probably scare you. All the dogs in the neighbourhood howl when I sing, and the birds flee from the garden...
ReplyDeleteI hope this week will be a good and promising one for you. (I'm also 'rooting' for you, like an above commenter said, and I have no idea what it means either, but I'll say it anyway... )
Best wishes. :0)
Hiya Tricia,
ReplyDeleteSending you a massive (((HUG))) I'm also 'rooting' for you Nate and Gwyneth, I think it means we're all standing alongside you in your journey and wishing you all the very best each day or something like that.
Praying for you all.
Much love.
x
Tricia -
ReplyDeleteSo awesome to hear from you... you inspire me to keep fighting the good fight against this ol CF kid...
Prayers!
Talana
Tricia, thanks for sharing a glimpse into your thoughts and feelings. You don't know me but I know you father-in-law best in the family. My prayer will be for you to see and do all those things and more! Lord bless you!
ReplyDeleteTricia, what wonderful pictures, all I am sure hold very sweet memories for you. Praying for God's healing and perfect timing for you, Gwyenth and Nate. That you may also look forward to making many memories as a family; exploring, enjoying and singing praises to God for all of His miraculous wonders through your lives.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Your little sweet rose is so precious. God's gifts are amazing! Here is a warm hug from a mom of 6, from cold Alaska
Good morning Tricia. Nice to see your blog entry. The list you wrote is a reminder to the rest of us of a lot of the little things in life we take for granted.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your smiling face out there again! (oh yeah, and Nate too!:))
Keeping you in my prayers, and looking forward to watching more of God's handiwork in this situation. He has done GREAT things through the lives of you, Nate, and Gwyneth!!
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteMy prayer is for the desires of your heart to come to you. The awesome part is that when prayer is answered you have no idea how much better those things will be by looking at them through your daughters eyes.
Blessings,
Melissa
You are BEAUTIFUL- inside and out!---it has been an awesome privilege to get to know you and ALL your family-- through you all- there is no doubt what an awesome God we all have who loves us!
ReplyDeleteThanks- for sharing....praying for your wishes and dreams to come true.........soon~
Hey Sweetie!
ReplyDeleteIt's always encouraging to see you post! We all are praying fervently for both of you guys up here - and for strength and peace for Nathan. We love you...
Sheryl, NJ
What an encouragement to see you post. Oh how small my problems seem this morning compared to what you and your family are enduring.
ReplyDeletePsalm 37 comes to mind
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
Praying that you get to do all those things again that you mentioned in your post and that the Lord grants you the desires of your heart as you depend on HIM.
Praying that your precious daughter continues to blossom and grow stronger, She has the strengh and tenacity of her mother for sure.
Praying that the Lord holds up your precious husband and family as they support you and Gwyneth though these trying times.
Praying for your lung transplant and the donor family. Trusting that the Lord will bring all this to pass in his perfect timing.
In Christ.
Myra
Hey Tricia,
ReplyDeleteKeep hanging in there and one day in the future you'll be able to do all these fun things again, this time it will be more fun since you'll have Gwyneth to do them with you. Hope you have a great and blessed day.
:) Jessica
Praying for you to see these good things very shortly - restored!
ReplyDeletePrayers for you. It felt good to know that you had the energy to update your blog. Your a blessing. I spent time in the hospital too and it does get old. Things do seem to look a little closer than they did. Your doing great. Look to your Daddy God.
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs,
Christy
What a great way to start a Monday morning. I went to Tricia's blog and the picture of the guy in the blue shirt with the dog made me laugh out loud. Oh the things we take for granted--loved your list.
ReplyDeleteNathan and Tricia
ReplyDeleteI heard this song late last week and thought of the two of you. It's by George Strait - I wanted to share the lyrics with the two of you.
I have been following your blog since the birth of your daughter - what a miracle.....
I Saw God Today
Here are the lyrics for "I Saw God Today"
Just walked down the street to the coffee shop
Had to take a break
I'd been by her side for 18 hours straight
Saw a flower growin' in the middle of the sidewalk
Pushin' up through the concrete
Like it was planted right there for me to see
The flashin' lights
The honkin' horns
All seemed to fade away
In the shadow of that hospital at 5:08
I saw God today
I've been to church
I've read the book
I know he's here
But I don't look
Near as often as I should
Yeah, I know I should
His fingerprints are everywhere
I just slowed down to stop and stare
Opened my eyes and man I swear
I saw God today
Saw a couple walkin' by they were holdin' hands
Man she had that glow
Yeah I couldn't help but notice she was startin' to show it
Stood there for a minute takin' the sky
Lost in that sunset
Splash of amber melted in the shades of red
I've been to church
I've read the book
I know he's here
But I don't look
Near as often as I should
Yeah, I know I should
His fingerprints are everywhere
I just slowed down to stop and stare
Opened my eyes and man I swear
I saw God today
Got my face pressed up against the nursery glass
She's sleepin' like a rock
My name on her wrist
Wearin' tiny pink socks
She's got my nose, she's got her mama's eyes
My brand new baby girl
She's a miracle
I saw God today
Your list, Tricia, reminds me of all that we take for granted! It never crossed my mind that you couldn't eat & drink- even a glass of water.
ReplyDeleteI pray that you get your new lungs soon and will be able to do all of those things, along with your new baby daughter!
Debbi/Aspiemom
It is wonderful to see an update on your website! Following this journey with you, Nate & Gwyneth has caused me to pause and cherish so many things in life that I used to take for granted.
ReplyDeletePraying for you to receive those new lungs soon and be well enough to spend some time in Hawaii alone with Nate and Gwyneth before the end of the year! :)
We are praying that you get to do all of those things again soon!!!
ReplyDeleteWe love you, admire your spirit, and can't wait to see you making even better memories with your husband and daughter!!!
~ Dana and Wil Haupfear
Hey Tricia,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let you know I was praying for you and I read your blog all the time. I met you once in the OBX while my bible study was having a retreat there. You came to visit the Byrds. I remember you. (-:
I also attend FBC and I attend MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and one of the women at my table said she remembers you from youthgroup and she also said she reads this blog. (-: I just wanted you to know and I am praying for you. You are a very strong person. And I know it is only by God's strength that we get through things so I am praying that God continues to give you strength.
God Bless!!!!!
Irene
I pray that God opens the door for you to enjoy those things soon Tricia! Such a great attitude & faith-keep pushing on!
ReplyDeleteTricia-
ReplyDeleteWe have all fallen in love with your vigor for life and pray that soon you return to the freedom and wonderful monotiny of daily life. Thanks for sharing your life, and your husband and your family wit the world. In return for sharing your story we offer many thousands of prayers up on your behalf.
Hugs from Rachel in PA
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for you to enjoy all those things again. Thank you for reminding me to enjoy the little blessings that I take for granted each day. You are so beautiful!!
Hi Tricia,
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to hear from you although you have no idea who I am. That's weird!
I am a Mom like you. There is no greater blessing than having a child. Hold on to that thought! You are working towards the BEST days of your life!
Love your blog post, Tricia! So colorful and a great review of all the things you love and miss. I pray and truly hope you will get to do/have these things again many times in the future.
ReplyDeleteCertainly reminds me how much we take things for granted! I may not be able to leave comments tomorrow to newer posts since I'm having surgery to remove one bad parathyroid gland (resulting in high blood calcium level, which isn't good long-term). I continue to pray all goes well for you and Gwyneth, and that you'll be able to have the lung transplant soon!
All the best,
Marissa :-)
Tricia, as so many have already said, it is great to hear from you and know that you're feeling up to blogging. I've been praying for you, your precious Gwyneth, and Nate. (Sorry… I just couldn't bring myself to call him precious or beautiful, but he's a wonderful husband.) What an awesome, mighty God we serve! Your faith and trust in Him is such an inspiration to us all. You are truly beautiful inside and out. Your face reflects your Father's love.
ReplyDeleteMy father-in-law contracted West Nile Virus last August, and has been on a respirator since then. They have begun weaning him off the vent, but since he is 82, it's a long slow journey for him. He is just beginning to be able to eat solid food again. Yesterday, to celebrate their 57th anniversary, he got to have a few bites of ice cream. He has a CaringBridge site and would appreciate your prayers. You can find him Here .
Thanks to you both for sharing your journey with us. I almost feel like I know you.
Love,
Barb M
I've never met you but would love to one day. You guys are the cutest couple with amazing faith. It's an honor to be a part of this season in your life. We'll keep praying for you.
ReplyDeleteThank-you for those prayer points Tricia - I know how to pray for you more specifically now! so glad to hear of the continual little "Gwyneth steps" of improvement going on - God is so good, all of the time!
ReplyDeleteContinuing to pray for you all.
x
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteAs I've told Nate before, I'm not super religious, but I think of you, Gwyneth & Nate often & love hearing your updates!
I think that the fact that you miss those things is a good sign, it gives you something to fight for & look forward to. The day you start enjoying living in a hospital would be the day I start to really worry about you!
I cannot imagine what you are going through, but I do know that your patience & streght are an inspriation to me!!
Keep it up & all the best mate, xx
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on your blog. I am praying for all those points; that you will be able to do them again SOON.
Loved all the pics--especially the one of Gwyneth in the crocheted blanket with the bow in her hair.
BTW: The pic of you out side the hospital was so color coordinated: your headband matched your wristbands which matched your "Dress". You are always styling.
My love to you today,
Carol
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me either, but just know that you have SOOO many people out there rooting for you!!! I'm a mom living in Texas, and I just think that you and Nate are the cutest couple. You are so blessed to have each other. The love you share shines through. Your daughter is adorable!!! I just know she is a fighter and going to get stronger everyday. That bow and matching blanket was too cute. You are in my prayers and you keep those warm thoughts in your mind and heart, because you can and will do all those things again! Tracie
Tricia, So great to see a post from you. I agree with all of the other posters that you are just a cutie~ a beautiful person, both inside and out.
ReplyDeleteAs I sit here in 20 degree Indiana weather (it was 2 degrees last night!), I can totally identify with your desire for sunshine on your skin.
I envy your Year round residence in OBX! We visit whenever we can to Whalehead in Corolla. I miss Tulio's pastry shop. (sorry, CF appetite)
I am a 34 year old woman with CF, married 15 years to my soulmate, Mike. I am "retired" from new home construction sales and stay at home with my baby boy (3 years old). He is the light of my life.
I was attracted to your story after reading a post on Cystic-L requesting prayer for you. I read Nathan's blog and your story touched my heart. I immediately wrote an email and forwarded Nathan's link to my entire email list (200+). Those that know my husband and I know how close your story hits home with us. We went through a very similar thing with the exception of my CF team telling me "congratulations, clinically you have always done well" when I found out I was pregnant. Things went to heck pretty fast in my 3rd trimester and I, too, delivered my baby via emergency C-section under general anesthesia. I was in ICU while my baby was sent home healthy. (without mama :-( ) He came back through ER at 5 days of age and its a long story at that point. He and I eventually went home together on the same day weeks later.
I have been through the rehabilitation (pulmonary and mentally!) Right now my marriage is suffering and we are working on that. If you get a chance, google Welcome to Holland and read the poem. That's my new life. I love many many aspects of it and my little guy is coming a long way.
I tell you all of this not to ramble on about myself, but to EMPHASIZE to you that I have been through it, sister!!
I am now a huge advocate for special needs children and work tirelessly to ensure his and my medical recovery. I am well versed in therapies, alternative therapies, and sources of support.
If I can ever be a source of support, a friend, a person to ask, "where do you find....?", "Have you tried?" please don't hesitate to email me. Nathan has my email. (Melissa, Mike, and Brendon Roark)
Your story is inspiring and God has your new little family (as well as your extended family) in His hands. I am humbled and in awe at the power of prayer.
I can't tell you how inspiring you and your husband are! It is refreshing to hear of others who TRULY value the sanctity of life. What a blessing children are from God. You all are in my family's daily prayers. May God continue to bless you all abundantly throughout this challenging time.
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you what WE miss.......
YOU!!! Can't wait till we can see you again.
xoxox,
Matt and Jenn
Tricia! So good to read your blog! I'll keep reading as long as you and Nate keep writing! Bless you both during these times. I pray that your spirits will be UP and that those new lungs will be coming your way VERY SOON!!!! Keep fighting and BELIEVING!!!! Much love to you both!
ReplyDeleteWow, amazing how much Tricia and I have in common! First is of course my faith in God, I don't know how I would be able to get through all the trials with CF without God! I was also homeschooled (along with my six siblings, two brothers also had CF). But I didn't miss out socially, I love like she said we are marked that if we are homeschooled we are 'socially backwards' but I had the best time, friends and didn't have to complain about teachers or stupid homework!
ReplyDeleteI also love her new post and the things she is looking forward too, I too am looking forward to a lot of those things, I love singing and use to be able to sing, now I can't and miss it a ton.
Driving, I really don't drive anymore because my husband has the car all day and then when I do go out it's usually with him! I mostly want freedom again to go run errands etc... without oxygen and getting tired.
wearing clothes....okay I do wear clothes but I wear jammies (yoga pants with long sleeve shirt) all day long! I don't get dressed I just change jammies! It's just too much work for me and I don't go anywhere and they are more comfortable to lounge in than jeans, but I haven't actually been shopping for clothes in over a year! how sad!
getting some sun on your skin....now this one I will do once the sun finally comes out, my oxygen tube is long enough that I can sit out back and soak up some sun and watch the dogs play, that one I am looking forward too alot.
I can't remember other ones but just know I do know a lot of what you are going through. I keep you (Tricia, Gwyneth, and Nate) in my prayers daily. I hope to see that you were put on the transplant list soon!
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me but I have read your story and followed your success! :)
I know what it feels like to be homesick while you're sitting miles away from your home and wondering when you will be back! But through prayers and faith I do believe you will be back with your family and friends soon! Keep your wonderful faith and lean not on your own understanding. Your husband does such a wonderful job of keeping everyone updated and it's so wondereful to hear such great news! Keep getting better. That's all you have to do.
All of my prayers and love,
Victoria
Tricia and Nathan, again and again thanks for sharing you beautiful story and faith, praying for you and your little " ROSE " I read this and I ´d love to share with you
ReplyDelete... "And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you."
Psalm 39:7
"God is the author of all HOPE and he will never leave your side as you walk through the dark, confusing, lonely and painful places in your life. He will replace your clouds of despair with the brilliant, penetrating light of his everlasting love. He will fill your heart with peace and your mind with wisdom and understanding."
From Moments of Peace in the Presence of God.
Youre beautiful and I can´t wait for the day to see you out of the hospital just taking care of your family and doing the "ordinary things" you miss so much.
Sorry for my english,
With love, Luciana RJ- Brazil
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteIn reading your thoughts this morning, it occurred to me one reason why I am so fascinated with your story. Yes, you are indeed extraordinary in that you have CF, a premature infant. But really, you are an orninary woman like most of us out here. God works miracles in ORDINARY WOMEN'S lives and you are living proof. Thank you for sharing so intimately your life in living with CF, your life with Nate, and now your life with Gwyneth. You are proof that God can and does work modern day miracles with ordinary people. We don't have to be Moses or a leper, or a paralytic...we can be women, men, babies, children from far and wide and His love stretches as far as we can imagine and He does live and breath and work in our lives today!
Keep on keepin' on and know how much you are loved by many Christian brothers and sisters out here!
I'm praying for those lungs, and a good drink of water! (Okay, and a new outfit to go with the lungs and drink of water!) We love you from California!
ReplyDeleteHang in there, Tricia. Still praying in Nashville!
ReplyDeleteTricia, You are my hero. Your faith is so inspiring. My daughter and I are praying for you daily! I just know that there will be a happily ever after in your story. My church will be praying for you on the 23rd. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteNate,
ReplyDeleteIf you want to delete this, I'm OK with it. But I want to address this recent comment:
"Yeah, I guess it was totally worth risking your health to bring that baby into the world, especially since you're apparently not looking forward to doing anything with her at all.
February 11, 2008 12:04 PM"
Anonymous poster - Maybe you didn't really care to carefully read the post you're commenting on from Tricia's blog, but she wrote about the things she missed due to her hospitalization. It wasn't about what she had yet to experience, like being a mother to her baby.
Your response is totally without basis, ignorant of the well-documented desires Tricia has for her relationship with her child and is obviously founded on a bias against her choice for life.
You totally missed it. Thank God for all who get it.
It's so nice to see something from Tricia...it is obvious you have a sweet soul!! Here's the bright side...when you get better and you walk out of those hospital doors and into your closet, it will feel like a whole new wardrobe!!! You and your sweet family are always in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing so much of who you are with the world. You truly have a gentle and quiet spirit! Our whole family prays for you daily. I just know God has amazing things planned for you this coming week. I noticed on your blog how you said how much you love summertime, I truly believe you will be back on the beach with Gwyneth and a new set of lungs so you can breathe in the sea air! How wonderful that will be! Praying today is a good day! Kristin
Your post definitely gave some insight on the simple things we take for granted...thanks for the reminder! Now go give that beautiful little girl some Mommy attention....she is definitely a blessing! And to Nate....baby feet are just about the cutest little things in this world!
ReplyDeleteTricia - a/k/a Wonderwoman! So good to read a post from you - not that I don't enjoy Nate's, but knowing you are up to a post makes my heart sing! I can't wait for your life to be back to normal and for you to experience all the little things you miss - a very good reminder not to take things for granted for me. Seeing good news about you and Gwyneth is a highlight of my day. You keep getting stronger and know that you and your sweet family have found special places in the hearts of so many of us out in here in cyberland. Your daughter is beyond precious.
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteso nice to see a post from you! Like others, I don't know you but, your family's story has greatly encouraged me. Looking forward to reading more great things about your journey. Still praying for you in Texas!
Tricia, You will do all those things again because God has such blessings for you and darling little Rose. Keep the faith that you have and sit back for the ride of your life because I beleive God is going to do great things. Keeping you in my prayers. I wish I could see you and give you a big bear hug being the mother I am I love to give bear hugs and make someone smile.
ReplyDeleteContinuing to pray for you (Tricia), your husband, and your miracle. And continuing to be blessed by your story, your strength, your faith, and simply you. Thanks for letting those you will never meet this side of heaven peek into your life. we are blessed to have a look.
ReplyDeleteBIG HUGS coming your way! I know how terrible it is when people say/write the ugliest/ignorant things possible...it is just heartbreaking. Please know that you are loved very much by so many who have never even met you and that you are a TRUE inspiration to me. My son was born premature with a congenital heart defect, among other birth defects...and he has been in and out of the hospital a lot over the past year and a half..he has had 2 open heart surgeries and he has almost died on more than one occassion...yet, he is still here...being a typical toddler, driving me crazy at times! :) Why he is here, my gosh, God works wonderful and amazing miracles and my son is proof of that. I am just an ordinary woman like you who has been given an extrodinary gift and that gift has touched the lives of so many....push away the negativity and feel proud of you, your husband and your daughter! You are all amazing! God bless you all!
Just wanted to send Tricia a huuuuuge hug.
ReplyDeleteWe love you... even those of us who have never met you, Gwyneth, and Nate
P.S. BEAUTIFUL wedding photo! :)
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me. I'm a "lurker" who lives up in Ontario, Canada, and who doesn't usually leave comments on blogs. However, I was moved today to write to you.
I've checked in on you and your precious family every day since I was first pointed your way from another blog that I frequent. I peek in first thing in the morning, usually once during the day, and again before I go to bed. Seems like an odd thing for someone who doesn't even know you to do, but I'm sure I'm not alone, and it's very indicative of how very inspiring you are! (Yes, it helps that Nathan is a good writer, however, I'd be checking in even if he wrote in ALL CAPS or without any form of punctuation or sense of spelling!)
Being able to watch a miracle unfold has been an experience that I cannot put into words. I've certainly given a lot of thought to what I find challenges me on a daily basis, and have made an attempt to let small things go. (I'm wondering how much sense that makes...)
I'm also going to admit to being a bit envious of you. Your beauty just shines through every picture I've seen of you. Your husband loves you with a depth and breadth I've not often seen. You love him the same way... I'm afraid that I've never had that, and never will... Your strength, oh your strength. You seem to have a natural happiness about you. Your love of The Lord.
In my case, the envy is not all a bad thing. In fact, you've inspired me to change some things that I know I can change.
Gosh, it's no wonder I don't normally comment on blogs - I'm writing a book here!
There are so many people praying for you and your family. I'm definitely one of them! I pray that you get those new lungs, and can once again enjoy your whole list of things that you are missing while in the hospital. I pray that you get to experience the joys of motherhood, the joys of having a daughter, the joys of being a family of three (plus two!). I pray that you get to make lots of new happy memories, and can add to your list of experiences to look forward to.
I'm going to slip back into my normal lurking ways now. Just know that if I never say anything else, that I am praying for you every day.
Tricia you are an amazing woman. Your strength is an inspiration. I can't wait to read about you getting to experience all those things that you miss. I am another stranger that is just so mesmerized by your journey. I pray for you, Gwyneth, and Nate. Your faith is inspiring. I am so glad that you had the strength to write in your blog. It is really nice to read something from you. I pray for you to be listed soon and for the donor that will give you a new life.
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteIt is so wonderful to see God at work in your family. What a testimony you have. My family and friends, and I have been keeping up to date on your progress through Nate's blog, but it is so wonderful to hear from you. I've told Nate that my son has cf and we are in the hosptital too. Our story is so uncomplicated when put beside yours. Everything happens according to God's plan. Gwyneth is a blessed gift from God and I know you are so proud of her. You are such an inspiration to us all! Keep living according to God's plan and He will hold your hand all the way and continue to shower you with His blessings. I pray that you get to do all those things I know you miss very soon.
Love and prayers,
Robin Griffin and family
Dear Tricia, HELLOOOO!!!! Its Emmie here from the UK. I have CF and run a charity campaigning for organ donor awareness. It's so nice to see a blog post by YOU!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteGwyneth is THE most adorable little girl ever and she is also one very lucky little lady to have a Mummy and Daddy who love her to bits. Your story has really helped me in so many ways and I love the photos and videos that Nate puts up - its so nice of you to let us keep up to date with how you both are.
Your little pug is gorgeous too! I have an adorable little West Highland Terrier called Daisy who is so cute, I reckon she'd love Meke!
I wanted to knit Gwyneth a teeny tiny little hat but because I have CF I realised it probably wasn't a good idea (just incase there is a 1 in a billion chance of passing anything on), which is sad but I wanted to say that I had planned to. I love her bobble hat - how cute is that?!!
My friend was on a tracheotomy ventilator for several weeks after her double lung transplant and I remember her telling me how the first time she was allowed to drink was the most amazing moment ever. I hope you get that chance to drink really soon.
Anyway, sorry for waffling on! Blowing a big fat hug your way from over the ocean.
Emma xxxxxxx
Tricia~
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your "voice!" I came into your story after you had Gwyneth. Your strength amazes me! I pray for you, Gwyneth and Nate daily. I pray that you will soon get new lungs and be able to start enjoying the things so many of us take for granted every minute! (Like a nice cold glass of water!)
Just one complaint... it isn't fair that you look better in the hospital than I do on my best day! :) You are remarkable! Keep getting better and I will continue to pray!
With much love!
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteI was so GREAT to read your recent post! I love your "motto"! So many of the things you miss are things most of us take for granted so often. Thanks for the reminder to thank God for even the "little things" in life, and to take time to "smell the roses"! You're such an inspiration to all who know you (and even to many who don't!!)
Sending a big HUG and Sparky CHEER your way! We are continuing to pray for you, Gwyneth, and Nathan.
Continue to "Wait upon the Lord, and HE will renew your strength." Isaiah 40:31
And, keep flashing that BEAUTIFUL SMILE- It shines for the LORD!
Love ya,
Laura E.(and family :)
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteI've never met you...but I wanted to let you know that I've been praying for your family! I live in Anchorage, Alaska which is a four hour time difference from the east coast. I pray a lot for you in the evenings here because I know that is when you are probably trying to fall asleep. I will continue to pray specifically that you rest well in the hospital (because sometimes that can be very hard), and that you continue to fight off those icky hospital bugs.
May the Lord Bless You and Keep You.
Davita Campbell
Tricia, you are an amazing woman and I am awed by your strength and determination. I had a child in the NICU at Duke and he is a happy, healthy 2 year old today. I know what it is like to have a baby against all odds, and I hope you smile every time you think of what a wonderful time all three of you will have when you are home at Nags Head together. You have already shown yourself to be a fabulous mother - keep up the good work!
I second that blogger's comment about how GREAT you look, Tricia! God's love shines through so clearly in you. On my very best day ever I am pretty sure I do not glow with LIFE the way you do. How can a woman have surgery, give birth, be asleep for nine days and wake up absolutely radiant?
ReplyDeleteMy heart overflows with love for you, Nate and Gwyneth. Also for your parents, Nate's parents and all your siblings and friends.
For every deep breath and night I get to sleep curled into my husband, I will think of you and pray for your coming days and all you will have to enjoy and look forward to!
You are most assuredly loved.
I feel like there is nothing left to say. It has all been said. You and Nate are truly amazing. Your faith and trust in God is awe-inspiring. I too check several times a day to see if there is new news or pictures. I like being reminded to NOT take the little everyday things for granted. Thank you for your courage to be Real with your story. Thank you for your witness to the miracles God has given you. Thank you for allowing us to come along side of you. I pray for you everyday!!!
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the wonderful blog entry and beautiful pictures. While I may not know your family, I look forward to the postings from Nate, Rick, Andy, Megan and Janet (and now you too!). What an inspiration your family is to so many. I hope that some day soon you get to experience the items on your list as well as add on all the wonderful things that come along with motherhood. Your faith is amazing!
I posted once prior, it was to one of Nate’s entries about Organ donation as I have an Aunt that had a double-lung transplant. She is not a CFer, she has Pulmonary Hypertension. Anyway, I hope you get listed and receive your lungs VERY soon. I will continue to pray for you and your family.
Steph
ReplyDeleteso excited to see a post from you. So many are praying for you and your sweet baby! I cannot wait to read the post that you will write to tell us all what it is like to breath with new lungs.
Nice to hear from you Tricia :)
ReplyDeleteTricia!
ReplyDeleteI miss:
>You
>Your laughing
>Picking on you ever so slightly in the kinder Lawrenson way or at least thinking about it.
>The occasional meal you fix, especially the ones that included desert or ice cream or cookies or brownies or cake.
>You asking if anyone else wants the last piece or spoonful at dinner
>Your most excellent cotton candy making skills
>You on the youth and children's ministry teams
>You stopping by the church for a visit during the day to bring Nate a Sonic Sundae but not one for me. :(
The list could go on and on. I'm saving the cotton candy job for you at Trunk or Treat Extravaganza 2008.
Ty says he misses you too.
Gwenyth's Great Uncle Andy
Tricia, you are so beautiful, and your family's story has captivated me. I continue to pray for you daily and rejoice each time I log onto Nate's blog and see photos of you and Gwyneth. Praise be to our glorious God for the amazing work He is doing in your life!
ReplyDeleteTricia, You don't know me but I have been following your life story since the beginning of January. I just want you to know that your christian walk has made me evaluate my own for the good. You are a shining example of a steadfast christian who stands firm on God's rock when faced with such hardships and sickness. Your love for Gwyneth is amazing - risking your own life for hers - so powerful!!! I pray God will fully bless you, Nate and Gwyneth with full, happy lives for all that you have done for His kingdom! You and your little Rose remain in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteWith love,
from Charlotte, NC
Tricia, I wanted you to know that you have been God's way of turning my focus back to Him. I had been lazy about spending time with him, and the story of your faith in Him and the faith of your family has sent me running back to the Arms of our Heavenly Father. I know that our paths will likely not cross while here on earth, but I look forward to the day when we can all sit in His Glory and thank Him for the miracle of your life and the life of your family. Thank you for being a witness for Him, even when times are hard. I pray that God continues to richly bless you.
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteThank you (and Nate) for continuing to share a story that you don't have to share. You are both so open and honest. I spoke with Allison Wyant this week and she said that you and Nate have a gift for making people feel like they've known you forever...and I can imagine that is completely true. You, Nate, and Gwyneth continue to be in my prayers everyday. I think that God must loves mothers in a special way, because there is no greater miracle than bringing another precious life into the world. Your sister in Christ.
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog for a brief time, but I have come to really appreciate 3 things about Nate & you: trust in God, tenacity in holding on to Him and the transparency you both have shown. It's an encouragement to those of us who humans following our God.
Thank you. And, Gwyneth is just beautiful...I love seeing her change over time!
Jennifer
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteI've been following your story since before the birth of Gwyneth. My friend Michelle is friends with your sisters in NJ. You are an amazing and beautiful woman! I'm so glad you've felt up to sharing things about yourself and your family. Thank you for allowing us as complete strangers to know you, Nate and Gwyneth so that we might pray for you and rejoice with you! I know God is pleased with how you continue to honor him with life and your choices. Gwyneth is beautiful! I always look at her pictures 3 and 4 times when they're posted. Praying for you today!
Trish, I absolutely love you and wish and pray for your health and safety!!! MUCH LOVE MY LOVERLY!!! and many blessings on being a mommy, wifey and loved one to so many! MUAH!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog and keep your family in my prayers. I loved your post about what you miss, and I really hope you can do those things soon. The pictures were great. It is nice to see things from your perspective as well! :) (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteOh! I like it Andy. Here's what we miss Tricia, since you've been away from us for a while now. Getting down there is awesome, but it's not the same as having you here:
ReplyDelete-Your regular visits to your Yankee roots
-Your willingness to watch my kid(s) so Al and I can go out to eat
-The way you hug, love and play with Josh even when your worn out from trying to sleep on my sofa bed
-Catching the sun in our backyard by our "pool" ;) while Josh plays
-Getting you a cheese steak or having you call me on your ride up to get the number to a local place because you need on right away
-Hearing your sweet voice
-Hearing your contagious laughter
I have faith that those days will return and that this will be the best summer ever for you, me and our kids!!
Your sweet post about waiting to do things reminded me...
ReplyDeleteI was pretty darn sick during my fifth pregnancy. I was in the Dr's office at least twice a week for non-stress tests and ultrasounds with my two toddlers in tow. At home, I was struggling with my health and trying to keep a household with four young kids running. I remember sitting in my glider rocker (something that gives me comfort) and daydreaming about my baby. I pictured him at the age of 6-7 months sitting on the floor, chubby, with arms pumping excitedly up and down (if you've watched babies much, you can probably picture what I'm talking about in your mind), smiling. That vision got me through so much. It struck me when he actually reached that age what a blessing it had been to have been able to conjure up that image in my mind.
It's wonderful that you have such a list of things to keep you going. That FAITH will get you there! My best to you!
We all know that God works many miracles, but so many of us were led to you in the most unusual of circumstances. I am so grateful to have 'found' your family and to be able to follow the journey that you're on. Read each and every comment as I do and you'll be amazed at your 'following'. Please don't shy away from posting more. As much as we love Nate's postings, it's so great to 'get to know' you a little better through your words. Not one of us can imagine, no matter how similar the situation, all that you are going thru. I know that your apparent strength will see you thru this lengthy journey, but please know that so many (and many more non-commenters) are praying for you and princess Gwyneth! May God continue to grace you with his miracles...
ReplyDeleteTricia, Through Nathan we have fell in love with you and Gwyneth. It is great to now read things from your point of view. You and Gwyneth are always in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteMuch love and respect,
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteI loved reading your post and have been praying for you & your family a few times a day lately. I'm usually not into reading blogs, let alone leaving comments- but you and your story have touched my heart and blessed my life. Hang in there today and hopefully it brings some comfort to know there are tons of people that "get it" and are praying for you!
Hi Tricia, Nate and Gwyneth.
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog. A friend of mine sent me the link and said 'I think you should read this.' Your family has captured my heart! What amazing stories you have, from your beautiful love story to your courageous and inspiring life with CF to the miraculous birth of Gwyneth. Nate first of all you deserve a standing ovation. Having both of your girls in the hospital at the same time and still managing to cope, to keep the faith, and to uplift Tricia and Gwyneth is amazing. Tricia, I want you to know that I think-I KNOW-that God has amazing plans for you. 'For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.' You have been walking your life out, from what I've seen in pictures and in words, with grace and strength. Your every moment is in the Lord's hands. Keep on keeping on, you're doing great!! And Gwyneth... what a sweetheart! A tiny miracle! Again, I can only imagine the plans our God has for her. She will grow and get stronger and before you know it she will be in your arms :)
I just wanted to encourage you all from a 'somewhat/but not really' place of being able to relate to you. Our son Gabe (3rd lil one) was born w/o an immune system. He spent 8 months in the hospital... bone marrow transplant... coma... currently on a trach and ventilator... There were days, weeks, months I never thought we'd get out of the hospital or that the light at the end of the tunnel would come, but it did. Keep the faith. You all are AMAZING!!
Many thoughts and prayers,
Rachel
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteWhat I loved so much about your list is your ability to see the joy in the little things in your life . . . like drinking water. But even more impressive to me is that you're finding joy even in less than perfect circumstances.
I sincerely hope you get those new lungs soon so you can drink water, go to Hawaii and keep celebrating every moment as a wife and mother.
I recently stumbled across your blog by chance, and continue to be amazed by your family's strength, faith, and the daily miracles you write about.
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you for sharing your story. You & your family inspired me to go back to church and God this past weekend. I have been putting God second to the craziness of my life...I recently moved and was finding it difficult searching for a new church. And reading about your faith and relationship with God was all the motivation I needed. I prayed for your family at my new church on Sunday, and haven't stopped since. God Bless you and your girls!
ReplyDeleteTricia, I've been reading your husbands blog, I got it off a friends blog list. I want to tell you that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! Gwyneth is absolutely beautiful!
Hi Tricia~
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me, but like many others, I've been following your story! I am continually amazed & inspired by what God is doing in your lives and the shining examples you are of Him!!! When I came on here today and saw that you had written a post, I was so excited! I loved your list and seeing the pictures you put on your site. Thanks for sharing all that with us!
I figured out, I think it was last week, that I went to the same college as your sister, Megan. (I E-mailed her to figure out if that was indeed true and it is). I kept thinking I recognized your maiden name when I'd see it in posts and then I went to Megans blog one day and when I saw a pic of her it finally clicked. Anyway... small world.... .(I think I already posted that on another reply, but figured I'd put it in the reply to your post too)
Well, thanks for sharing your beautiful story with us. Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous and I loved the outfit & bow the nursed put her in! Like I already said, Christ shines so clearly in your family, and you are such examples of His life and love to so many out there!!!!
Continuing to pray for you in NY,
Amy
(fellow mom of preemies & blessed friend of a CF mom!)
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to read your blog! I started reading about you guys when Gwyneth was a few days old and you were "asleep". The day you woke up I was SOOO excited I went and told my boys who looked at me like I was crazy since they had no idea what I was talking about! Your story has really helped me to enjoy the small things in life and not take them for granted. Thank you for letting us have a few of your rays of sunshine. You are a strength to all that read about you and your family. I am praying for you to get better and for Gwyneth and Nate. You guys are amazing!
Maren (KY)
Tricia, I just wanted to let you know that me and my kids pray for you daily. The name Tricia and Gwyneth are part of our daily prayers now. My kids (who 4,2 and 1) pray for Gwyneth to get better so her mommy can be with her. I have mentioned you guys on my blog and I know thousands have you in their prayers.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to your blog;) Your post about what you missed the most with the pictures was very beautiful, and I can see why you miss those things-I pray for you so you can get back to those things you have missed.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! on being a new mom-your baby is a beauty, and I pray for her too.
Praying for everyone,
amanda in mb, sc
Ah Tricia, you make me choke up. Just think of all the new great times ahead, you have a daughter, and speaking from experience (I have three) there is nothing like it. Before you know it hospital time will be a thing of the past and you will be posing for pictures with your daughter for your photographer husband, and we will all be checking back here often!
ReplyDeleteI'm crying right now and I'm not sure why.
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time getting pregnant. I wasn't sick or anything, but it just wasn't happening.
I tried for ten years (sadly, in more than one relationship). I was incredibly sad and incredibly disappointed.
I kept trying.
I finally met the most amazing man. He had a teenage daughter already and I figured that would be enough for me.
Wouldn't you know it? I got pregnant.
I was 31 years old, overweight, and on anti-depressants.
We had a few complications with her birth and immediately afterwards, but things wound up working out.
Why am I writing to you? I'm not sure.
I think often about that feeling right after she was born; that feeling that even if I got to see her for one minute, it would be enough. I looked at her father and we knew, right in that moment, that it was ok.
I thought to myself (and I spoke it aloud, which I did not know at the time), "God would not let me get this far only to take her away from me."
He didn't. He has let me keep her here with me so far. I am so grateful.
We never know when or how we will get called home to him, so we have to do each day what we believe is right. Nothing more; nothing less.
I won't go on and on about how wonderful I think you two are, about what an inspiration you are to me, and about how much I think of all three of you. I think you already know that.
I just wanted to let you know that somewhere in this big world, there is an overweight, getting old, Italian Catholic, former NYer with a horrible temper that believes everything you are both doing is everything that is right with this world.
Love, health, hope, and happiness to you all.
You don't know me, but I've been reading your husband's blog since finding a post about it on another blog I read -- I can't wait until we're reading about you getting to do all those fun things again! And I can't wait to hear all about how you show Gwyneth how to enjoy life as much as you do:)
ReplyDeleteTricia-
ReplyDeleteI have been reading this blog and following your story for a while- I am inspired by your strength and I am praying for you, your little baby girl, and your hubby. Thanks for keeping your courage up and sharing your incredibly story with us all. It's amazing to see God work in your lives and perform miracles in you and Gwyneth...as I know He will continue to do. You guys rock :)
Monica from FL :)
Good Afternoon
ReplyDeleteI want you to know that you are loved. I share stories and picture of the three of you with my husband like I know you. He probably thinks I'm crazy but he just smiles.
Nate you remind me of my husband. Sort of that "fearless leader of the family" type. Defender of good. Keep being a super hero!
Tricia - I just wanted to let you know that I have been keeping you, your wondeful husband and your beautfiul daughter in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteTricia! Thanks for sharing! You and your family continue to be in my prayers. My sister just went active on the transplant list....I am trying to stay calm.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless,
Kerry in Nebraska
I can't wait until you can be as tan as you want and do all of your favorite things again. I remember the first time we laid in the sun in my yard in HH with lemon juice on our hair trying to be blondes!
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing, strong, beautiful woman and I am so lucky to have a friend like you. I love you.
To an amazing wife and mother. Keep fighting, Tricia!!
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteDon't let the devil get you down, girl...keep moving on! YOU are one of the most amazing mothers I've ever come across. You have sacrificed so selflessly for Gwyneth...I have to say that if I would have been in the same situation, I don't know if I would have been brave enough to do the same. Praise God for mothers like you.
Continue to pray for you and your beautiful family. Love the updates and that Gweneth is getting almost as big as her pug! So glad you all are hanging in there. Praying God's miracle for the transplant as well. Brenda
ReplyDeleteI got thirsty just reading about you not being able to drink....I hope you get to take a cold drink of water very very soon! And all of those other things too :). I'm sure there are a lot of other things, just like taking a drink, that all of us healthy people reading your blog take for granted every day. You're in my thoughts and prayers :)
ReplyDeleteTricia and Nate, you are in my prayers daily. I am so excited that you are all doing well, and I enjoy seeing pictures of little Gwyneth. What a beauty!
ReplyDeleteYou both have such tremendous faith, and you are wonderful examples for so many people. (And I definitely include myself when I say that!) May God continue to keep you strong, through your joys and through times of adversity.
During my own pregnancy right now, I hated having to drink so much water... but now I will toast to you, dear Tricia. Every time I drink a glass of water, I will pray for you. And hope that you get a sip real soon! Love you
ReplyDeleteHave you thought yet, that from all eternity , God has planned that wee Gwyneth Rose would be placed into your family and none other;to be nurtured and brought up under His Word and plan ?? And to think, Daddy and I had a role in this plan too. It is almost too much to take in. We are so excited to watch His plans unfold. Me, I do not I miss too much because, throuhg all of these days, you still tell us you love us each time we come or go from you room, and still give those sweet hugs. Love you soooo much and I will see you tomorrow night.Mom
ReplyDeleteIt was GREAT to read your blog, Tricia!!! Enjoyed the pictures, too! It's been great coming to Nathan's blog and "getting a report", like part of the family. :)
ReplyDeleteI pray for you guys daily and look forward to reading more and more great things about you and your family!
My name is Sally and I've been following your story ever since a friend sent your blog to me - I find myself rejoicing with you, crying with you, and praying for you constantly. May God continue to cover you, your husband, and your darling little girl with angels and extra strength exactly when you need them.
ReplyDeleteTo God be the glory...
It's so nice to "hear" from you Tricia! Hang in there and don't let anyone get you down!!! You have a wonderful loving husband who adores you and a beautiful baby! Your story is inspiring even thoug it is hard to live I am sur! Just remember your new lungs are coming soon! There will be light at the end of the tunnel! I hope your hospital stay is as short as possible and you get to comfortably do all the things most people take for granted.
ReplyDeleteHi Tricia!
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me, but I have been following your story, and I continue to pray for your family!
Your list reminded me of a lot of the things I miss in life, I'm in the middle of an illness too right now, and I have a J-tube (feeding tube), and I cannot drink or eat....It's horrible, right?!
Don't worry though, God's on your side, and one day you are going to get to accomplish all of those items on your list + more...with little Gwyneth and Nathan at your side :)
God Bless!
Tricia- I can't figure out how to comment on your page, but I wanted you to know how happy I was to read YOUR words. Nate's been awesome about keeping us updated, but it's very cool to hear from you. :-) Keep it up! Still praying for you and you guys are in our thoughts all the time.
ReplyDeleteOur God is faithful! Hopefully soon you will be able to do some of those things on your list that we often take for granted.
ReplyDeleteRest well. Be strong. We are praying!
Sending hugs from Lynchburg...
I just got a link to your blog. You are a strong and inspiring woman. We will br praying for your family! God bless you!
ReplyDeleteTricia and Nathan,
ReplyDeleteYou guys are incredible! What an inspiration you are! Thanks for sharing your life and love with us.
You are in my prayers!
Tricia ... you are truly an amazing woman! Having been through cancer with a newborn, I have an inkling of how hard it is to be where you are ... and all I can do is lift you up in prayer each day, each hour, and each minute - for strength, for continued improvement towards a transplant, and for many years of life with your sweet little Gwyneth. She is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteI will keep praying for all 3 of you!
carlyn
Tricia, you are so special. I hope you always know that without a doubt. I am admiring you in so many ways. That precious baby is your gift from God! What an awesome mother you are to go the extra length to get her here safely. I am in awe of you and your strength. I think you must be a pretty neat gal to have such a fun loving and devoted husband too. Isn't God good? Never doubt that! Many prayers coming your way!
ReplyDeleteLove, Michelle
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking time and energy to post on your blog. It brightens my day just to imagine you typing away on your laptop. Your beauty and energy just ooze from your words. Gwyneth is such a lucky girl to have such a fun-loving, genuine mommy who, by example, will teach her the gift of every detail of life. I had never thought before about how much I love and am thankful every glass of water I drink throughout the day. You are so loved...obviously by your family and friends and now by a multitude of strangers, like me. Still praying for you.
Much love,
Nicole Coyle
Tricia, I hope this finds you feeling better. I love to read your blog and also to read Nate's comments. I pray that you will receive a new set of lungs really soon so you can go home to your husband and that very precious litle one, Gwyneth Rose. Have you gotten to hold her yet? She is so very tiny, and so very precious.
ReplyDeleteKeep on trusting, God will be there for you!
I am not one to comment or post anything on blogs, but you inspired me to. Your story/life journey has touched me in so many ways and I praise God for your honest and courageous spirits - all three of you! What a lesson in both life and faith you are teaching those who read your blogs. I know you do not set out to teach in such ways but that is how the Lord uses our stories to touch others. I pray for you everyday, I root for your every milestone, and cheer and hope for your love that surpasses all. Tricia, you are beautiful!! Nate, you are a blessed man to have these amazing women in your life and a gifted writer to express it so. I pray Tricia, you will share those very things that make you strong, loving and beautiful with your daughter, Gwyneth. Can't wait to read more of your posts Tricia!
ReplyDeleteTricia -
ReplyDeleteI don't know you personally, but I sure feel like I do! I have been following your story DAILY and praying for you ever since January 3rd. My sister-in-law is Laura Edwards. My older brother is Greg Edwards. Over a month ago, Laura sent out a "prayer request" email to many people on January 3rd. I was one of the FORTUNATE ones on her email distribution list. I say I was one of the FORTUNATE ones, because I can honestly say that it has been my PLEASURE to pray for you and Nathan and baby Gwyneth ever since learning of your story. YOU have inspired me in SO MANY ways, Tricia! Your perserverence, your strength, and your UNshaken FAITH in our Lord are all such admirable qualities! I think of you several times a day! YOUR story has encouraged me and given me the opportunity to re-examine my own life! What a living testimony you are to JESUS CHRIST! Tricia, YOU GO GIRL! I look forward to reading so MANY more POSITIVE posts in the future!
My 6-year-old daughter was innocently singing a song last night.
"This Little Light Of Mine.....I'm gonna let it shine..."
Tricia, I can't help but think of YOU when I hear that song. You are so STRONG!
"Let it shine...let it shine...let it shine"
Thank You. Thank you for reminding us that life is oh so special and to not take the little things for granted. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Since finding your story just a few days before the birth of your beautiful daughter, I have gone back and read every word and been amazed, humbled and inspired by your family's amazing journey. Not to mention, I have an enourmous respect for what you have gone through, the decisions you have made, and most importantly your incredible faith you have not waivered from. One of our very best friends in the world is living his life to the fullest with CF....and he and his wife have a beautiful miracle baby boy that we all prayed for. God is telling a beautiful story through you and your family...and He is not finished with you yet! In fact, it is my firm belief that He is going to show off in a mighty way through all of you. It will be our privilege to read about the miracles that are coming your way in the coming days! Please know people everywhere are falling in love with and praying for your precious family.
ReplyDeleteI frequent this blog daily. However, I have never left a comment before because I could never find the right words. I still don't know what to say, other then.....
ReplyDeleteI continue to pray for your family every day.
Tricia- You are a wonderful loving mother. We have never met but I have been reading Nates site. You are an inspiration. You are amazing. Gywneth is so lucky to have you as her mommy. I am sure you will both enjoy a lifetime of tea parties, dress-up and giggles. Your family continues to be in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you to you, your husband and daughter for reminding my family and I of the simple joys that we take for granted.
ReplyDeleteYou are in my thoughts and prayers on a daily basis and I so hope that you get listed and get new lungs soon.
ReplyDeleteTricia and Nate,
ReplyDeleteYou guys have no idea who I am, but I stumbled across your blog back a couple of months ago. I love reading about your daily miracles that are taking place. Tricia, it was great to see your update yesterday. I'm praying for continued recovery, and that you'll get to see your precious baby girl again soon.
Praying for strength, rest, and peace.
Brittany
Nate & Tricia,
ReplyDeleteI would like to thank you for sharing your story. The history of your relationship, your hardships and the birth of your daughter are all interesting to hear. I am one of many who come and "check" on you each day; many times. I am friends with someone who is close to your sister. I am happy that she shared the opportunity to pray for you and get to "know" you. You inspire me on a day basis. I have "shared" you with my friends so that they can see how wonderful you are too. My faith was a matter of convenience before you. I now talk with God each day and feel that you have bridged a gap with us. Thank you for that gift. Please know that while there may be short-sighted people out there that there are many more of us who you continue to inspire. Please continue to get well and thrive off the love and prayers of your friends, family and those of us who would love to meet you. I look forward to the possibility of meeting you some day when you visit NJ. While the journey that you have chosen is not easy, I know that you made the best decision. Trust in that and ignore the rest.
ReplyDeleteI mainly read your husband's blog and I can no longer even remember how I found it. I guess I am "in it for the long haul" with your family via the internet. I pray for you daily and think you are very brave. You amaze me! I pray that your new lungs arrive soon and that you can start checking things off your "to do list". By the way-Gwyneth is absolutely precious!
Hi Tricia, it's so lovely to hear from you :o) you have one of those smiles that is catching - your smile makes me smile :o)
ReplyDeleteYour story has been a blessing to me. I went to church on Sunday for the first time in almost 20 years! My 5 month old daughter, my mum and I all prayed for you, Nate and Gwyneth together with our Vicar who is also a very close friend.
You and Nate are perfect for each other and Gwyneth has fantastic parents!
I hope you get to do all those things on your list as soon as possible and I can't wait to see the pics as you tick them off :o)
Your baby is absolutely amazing and determined like her mommy:) Praying you through this time and praying for new lungs to be yours soon sweetie.
I am sorry for all the things you miss right now, but I know before long, you will be experiencing them again with new excitement. Patience must be a hard thing right now, but I pray that you have them:) My faith has grown so much in following your story since last year, and I know we serve an awesome God who loves you to pieces. Take care and know you are loved by people all over the world. So good to see your smile.:)
Hi guys,
ReplyDeleteI am one of your blog junkies who checks in every day and prays for the three of you every day! I am also a pug lover, having a perpetually spoiled 2-year old pug named Fantango who reads your blog along with me. She recommended that I send along this link that someone sent us today in hopes that it will cheer you up! It's a Monitor cleaner.
ReplyDeletePraying for the day that you can do all the things you miss so bad! Praying that you get word about your lungs soon and that in the quickest time you and your precious family can be home!!
Love,
Hi Tricia,
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Surrey, B.C. Canada! I've been following your story since the beginning of January, and although I haven't been one for leaving comments, I felt compelled to do so today. I shared your story with my daughter last night. She's 12, beautiful (of course I'm a little biased!), and healthy. I also have a 15 year old son...I'm a very lucky mom!!
My daughter, Stephie, couldn't get to sleep last night so we sat and cuddled at my computer for a little while and I showed her some of the pictures Nate had posted of Gwyneth and told her your story. We talked about how lucky we were to be healthy and how beautiful Gwyneth is!
Stephie's taking Confirmation classes at our church, so she's going to suggest to our pastor that her group pray for you and Gwyneth and your family. We'll continue to pray at home, but now you've got a bunch of Canadian kids helping out as well!
You are truly and inspiration!!
Heather Leech
Tricia, It was so neat to read a post just from you! I hope and pray that God continues to give you strength and that He will continue to use you and your family to bless those who are following your story!
ReplyDeleteTricia, It is so great to see your post...I am praying that you will soon be back to doing all those things that you miss so much. I can't imagine...You are an inspiration to me. Praising God for you and all that you have done to give Gwenyth life and praying that you and she will be well enough that you can hold her in your arms.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I love the pictures of her all wrapped up with a bow...priceless. What a blessing!
Hi Tricia and Nathan.
ReplyDeleteI began following this blog a few weeks ago when Nathan posted a prayer request on Faith Community Network, a forums where I'm a moderator. I have since checked in every day and pray for you both and your precious little Gwyneth several times a day. What a blessed little girl she is to have parents who value life and God's sovereignty as you two do. I pray daily for miracles of healing and blessing to all of you
A cold drink of water while lying on a warm sandy beach with your husband next to you and your daughter burying your feet in the sand! This is a mental picture I want for you! As a mom who misses the beach(I'm now landlocked, but grew up a Cali-girl) and the serenity it brings to the soul as you contemplate how good God is I pray for the day that you can fulfill my selfish wish!(Though in my case cold water would be ice cold Dr. Pepper)! Praying for you in Landlocked Kansas City! I am so jealous that you live on the OBX which is where I want to go so badly!
ReplyDeleteHi Tricia. Great to see you back blogging. You go girl.
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteAnother "stranger" here, just wanted to say that it's great to hear from you! I visit your husband's blog to check on you & Gwyneth. I also wanted to remind you of what a PRETTY lady you are, just in case you haven't walked by a mirror lately. I noticed in all of your pictures what a good looking person you are, in addition to your awesome spirit. I wish you continued recovery.
Florida
Tricia, You're doing GREAT. I can't wait to hear that the lung surgery is over and you're on your way to going home!! Janet and Megan keep us posted, and we're all praying for you here. Even Ben gave me a little update at school last Friday. Your daughter is gorgeous. You must be so thankful for her. Thanks for your excellent testimony. Too bad people are unkind. Love, Joanna
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were feeling well enough to update your blog. I can't remember how I happened on Nathan's blog, but I've been praying for you and Gwyneth since the day she was born and will continue to lift you all up daily in prayer.
Tricia, How beautiful to see how God is working in and using your life. Yours and Nate's ultimate trust in Him and His plan for you has been soooo encouraging to me right now. God bless your beautiful family!
ReplyDeleteWith love and prayers,
Jenn from PA
So nice to see a post form you Trica. I have been checking in for updates on your family for a few weeks. I normally don't comment, but I really just wanted you to know I am praying for you and your sweet baby girl! We serve an awesome and mighty God. You are such a great reflection of his love!
ReplyDeleteTricia I'm sure you've already heard this time and again but I have to say it again - you are such a wonderful mama to Gwyneth. Actually I think you are the definition of the kind of mother God intends for us all to be. Many new mother's are told "oh you're going to be such a great mom" but Tricia you were the moment Gwyneth was created. You chose life for your sweet baby even if it meant sacrificing your own. Sure most moms, myself included, would say we would give up our lives for our children. But how many of us ever have to really make that choice? You are such a courageous, strong, and selfless woman. Gwyneth is so blessed to have you as a mommy and God knew just what He was doing by placing her in your hands.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for there to be more mommy's just like you.
God Bless You!
Still praying and praying!
Love, Leslie
Your baby is gorgeous, and your wife is my hero. God bless you and your beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteHow great to hear from you...I am glad that you are feeling up to posting. You don't know me, but I have been following your blog, and I thought it may be encouraging to you to share my "pregnancy story." My husband and I had no trouble getting pregnant, and until I was 24 weeks, everything was going along smoothly. I was scheduled to have an ultrasound at my 24 week appt. because at the 20 week ultrasound my daughter was laying at a funny angle and refused to move, so they couldn't get all the measurements they wanted. When we had the second ultrasound my daughters head had not grown at all and my amniotic fluid levels were very low. We had an amnio, because even though it would not have changed anything, we wanted to be prepared. When it came beck with nothing abnormal, the Dr.'s were completely amazed, and still continued to warn us that our daughter may not be born "normal". During the time that we were waiting for the amnio results, I felt like I could actually physically feel people praying for us, and I KNOW, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God healed my little girl. She was born 4 weeks early, but completely "normal", and is now a goofy 18 month old who likes to run around the house completely naked in the dead of winter. I know that our story pales in comparison to what you are going through, but I hope that it offers you a bit of encouragement, and hope to see how God worked a miracle for us. We are praying for you and Nate and Gwenyth and hoping that you soon be able to do all of the things that you miss...only this time, they will be even more special because you will have your beautiful baby there with you!!!
Prayers from Ohio,
Ashlie
PS The picture of Gwenyth with the bow in her hair is freaking cute!!!
Tricia dear,
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your hubby's blog for a couple of weeks now, and I am blessed beyond measure to see the strength and grace our faithful Father has given both of you. We will continue to keep you upheld in prayer.
Your little girl... my goodness, she is precious. I worked as a NICU nurse for a couple of years, and looking at Gwyneth's pictures makes me want to go back and work there some more. She is absolutely beautiful, and I am so thankful that she seems to be doing so well.
God is using all three of you as a very powerful testimony and witness. He is doing great things in you, and you are doing great things for Him! Keep battlin' on, and He will give you the victory. The strong, sweet spirit that you and your husband are manifesting in the midst of such trial is astounding, amazing, and awe-inspiring. And I know it's all because of His grace.
in His grace,
Beka
Your story brings tears of joy and also tears of humility! If being least in this world means being first in "the kingdom", I would say you and your family will be pretty close to the place of honor! May God continue to bless you and keep you and to smile on you! I'm adding my prayers to the hundreds of others which come before the throne of our Living God on your behalf! Much love from an "Unknown Friend in Minnesota"!
ReplyDeleteDear Nate, Tricia, and sweet Gwyneth,
ReplyDeleteI feel blessed to share in your story, to pray for you, to "root" for you. It is an interesting phenomenon to have a community come together over the internet that are such prayer warriors for families.
I don't post often but I check in every day and pray daily.
We may not meet this side of Heaven, but I'll look forward to meeting you then!
Hi Tricia,
ReplyDeleteI miss your sweet smiling face at our church home! Thanks for your blog; it's really nice to see your progess. Matt and I pray for you, Gwyneth and Nate daily. From the day that I heard you were pregnant with beautiful Gwyneth I was excited, scared for you and Nate and unsure of the future. Your story is a miracle for all to read and learn from. My own child has taught me that I would sacrifice anything (including my own life) for him to live. The love that I have for my Blake is overwhelming at times but I understand why you took the risk even when the odds were against you. You are a Hero to all women who are afraid to risk something to gain something far better than we could ever understand. I will remind you like my sister does if I am stuck in a valley - Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. "
Everything will unfold as He plans at His perfect timing. I pray for you to get well and get on the transplant list so that beautiful Gwyneth will have a healthy Mama.
We love you and hope to see you soon.
Kim, Matt and Blake
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteNice to see your post. You do not know me, but I do know Nate and his family. We have been praying for you guys, and thinking about you and the road you are traveling. We have kept Gwyneth,(she is so cute), and Nate in our prayers also.
We continue to offer our prayers for continued health and improvement for you all.
Tricia,
ReplyDeleteHi! I think you have people from all over the country on this blog, reading your story and seeing God work every single day in the life of your family. Thank you for sharing with us.
We have 2 things in common! I love to sing and I love the sun. How simple and yet so refreshing and healing.
You have a good husband and your daughter is just darling. I love her name!
Nate, love your photography. I'm a semi-professional child and family photographer and you are definitely getting some cool shots in. Love the detail in Gwyneth's little feet. :)
I am praying for all of you. God is faithful.
ReplyDeleteTricia, It is so nice to see you post for a change! Ha! Kidding of course! I have to check multiple times a day to check on you and Gwyneth! :) I am not in your shoes- and nowhere near- but I can certainly imagine missing those things. Now, just imagine the glorious day when you and Nate get to experience them with Gwyneth! Oh what a day that will be!
ReplyDeleteTricia, you amaze me. Your strength and courage to live the life God has called you to blows me away. You are beautiful and your bravery and faith in our God inspires me. Gwyneth is so blessed to have you as her mommy. My husband and I pray for your family every night and trust that you are finding God to be faithful to all of His promises. May He be the God of Hope to you every day. Thanks for sharing your story with us. We are all blessed to "know" you through the blog world.
ReplyDelete((((((Tricia))))) Its great to "hear" from you. I pray for you all everyday and am looking forward to the days ahead when we are able to "hear" about you getting the chances to do all of your favorite things once again
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteYou rock :-) I don't even know you, but your story has inspired me so much. Your steadfastness in your relationship with God in spite of everything that you've gone through amazes me. Your outlook on life is just awesome. I'm being 100% sincere when I say that your daughter is unbelievably blessed to have a mother like you. Your strength, courage, and determination set a great example for Gwyneth on how a woman of God should be.
I'm sure that you've had your "off" days in your walk with the Lord (haven't we all), but it's obvious from the older posts that I've read on your blog, and what your husband says about you, that for the vast majority of the time you've been uber-close with the Lord. You've made God a consistent part of your life, when I imagine that your life in general was anything BUT consistent.
To see what God has brought you through is so beautiful. It's so obvious that His hand is on your life (and your daughter's).
I don't know you outside of the blogosphere, but I watch your story unfold...I see pictures of you and your daughter...and I see God's glory being revealed before my very eyes :-)
Praying for you in Kentcky.
To God be the Glory,
Rhea
Oh...and can I just say again...
ReplyDeleteHow CUTE is that picture of baby Gwyneth with that little pink bow in her hair? Tricia - she is such a little angel! So precious and sweet!
I have two little girls myself. Tricia - so excited for you to share all of those special "mommy/daughter" moments with sweet little Gwyneth!
Tricia, I was born June of 1982, and reading your page I feel like I wrote it all myself. I am married to a wonderful man who is my best friend, I love my dog and my family. I could not imagine having the strength that you have within you. I will keep you and your family in my prayers always. You are doing great, you are a beautiful girl. Your friend from TN Heather
ReplyDelete~~~ Tricia ~~~
ReplyDeleteYou are a strong hero. I think of you daily.
Last Mother's Day I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke caused by a blood clotting disorder and I had a DVT, and Pulmonary Embolisms. I was a very very sick person. I have been healed and had the prayers of many many people. My doctors have said that I am a walking miracle.
I have been able to return to teaching first grade! I went back to school right after the Christmas break. God is so good.
I was in the hospital only about 27 days, but I remember well when I was first able to wash my hair and take a shower, even if it was in a shower chair......... and I remember the joy I felt when I was finally able to go out into the patio/yard at the rehab place, wheeling myself. The sun felt great, and all of the experiences that I'd taken for granted were like new for me.
I am now walking without a walker, driving, and teaching an active class of first graders... I still need prayer that I continue to have energy and stamina.
I am so happy that your sweet little daughter was able to be dressed up so cutely for her one month birthday! What a wonderful thing to celebrate! She is totally adorable and I'm sure is the cutest baby in the nursery. What a precious little child.
Thank you for sharing your story.
ReplyDeleteTricia, I've recently begun following your story. Thank you for sharing your remarkable journey. Your faith in the face of so much struggle is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteKeep on fightin'! A little section of Austin, TX is praying for you and your family.
I wanted to help hit the "200 comments" mark.
ReplyDeleteIt is so great to hear from you, Tricia. I am still praying in Indiana.
South Jersey misses you too. Hope to see you at the boardwalk eating the yummy funnel cake real soon :)
ReplyDeleteTricia -- your courage, attitude and faith have truly been an inspiration. it's been a pleasure to pray for you and your family throughout this journey! May the JOY of the Lord continue to be your strength. He seems to have great things in store for you and your little Gwyneth -- and he is indeed being thoroughly glorified in your "weakness"...
ReplyDeleteTricia, I just wanted to tell you why I'm so interested in you as a person. It's because you have this unique ability to invite people to look at you and not feel awkward. You're inviting, and you have this way with your body language that says, "sure, this is me, I'm comfortable, you should be too."
ReplyDeleteI love your silly looks when you're being video taped by Nate. I've even started doing that when I video myself for my husband when he's away, and it's fun, so thank you and I hope you don't mind me copying you. It's a compliment for sure.
I'm super scared of people, and you just make the world seem okay. Thanks.
