White Rose Blooming (11 Weeks)

Every Tuesday while you're in the hospital, we'll take a picture with your pug so that everyone can see how much you are growing!

You are still a little bit bigger than 12 inches long, and you weigh a little more than 2lbs!!!

Your eleventh week was a good one. You stayed on the nasal cannula all week, and even spent a few hours breathing completely on your own. You love to eat, and you get a little cranky when you get hungry. You are becoming more and more alert, and you are even able to focus on objects for a few moments at a time. All you need to do is start gaining more weight.

Your mommy was able to visit with you nearly every day, and she is feeling better than she was last week. Your daddy was able to start Kangaroo Care with you again, and the old guy with the white hair who doesn't have a name yet held you for the first time! And, you celebrated your first Easter.

In the next week, we're praying that you'll really start to gain some weight, that your eyes will be problem free and that you'll be free of the nasal cannula forever!

We love you!

  2. Beautiful! Glory be to God! Praying for more growth and continued overall health improvement. Also continuing to pray for Tricia's new lungs, potential donor and family, caregivers, prayer warriors, and all who continue to travel great distances to be by your side. God's Love and Peace!

  3. She's come a long way and has a long way to go. BUT, our God is carrying her the entire way. What a wonderful tribute she is to Him, as you all are. You guys have given me hope that more and more people will become believers-you are touching so many with your story and your faith.

  9. I picked up on the line that Mommy is feeling better than last week! Now THAT is good news! Keep up the good work in that department Tricia! And, Gwyneth, you have stayed above 2 pounds for a while, now. You go, Girl...you are holding your own, and not going back...now it's time to pack on a few more ounces, and another half-inch or so, in length, before Daddy's 12-week report! Trusting, with you, that God's timing is always perfect!

  13. I am looking at these sweet pictures and remembering that our NICU nurses gave us so much of the "hospital" stuff when we came home. Take whatever they'll give you - my son used the bean bag shaper thing for a while after we got home as well as the swaddler, pacifiers and anything else we could get our hands on, legally of course!!

Thanks for the new pictures of your sweet girl. She is getting SOO big! Go Gwyn!!

  14. Perhaps you should hold a contest to name the old guy with white hair who doesn't have a name yet :).

  17. Nate,

I know you all are exhausted and running on fumes, so these updates are extra special. I'm sure these blog posts are going to be precious keepsakes for Gwyneth's baby album.

Prayers and hugs from El Paso,

  19. Praying with you for Gwyneth's breathing to grow stronger so she can do it on her own, for her eyes to stay healthy so she can read all of her daddy and mommy's blogs about how much she was wanted and prayed for and how thousands of people around the world prayed for her. Praying that she continues to chunk up and grow so that she and ehr mommy can leave the hospital around the same time!!!

  20. I have just started following your story and journey into fatherhood. I have a son with CF and he is 19 months. We also have a daughter that is a carrier of CF and she's three. I am pregnant with our third and last baby and i have my amnio next wednesday. I love reading about your story because I can relate to the CF part of it. My husband and I don't have the disease but carry the Delta 508 mutation. I was wondering if Gwen has CF and what were your chances of her inheriting it? I'm assuming that you're not a carrier. I wanted to say that your story has touched me and my family and we will continue to follow your journey and pray for the transplant and for baby to gain weight! I know the demands CF has on a person and I am inspired by Tricia and her strength to fight this disease! Always praying for you and baby! Brittney Lamb

  21. I know you said we are to pray for her growth and that she really has put that much weight on since birth... but these pictures cause me to believe differently. She used to be so much smaller than that puppy. Now she seems longer, wider, bigger etc.

I'm still praying for quantifiable growth but I want you to know... she sure looks bigger to me!! And praise God for it.

  22. oops, sorry. I meant to say, "That she really has'NT put that much weight on since birth"

    Silly me.

    Praying none the less.
