April Fools!

MWAAHAHAHAHA...

Good to see that everyone who figured it out already has been a good sport about it, and I hope nobody will be hurt or offended...I received the mini-pug in the mail yesterday as a gift and couldn't resist having some fun. (I promise this is the only joke I've made all day)

Here are the pics with the real pug. You can still see the 7 extra ounces!

Don't shoot me! You have to find some way to have fun after 3 months in the hospital.

Nate

  11. I thought she looked really big! She still looks great though!

    ReplyDelete
  12. She looks wonderful! I see the little purple pacifier in the picture - I have to warn you - those little soothie pacifiers are addicting! Our son (who was also a NICU baby) absolutely loves his and at 19 months isn't showing signs of letting it go.

Praying for you in North Dakota.

  13. I seriously looked at those pictures a ton of times trying to figure out why she looked so much bigger.. I thought maybe it was because she wasnt wrapped up and covered. LOL too funny

    ReplyDelete
  14. She still looks wonderful. I love checking back often and seeing the updates!!

  15. I hadn't figured it out, but I did think something was off. I just couldn't figure out what it was.

  19. Good one Nate!!! And yep, you are entitled. 3 months IS a long time to hang at the hospital!! She has still grown tho, and the fact that she's eating and breathing on her own are fantastic. Also, you can look at her face and see she is looking great! More mature, or as we used to say, more done(ya know-the bun in the oven being done) This was said in the most loving way and was not meant to sound callous or flippant.(as a nicu nurse yrs ago) Am praying for those lungs to arrive!

  20. I just totally hate April 1st!

Hoping April 2nd brings you many blessings!

  21. I knew it was another dog! My daughter went on and on at how massive she had gotten all of the sudden!!! THAT was a good one though!! I imagine you do have to find creative ways to amuse yourself, and at least you are doing it to your internet readers and not your lovely wife!

    ReplyDelete
  22. it's funny how a different stuffy can make such a big change.
she looks wonderful! (with either animal, lol)

  26. Tricia, I hope you are feeling a bit more comfortable tonight. I pray blessing of rest and comfort over you. You girly girl is growing so beautiful and it is exciting that you will soon be able to feed her.

Lord, Please bring this brave and Godly woman her lungs as soon as possible. I know You have a perfect time, it is so hard to wait sometimes. Thank you for blessing me with their example of patience and perserverence. Lord bless them for their obedience and faith. In Jesus' wonderful name, Amen

  27. hahaha, that was hilarious. I was so wondering if a few ounces really made that much of a difference. I keep up with your blog daily and for the first time I went back and looked at white rose blooming at 11 weeks to make sure there was a drastic change, haha. Way to go, I'm a huge april fools day fan!

    ReplyDelete
  28. OH MY GOSH! way too funny! I guess I thought that 7 oz was just a lot for a little one and was apparent next to the pug... so you fooled me! ;-) ha ha! Good one!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I was looking back at the other pictures just amazed at how BIG she has gotten! I fell for it hook, line and sinker but I am having a good laugh now:) She is still growing and looks great just not as BIG as I thought.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I am so gullible.....I should have noticed that! I even went back and looked at the older pictures! You got me!

    ReplyDelete
  31. That is so funny! I did a double take and even looked at the older posts you listed, BUT it never dawned on me that you had pulled a fast one on us. Well done, indeed very well done!

  36. I just love her little foot sticking out. When my preemie was in the NICU, he loved the little "womb" as they called it. Thanks again for sharing. I love the joke! Nice going!

    ReplyDelete
  37. HILARIOUS!! I had only seen your original post on bloglines and was coming here to say how amazed I was at Gwyneth's growth this week when I read this.

She really has done well and it won't be long before she's looking big next to big pug and baby pug.

Good one!! Thanks for the laugh and smile.

Continuing to pray often for your family.

    ReplyDelete
  38. That is so funny...I went back and looked at the very first pictures you posted and was AMAZED at today's picture - how small the puppy looked and how big Gwyneth looked...he he he. I hope you guys are having a great day - Sunshine

    ReplyDelete
  39. you are wrong!!! but we will allow this one since it is April 1st and you have spent so much time in the hospital!

Tricia, praying for you...having to deal with such a nut!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I feel silly, I saw the post and thought it looked a little off! I even went back to the 2 week post for comparison and againg, thought it looked off but didn't put two and two together!! Second joke I fell for today!

    Love her little outfit!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yeah but 7 ounces is still awesome!

    ReplyDelete

  43. I didn't notice. Probably because I like looking at how much Gwyneth has grown. She is so adorable that I think you should make look alike dolls. Just kidding, that wouldn't be as nice as the real thing.

So, I'm thinking that she might top 3 pounds by next Tuesday. Are we going to have a contest?

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm ashamed at how gullible I am. I totally thought she'd grown that much!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Heh -- I just checked in, so I didn't see the previous post, but it did crack me up =-D This is a good April Fools joke. I hate malicious AFs jokes. :)

I looove Gwyneth's little foot poking out, she's so cute! She's really starting to pudge out and pink up!

    ReplyDelete
  46. LOL...you're a riot. She's so beautiful. I love all the recent pics of her with her adorable chubby cheeks and super gorgeous eyes. Still praying.

  48. HAHA! She looks amazing! Does Duke have a volunteer program where people come in and hold the babies. The hospital in Toledo where my son was born at had that. I'm thinking I want to do that. Mines 7 months old and no longer cuddles...he squirms and turns and...you'll see! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  49. i thought man she did pack on the pound this last week... i went went back to all the weeks b4... but i sadly did not catch on... but i did do some mighty fine jokes on others

  50. She still looks like she's gotten so much bigger since last week! She (and God!) are amazing!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. You know, that was pretty funny. :) Real pug or fake pug, though, I can really see how much she is growing! What a cutie.

    ReplyDelete
  52. That was awesome... :)) however I was so focused on Gwyneths cute little outfit i didn't even notice. Sorry Daddy, it's a girl thing, but hey, great practical joke anyway :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Aw look how her little foot is sticking out the side of her little cuddle cradle. Adorable baby, Nate. Thanks for sharing your two lovely ladies.

  54. Yeah, I fell for that!!! You are hilarious--I even had another co-working look at it with me to see if I was losing it!!!! I have to admit---that was funny!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Bang! I didn't catch it… I was thinking that her head had really grown. :P Cute little pinkies peeking out! We prayed for you all tonight at our prayer time. Hope Tricia is feeling better tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Way to go Gwyneth! You had a great week! Keep up the good work! You are such a beautiful little girl! And you have quite the jokester of a daddy... which is a good thing! Way to have a little fun Nate!

  57. I was wondering! I looked back at the 2 week and just couldn't believe it! Happy April Fools to you too!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I actually went back to the week 2 picture to compare because it didn't look right.....

    ReplyDelete
  59. so funny! i looked the picture, and thought, that CAN'T be the same dog!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh good grief! I feel like a big doof now! LOL She STILL looks great, though! hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  61. LOL!! You got me!! That was a great April Fools! ;D

    ReplyDelete
  62. Well, you certainly got me. I too, went back and looked at her other pics. I was thinking, I am sure glad that 7 ozs doesn't look like that much on adults!!! Funny April Fool's.. She's a doll baby and glad to see her in regular clothes.
God Bless and hope Tricia is doing better tonight. Praying for her new lungs SOON!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. BLAH!!!! I WAS wondering! Good joke...though you need to get out more. Well you can...poor Tricia...she has no limited freedom like that...

    ReplyDelete
  64. I love that she is getting chubby little cheeks! :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. HA, you totally had me too!!! Thanks for the laugh:)

    ReplyDelete
  66. You COMPLETELY fooled me. I was so amazed, I couldn't believe she'd changed THAT much, and I wasn't even thinking about the day. She's beautiful in any case. Happy birthday to you, and hope that Tricia is feeling better now that the pneumothorax has been addressed. Prayers continuing.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  72. LOL I flipped back and forth between the earlier weeks and now thinking that the difference was AMAZING. Never did think there might have been a bait and switch on us! =) Good one for April Fools!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Your April fools joke has inspired me to comment for the first time, although I've been reading for a while. I thought that pug looked awfully small this week- good joke!

    ReplyDelete
  74. That was a gooder... I was thinking "hmmm wow, what a difference" ... Your good!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Seriously..... You are hilarious. You are the only one that got me to. My brother usually gets me every year ad this year he called early in the morning and I picked up the phone and said I am not falling for it.... Then I had a friend text me that she just got engaged I immediately replied back with a ha ha april fools.

Then When I read the post I was like wow she is getting huge! You definitely got me. I have a stuffed pug like that too. I didn't know they came in sizes. I myself am a mom of 2 pugs :) Have a great night and sleep tight the 3 of you are in my prayers!

    ReplyDelete
  76. ahhhh, i hate I fell for that the first time! Giggle!

She still looks great though! and growing!

    ReplyDelete
  77. That was the highlight of my day! haha!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. You are too funny! :)
    Thanks for the laugh.
    You definitely got me.

    Blessings!

    ReplyDelete
  79. LOL!! I totally bought that the pictures below were of the "real pug". I could hardly believe how small the pug was looking....Good one!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Nate you got me... your to funny. That is what I get for all the April Fool's jokes I pulled on my 6 year old granddaughter yesterday. :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. Oh that's just not FAIR! I was all excited, and thought "wow, that's the first time I think she's been bigger than the pug!!" I certainly didn't think you'd do that, and I've been deflecting April Fool's Day jokes with ease all day. Good job :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. You can tell I'm a NICU nurse, I didn't even pay attention to the pug, I just noticed how much more room she took up in the Snuggli! Way to go Gwyneth! (I like the purple outfit!)

    ReplyDelete
  83. That's funny! I fell for that HOOK, LINE, and SINKER!!! I was showing my husband last night the difference between her 2 week and 12 week pictures - we were SHOCKED.... GEE.... you're FUNNY!

    ReplyDelete
  84. You totally got me I must have been off my game but I was like Wow Gwyneths getting HUGE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. You are very silly. :) And happy belated birthday -- no foolin'.

    ReplyDelete
  86. yup, I fell for it... I sat there and thought.. "well, I know half a pound is a huge amount when it's 1/5 you body weight.. I just didn't expect it to look like THAT much."
    sheesh.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Thanks for the weekly comparison pics. It is so good to see her putting on some weight. IS she wearing real baby clothes? Doll clothes? She looks like she has an "outfit" on. Is that her mama's influence- dressing her up for her pictures?

    laurie r

    ReplyDelete
  88. I fell for it, since you seem like such a trustworthy guy!!!!

But I am most happy that you have your sense of humor intact, that is so helpful. Yes, I still see the extra 7 oz!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Okay...that's better! Haha :-) It's okay, she's still putting the pug to shame. She would be much longer than the pug if she would stretch those silly little legs out. It's so funny how babies keep them tucked up to their tummy like little frogs!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Sooo funny. I fell for it! I was amazed & even showed my husband how much she had grown. HA!!!!
Don't apologize for trying to lighten things up! :)
In the "real" picture, though, I just love seeing Gwyneth's little foot sticking out. So sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  91. You are TOO FUNNY :) I couldn't stop giggling :)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Nate- She still looks big despite the pug growing to his normal size. Your sense of humor came through today. No offense taken!!!!

    Love, The Hagers in Michigan

    ReplyDelete
  93. Who could ever complain about extra pictures of that sweet baby! :) I'll take them joke or not! That was a good one!!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Excellent joke! My kind of humor. You got me good. I thought, WOW! She has put on some weight. I even went back and looked at the pug archives to compare. Never apologize for a good clean joke. We all need it. Love and many, many prayers!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Wow, you got me going crazy.. I kept scolling back to previous weeks and thinking wow that dog looks so small now. How can a baby grow that much in a week? But I figured it had to be true because you said it... well... well.... Mr. Jokester!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Nate ill say it again your just a funny guy:) A bit twisted but we DO understand. The funny thing was I never look at the pug cause your daughter is so gosh darn cute that I did not notice the difference. Seeing as I am in a home with 3 girls it always amazes me when I measure one of there baby dolls to find out that Gwyen is even smaller!

    Blessings and HB to you!
We will find a way to honnor your birthday with todaay:)

    ReplyDelete
  98. Good job Nate. You totally got me. I was just thinking "I didn't realize just how small Gwyneth was originally..." The joke was on me. Happy April Fools Day!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Yeah! 7 ounces! It is nice to see that you and Tricia are able to change diapers and do baths...it has to feel good to participate in her care! Any little bit of normal! Now if we can just get those lungs! I am still praying for the right set!

    ReplyDelete
  100. HA! I knew something didn't seem quite right...

    You are hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  101. HA! I love it! I was looking at the one with the tiny pug and thinking, "Could she really have gained that much weight?!" After having a preemie son, I knew something was up! =) We also wanted to let you know that we are really praying for Tricia and her problem with the pneumothorax. Our daughter Lydia (4 year old with heart defects) has had chest tubes many times and when I told her Tricia had to get one she said, "Awww...I feel so bad for her!" After Lydia's last open heart she had a complication called a chylothorax and she had to have three tubes in for a while. So, yeah, she knows!

We are praying for you guys and thanks for not letting the hospital get in the way of a little humor. =0) You have to in order to keep your sanity!

    ReplyDelete
  102. That cracked me up! I was looking at the pug going "wow, she's really growing fast! that pug is looking tiny!!!" She's just so cute that I went with it!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I have to say, I fell for it!!!! I kept looking back at the old pics thinking, Man has she grown lately!! Good prank Nate, I think you got all of us!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Thanks for clarifying- I thought I was going nuts OR you'd been feeding Gwyneth spinach in that bottle!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Good one Nate! Since I was a day late I wasn't even thinking April Fools. I thought that pug looked so small.

    ReplyDelete
  106. You got me! I even showed my husband...look at 2 weeks and look now! Wow, she looked big!

That was the only joke I fell for all day!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Nice one! :) I actually went back and compared it to week two, and I thought - WOW! She's grown ALOT! :) She still looks GREAT!

    ReplyDelete
  108. That looks a little more normal! But you are right, you can still tell the weight gain just since last week. I can't wait until that pug looks tiny!

    ReplyDelete
  109. It was late and I was totally impressed with her weight gain!
You are to funny! You and your
girls are in my prayers often!!!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I thought it look alot off. Haha. You are much nicer than my husband. You can read what he did on my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Nate,
You need to get out a little more.
That's not a "real" pug either.

    Go play with Meka.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Well no wonder she looked like she had grown!!!!! Crazy guy! I love the pics with the real pug- how her little legs are all curled up in her bed...too cute. I bet she's going to be a snuggler once she gets out of the hospital...cause they've kept her good and tight in that bed since she's been born! TOO CUTE!!!!!!

    Still praying for lungs!!!!!!!

    Much love,
    Annie- Nashville

    ReplyDelete
  113. That wasn't nice :-) Good one!!!

    ReplyDelete
  114. I just had a thought. Wonder whether you can apply for the Guiness Book of World Records, as having fooled the largest number of people, on April Fool's Day? Worth a try. Keep your humor. Sometimes, that is all it takes to deal with the ups and downs of life.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I totally fell for that one! I was amazed at how remarkably large she was... I even went back and looked at week 2 for comparison... guess I should have looked at last weeks! Good times and I love to see that you still have your sense of humor!

    ReplyDelete
  116. That was rotten!
    Boy was it good,
    but still rotten!
    :0)

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yup, you got me. I had to go back to her earlier pix because I didn't believe my eyes...

    ReplyDelete
  118. Hee Hee....I am STILL giggling about this this morning! That was a really good one. Happy Birthday to you, and you are right--you CAN still see the extra 7 oz!

Keep up the good work Gwyneth!
    Devin in Illinois

    ReplyDelete
  119. That was great Nate. I don't blame you for wanting a little bit of fun. Can't wait until you all are able to get out of the hospital and get some fresh air as a family. :)

    ReplyDelete
  120. Okay, I fell for it!!! But she still looks big! And the toes sticking out just kill me!!

    ReplyDelete
  121. That's the only April Fool's joke I fell for this year! Errrrrrrr!

    ReplyDelete
  122. I feel like an idiot... good one, though. :-) My husband and I are both teachers, and our students wanted me to send one of them to his room and tell him I was in labor (I am due today). I just could not do it... it was almost mean!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Okay - you got me...I was totally fooled!

    ReplyDelete
  124. I totally didn't even notice that the pug got amazingly smaller. ;-) But even so... with the original pug, she is still growing a ton!

    ReplyDelete
  125. you're funny. that was great, by the way! and yes, even with the original pug she is clearly growing! Happy birthday, by the way. :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. AHHAA! I thought that pug looked tiny!! LOL Gwyneth still looks much bigger! praying, jen in al

    ReplyDelete
  127. Dang, I fell for it hoke, line and sinker!!!! Pretty good one! Glad to see she really HAS grown.

    ReplyDelete
  128. wish I could learn spell-check before I hit the submit button

    ReplyDelete
  129. She looks amazing! Please send pics of her drinking from the bottle if you get a chance... You can really tell the difference of the extra 7 ozs! KEEP IT UP GWYNETH!

    ReplyDelete

  131. I totally fell for your joke. When I saw the new pics I thought man she's grown a bunch! She's still precious as ever and still growing!
Way to go on the April Fool's joke!

    ReplyDelete
  132. I was looking at past weeks' photos and the first photos you posted for Tuesday.... I was comparing the dogs and just couldn't quite wrap my head around it. Never once thought about it being April Fools' Day. I seriously compared photos for at least 30 minutes, trying to figure out if it was the same dog, was the angle different? were my eyes tricking me? was the pad beneath Gwyneth a different size? Seriously.

Thank goodness I'm not going crazy.

    You certainly got me.

    ReplyDelete
  133. That is absolutely hysterical!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  134. Gwyneth still looks BIG!!! She seems to have really grown in just the past week or 2.
She looks so sweet all nestled in.
Little girls are just the best!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Ok, you got me here! I just thought how great she was looking and did not give it a second thought! Way to pull our legs!

    ReplyDelete
  136. That was good, I have to admit. Very clever. I am glad I'm not crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  137. She looks as though she is growing! She is beautiful and you are doing a wonderful job of documenting everything!

    ReplyDelete
  138. You had me goin for a second there! That's hilarious! I was thinkin' Man, she has really gotten big!
    LOL :D

    ReplyDelete
  139. I didn't even catch it. But she is getting bigger with every picture you post. :) Praying for her to get bigger and start taking the bottle full time!

  140. That is so funny!!! You're the second person that got me...the first was my sister-in-law of 16 month old triplets announced on her blog that she was pregnant again! ;-) I must be gullible!

  149. I missed a few days so I actually read from the top down, first off I am super excited and pray that all is going well for Tricia!!! So then I get to the *real* pug pictures and knew that if I wanted a good laugh for the day to go on and read the april fools day post, absolutely hilarious, good one!!!!

  150. That is a good one...and it is even funnier, because my son, who is 8 and an avid webkinz collector, was looking at Gwenyth's pics the other day and asked me if the pug was a lil'kinz webkin or a regular sized one. I said I didn't know, that I would ask you. I still didn't get the joke, though--pretty dense.

I am praying for Tricia tonight in TN, that God's presence will be so real in that OR, and in the waiting room with all of you. Happy Birthday! and Happy new breath of life day to Tricia!
