For many of you, this week marks one year since you began reading our story! Thanks for sticking around through the good the bad and the ugly! I definitely have the best blog readers in the whole world!
Below is a graph that shows the number of hits the blog received from December 8, 2007 to January 8, 2008...up until the first of the year, it was around 150/day and jumped to 12,457 by January 8.
I'd love to hear about how you came to the blog and why you've stuck around for so long!

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 334 of 334I came to your site through your cousin Rebekah, I work with her here in FL and I had just come back to work from maternity leave when Tricia went into the hospital and I have been following your blog ever since. I hope you all have a great 1st birthday with Gwyneth.
I joined the crowd on 1/1/2008 looking to find an article on a friend whose daughter has CF that had been in our local paper, and as it happens, we have a couple of friends in common :>)
Why I stayed... because you'd have to be made of stone not to be thoroughly engaged by your compelling story!! :>)
I found your blog through your sister Janet's blog not quite a year ago. Have checked in very frequently since then and yes I admit somedays it just stayed there and I kept hitting refresh!
I heard about your blog from a thread on a rubber stamping website, if I remember right the title of the thread said something like "If you want to read an amazing story that will change your life . . " So when I came upon your blog I discovered that you had just given birth to a teenie tiny baby that was supposed to bake as long as the pregnancy I was carrying. My son James was born 4/20/08. I was amazed at God's provisions for your family, blessed by your measure of faith, and felt a special connection with your daughter as I imagined what my son was looking like in utero. I haven't been to the Outer Banks in a while, but next time I visit I want to stop by your church and hopefully Gwenyth and James can meet. Bleesings to your family.
Someone from a parenting board shared the link, they are from your town or somewhere in the OBX. They were saying your family could really use some prayers, so I stuck around and continue to pray for you all. Thanks for sharing!
I saw a link on another blog and clicked. Your story touched my heart, but your faith in God keeps me reading. I'm truly inspired by your faith, your true belief in God's will and your trust in the power of prayer.
I found your blog through a friend/blogger of mine. She started reading it and requested prayer for you and your family in our SS class. After that, I have read faithfully and commented every once in a while.
What a blessed year you guys had. I know 2009 is going to be great!!
I found you through a scrapbook blog that I came across asking for prayers. I have been coming by daily since. Your story is inspiring and riveting. Your family proves that God's Grace is here. Your family has touched so many and your little girl is a delight.
I have said many prayers for your family, have shed tears of fear and then joy. I am so appreciative of your willingness to share your story that has touched my heart.
God Bless!
I saw a prayer request on a message board just before your daughter was born. I have been reading since.
I followed a link, loved the blog, and what you offer, and how great of a family you have, still read because of those same reasons. Keep up the good work!
I found your site on another blogger friend's blog. She was asking her readers to pray for Gwyneth Rose and Tricia. I read the her little blip about you, went to your blog, and was so emotionally touched. I have been a prayer warrior for your girls since day one. I have prayed countless prayers for both of them, and am so honored that I have had the opportunity to pray for you, and read about both Tricia and Gwyneth's progress. I've stuck around because your story still amazes me, and it was a life changing experience to watch a miracle in progress! And, to be part of the team of people praying for the miracle in progress. I'll probably follow you until Gwyneth is old and gray! :o) Your family is an inspiration, and a true testimony to how great our God really is! Thank you for continuing to share your lives with us. Watching your girls has brought many smiles and tears, heartache and happiness, and I can't wait to read more! I hope you have a wonderful New Year in your new house. I'm so excited for you. God bless you, Nate, Tricia, and sweet Gwyneth Rose!!
Much Much Love
I can't even remember when or why I started reading, but I was hooked immediately. I think one of the things that keeps me coming back is the incredible love that you have for your family. I love being able to watch your family through your eyes- eyes of unconditional and completely devoted love. I am looking forward to reading all of the amazing things that God has planned for you all this year!
I came to the site because someone who is related to you goes to my church in Forest, VA. I heard about your story through prayer one Sunday morning before service. I looked you up read a few entries and have been "checking in" on you guys everyday since. You're families love for God and how you turn to Him in every circumstance is totally inspiring. I think of you often and talk to God a lot about you, Tricia, and Gwyneth. Thanks for being so open and transparent and I hope this year brings with it many more of God's blessings.
I found your site through another blog, probably a Vietnam adoption blog. I have stayed because of your testament to faith in God. You have taught me many things. I am a nurse who has worked with CF patients in the past and will again in the very near future. I wanted to see the rest of the story, not just the bedside nurse's perspective. Thank you for sharing! Besides, who doesn't love a good miracle!
We were at Duke 13 hours from our home with out then 6 month old and my husband Randy as having a stem cell transplant. We heard of your blog through being down there. We continue to read everyday. Although Randy has fallen very weak and unable to do much on his computer. I am so happy for you both and continue to add you all to our prayers.
SMILE
Kate
A friend invited me to one of your groups on Facebook, and I clicked on the link on there to your website. I was immediately hooked, and have been checking for updates at least once a day since then! It's been so amazing to read about the awesome things that God is doing. Your story is wonderful. God is great, and your obvious faith in Him is a continual blessing.
I came here from a forum for parents of children with liver disease (many of whom have had transplants). I'm also a 2x preemie mom. So, the combination of preemie & transplant made me feel close to your family.
I stick around to send prayers & support if possible. Your faith is a true inspiration.
My sister's blog had a link to your blog asking for prayer for Tricia and your micro-preemie. I was curious and popped over to learn about your family and have been coming back daily ever since. I've learned alot about CF, preemies, and dedication to those you love.
Thanks for what you've taught me.
I found you through the March of Dimes Share Your Story site where you had posted a discussion back in January of last year just after Gwyneth was born. I've kept up with you ever since and have several blogger/church friends who have also been keeping up and praying.
I'm an avid reader of your blog who has no idea how I found you. I happened to stumble upon your blog somehow about the time that Tricia was hospitalized right before Gwyneth's birth and I could not go a day without knowing how your girls were doing.
You guys have the best outlook on life, always giving praise to the One who is ultimately in charge. Yours is the first blog I check in the morning and the last at night. Here's to a less eventful, but equally blessed 2009!
Oh my! It really has been a year. A friend called me to request prayer for your family. She had seen it on Chris Thomlin's website.
I have adopted several children that spent time in the NICU and PICU, so your emotions and feelings were very familiar and I could relate. Also my hubbie is a SBC pastor, so another connection.
Your blog on adoption and the family adopting even though it did not seem sensible or logical was also partially responsible for our new son. We were considering a 4 y/o boy with CP, just one day younger then our youngest child. I was suggesting to God that He might ask elsewhere, since I am getting old and this will be number 11. But anyway.....'Falling in love again, never wanted to. What am I to do? I can't help it.'
I linked to your blog from someone elses (can't remember who....guilty....I'm a blog hopper). After I read it the first time I was hooked because I am a mother (at the time to a 2 yr old and a 4 mo old) and wanted SO badly for Tricia to feel all of the ups and downs of motherhood. I also LOVED to read each day and literally "see" how God was answering my prayers for you and your sweet family. God bless you guys in 2009 (He sure did in 2008 and us readers as well by seeing God do some really cool things in your lives...thanks for letting us peek in on your life)!!!! BTW STILL reading daily and probably will until you stop blogging (which I hope is never or at least until Gwyneth finishes High School)!!
I came because of a pug! I don't remember which one posted a prayer request but a pug family did. I stayed because I believe in the power of collective prayer. Because people prayed for me, I became a mother - and now have raised 5 children! Clearly your story is a great example of faith and prayer! I am honored to be one of your prayer team!
My scrapbooking club turned me on to your blog. (Thanks Tom, Burnie, Steve and Andy.)
I found your blog little more than a year ago after I just happened to click on someone else's blog from a comment left about you and Tricia's situation (with the link to your blog). I took some time reading back over your story and caught up to where Tricia was in the hospital but still just trying to keep things even keeled. As the days went on and it became evident that Gwyneth's birth was necessary, though so early, I just could not help but to keep checking back regularly and adding your family to my nightly prayers. I kept up reading your blog because although we don't know each other, I am interested in how you all are doing and hoping for the best for all 3 of you. I also love your sentiment, attitude and photos!
I voiced my need to be an organ donor to my family last Easter; I always wanted to be one but after reading your blog realized that if I did not actually tell someone about my feelings then I would not get the chance to give someone a second chance at life if/when I die.
Happy New Year to all of you and wishing you, Tricia and Gywneth all the best!
Nate,
I have no idea how I got to your site. One of those where I hit a site, hit another site, and a hundred sites later I end up on one that is just amazing. I share the faith, and I know Jesus Christ to be my personal Savior and Lord. I love following your story, I bookmarked you, spread the word, and I pray for your family every time I stop by. Y'all are AMAZING. Please keep it up!! Thanks for sharing your life with us.

For the record, I've never commented before- there are always so many comments I guess I just figured mine might get lost along the way. However, I guess there is no time like the present!
I saw a link to your Blog on someone else's Blog, can't remember who. I have a dear friend with a 16 year old son who suffers with CF. I have known them since he was 8 years old. Since my husband and I are Children's Pastor's at our church, he has been in our care many times over the years at church camps and lock-in's, etc. I have been the one responsible to give him his breathing treatments; enzymes before every meal and snack, etc and etc. We have visited him in the hospital more times than I can count, and I have watched and witnessed his pain, as well as felt the pain of his parents. I have spent many an hour on my knees in prayer for them and for Tim's healing. I have cried out to God in times of despair. And I'm only a family friend. I could not imagine all that you've been through being Trisha's constant- the love of her life- her provider and soul mate. I know that she has given so much to you as well. I was just so intrigued with your situation. And believe me, even though I've never commented before tonight- I have spent many hours in prayer for your family.
Also, I have lost 4 babies through miscarriage. When I first learned of your Blog, my heart went out to Trisha- fighting for her life as well as the life of your beautiful daughter.
The whole story is absolutely a miracle. You guys are incredibly awesome and an inspiration to us all. I always look forward to seeing new posts. I will be a faithful reader for quite some time! :)
God Bless you and your precious family!

I have been a fan of Jessica Claire's Photography and when she posted the pictures she did of you and your lovely wife I hopped over and have been hooked ever since.
Your family continues to amaze me, and your wife and daughter are such beautiful spirits!!
I found your blog when another family posted a prayer request when your daughter was born. I remember seeing her picture...she was so very tiny...and praying for her and for Trisha. I stayed to follow your journey and continue to pray for your family and now, I follow along because it's nice to see the living reminders that God is still in the miracle buisness.
I still pray for your family as you share your requests and I look forward to watching Gwyneth grow.
I don't know how I found your blog but your story is compelling and inspiring. I'm praying hard for you and so happy that you've had such a good year. I've had a good year too...gave birth to my 4th baby and my 2nd child completed chemotherapy for leukemia and has been in remission for 3 years 4 months now. Life is good.
I found your blog through another blogger who was stating that she had found your story through a friend's blog. Whenever she would get online to post an update on her family, she would first check on your blog to see how your family was, and find that she had nothing to say after that. Our life trials seem so trivial compared to what He takes other people through. I was ABSOLUTELY addicted after that. I don't think I did anything online but catch up on your story over the next few days. (I found the blog around Jan 21st)
I stay because of the testimony that you have through everything that God has brought your family through, and I am genuinely interested in how Tricia, Gwyneth, and yourself are doing. I feel that you are friends even though we will most likely never meet this side of heaven.
The faith that your family displays is inspiring. I can only hope that if the Lord would choose to walk me through a trial (as He has you) that I can remain faithful to HIM as you have.
May God RICHLY BLESS you and 'your girls' in 2009.
~Jaime (in Indiana)
Found you guys through Jordan and Patience. We go to C3 together. Stayed because by praying for you, I feel like I know you and you are part of my life! Prayer does that to people! Thanks for sharing so much of your life!
My sister-in-law, Jennifer, knows a good friend of your sister-in-law, Janet. She told me about your family around holidays last year. I've been hooked ever since. I pray for you and your family on a regular basis. Your testimony of God's goodness and strength have encouraged me always. I am so blessed to have been able to follow your story and watch God work. He is SO good! Thanks for being so transparent and for sharing the things that are on your heart in a way that honors God. Your family is an inspiration.
I am a student at LU and first heard of your blog from Meredith Andrews... I have been following for over a year now. I still check my computer everyday for updates. I feel as if I know yall.
Continue to cling to HIS strength!
Praying always!!!
Lindsey
Not sure how exactly I found you... through someone's blog probably. I was instantly drawn to your story because I too had preemie babies. I looked at your pictures of Gwyneth and was reminded of our days in the NICU. I have been one of your "groupies" since Jan 2008. I guess what has made me stick around is the honestly and openness with which you share your struggles and victories. I found that often things I had thought, you voiced. It made me feel that I wasn't alone in my emotions and that voicing them was okay with God. Your constant testimony of God's faithfulness and goodness has always resounded with my spirit. Because of your and Tricia's story, my ideas of organ donation have been radically changed, and it has allowed me to share with others the importance of organ donation as well.
I thank God for you and your girls. What an awesome Father we serve!!
I came upon your blog through a friend's suggestion. We both knew of a great guy who battled with Cystic Fibrosis and she thought I would enjoy your blog. Boy was she right! I have shed many tears reading your story and remembering George, my first love! He had a double lung transplant with live donors and only lived a short 10 1/2 to 11 months with them. He was happy to not be so sick all the time for that brief moment but GOD decided that HE needed him more than we did! May GOD continue to bless you and your entire family in 2009 more than HE blessed you last year!
I came to the blog through your father's blog. How I happened upon his I do not know. I started reading about the time you and Trish announced that she was expecting.
I've been around so long that I remember a post, from last December I think, when you were excited about 300 plus hits - highest before that was 80 something.
This 13th generation Tar Heel raised "off" as my friend Rodney Kemp says about those raised away from Carteret County and Down East has said lots of prayers and experienced lots of joy watching your girls blossom.
God bless.

I don't even remember where I discovered you guys, but it was linked from another blog for sure. I'm pretty sure I was reading prior to January 2008. I'm a blog junkie, so I kept on following. Over the summer, my cousin's twin nephews were born at 23w5d. The first passed at 13 hours, and last week, the other boy finally got to go home with his parents.
I heard of this blog from an online friend prior to Gwyneth's birth. She had a brother with CF who had passed away. Checking in since.
I was just looking at your google cluster map and thinking how very cool it is to see people from so many different countries have been on your blog.
WOW one year! What an amazing God we serve. I came to your blog through different links from multiple people. It seemed like everyone was linking to your blog for prayer. I think it was toward the end of Jan when there was so much going on with both girls. Some days you even updated several times a day. I didn't realize that your blog was only a few months old. Then I started reading some of the comments and some of your prayer requests you would like to realized how many other people had amazing testimonies sharing of God's grace. I had no idea there was such a huge blogging community who wanted to give God the glory. Your blog was a great place for connection. And your family was/is such inspiration to SHARE your own testimoney in what God is doing in our life on a daily basis. Not just once upon a time.
Happy Blogiversary!
A good friend of mine is an avid reader and told me about your page. Curiosity brought me to the page and I have been back nearly every day since!
Jennisa (at mysweetlittlefamily.blogspot), a blog designer and childhood friend of MckMama's posted about your story and I quickly became hooked. I went back to the beginning of your story and got caught up. I haven't missed a post since.
With Stellan's recent hospitalization his mom and I were talking about how we know some of the medical terminology because of Gwyneth and the miracle that she is.
Not sure when, maybe about 9 months or so ago, my friend sent me a link and told me to take a look. I was hooked because 1. I love to see the hand of God and you are the poster child for that! 2. I love to pray for people...it's a gift the Lord gives us. 3. your baby was so stinkin cute and I wanted to watch her grow up! 4. I wanted to be part of a miracle.
I love to tell your story to people when the door opens. I feel silly mentioning that I know you only from your blog because it seems so sterile but I gave your family my heart months ago when I gave YOU over to the Throne of Grace in prayer. I still do! I have cried tears of joy with you and tears of sadness and disbelief with you and laughed so much, too. And I rejoice with you now at how different life is today for you from a year ago. Our God is good and you are so great at reminding everyone of that and of His perfect ways.
Someone on another message board I'm on posted a link to your blog and wanting to share your touching story. I started reading just as Gwenyth was getting ready to come home from the hospital - my 2nd son was due to be born just about that time, and I felt a special connection.
I added your blog to my Google Reader and love to read your updates and see the pictures of your amazing life.
I came via a meme! Seriously.... you googled "(your first name) loves" or "wants" (there were to versions going round). And that led me to Cathy's site (http://annabelgrace.blogspot.com/), and she linked to yours as Gwyneth, back then, was so frail and tiny and still in the ICU.... I still believe it was God's leading, mind you....
I found your blog from a post someone made on the Canadian Today's Parent forums.
I've stayed for many reasons...
I love your writing.
I love your pictures.
My son was a preemie with some health issues early on.
I was not a person of faith or God, but I am learning everyday about all of that through you and your family.
Came from a recommendation from a friend. Stayed because you are both so encouraging to us all and I pray for you. (I have to say also to see that precious little baby of yours get bigger too!! What an amazing God we serve!!)
I found your blog through Jordan Leino's blog. I belive it was from this post: http://babyleino.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
A friend of mine goes to C3 and had told me about their blog so I was reading that one religiously and of course had to check yours our when they posted it. RIP baby Isaac!
I came to the site through Catherine's Chatter. stayed cause you are a good writer. And your girlie is awful cute!
Hi Nathan and Tricia,
I found your blog on January 7th, 2008, from a post made to Cystic-L, a CF discussion group that I have been with for 11 years. The poster said: "I don't know them personally, although they are friends of one of my mother's friends." The discussion list info for Cystic-L can be found at:
http://www.cystic-l.com/
I saw a note on Cystic-L requesting prayer for Tricia. (this was just maybe a week before they took her back and ended up delivering Gwyneth) I have been a faithful follower ever since.
One primary reason is
1) I, too, have CF
2) I had a birth story nightmare in 2004 and could identify very strongly with what you were going through at that moment.
3) My son, born at 35 weeks, has alot on his plate (we did early intervention/First Steps and still do OT/PT/Speech for his development) He's awesome and is doing well.
4) It was remarkable to me the faith, family support, and strength you found in God in these circumstances. (It seemed like, in my world, everybody was falling apart and had been since this happened to us...)
5) I also enjoy your humor, particular choice of music, and sheer charm. lol
6) Gwyneth is a doll and we fell in love with watching her grow and thrive.
7) So is Tricia. We are so in her corner. It makes me readjust my attitudes when I get frustrated/down with my CF challenges/taking care of my son's needs, and try to balance it all.
8) Your ok, too. lol Wonderful photography gift, you have, too.
9) OH, and we fell in love with Andy. He' s hilarious. Your dad is, too. You're all nuts, really.
Keep it up!
I actually only found your site a few months ago. I found the link off of MckMamma's website...I can't remember if she had posted something about you or if I was just clicking through the links. Your family has drawn me in and now I'm hooked:)
A friend of mine brought your blog to my attention in Sunday school. We all have prayed through each blog posting. It is great to see prayer, faith and God in action! God Bless you all!!
I saw a link at Larochee Kid (Bev) whose granddaughter has CF. What an inspirartion you've been to many, myself included. Thanks. (From Ont. Canada where it's snowing and blowing right now!)
Can't remember how I stumbled across it, but I sure am glad that I did, you have inspired me in more ways than you can imagine, your devotion to your family, your creative writing, your amazing photography and just the presence that you have in the computer, is amazing.
Happy B'day to your darling daughter.
Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa
I don't remember exactly how I found your blog but I have been with you for over a year now. My husband and I were in the process of moving from Memphis to Louisville for his job. He had moved four months ahead of me while I waited with our children in Memphis for our home to sell. It was a long and difficult four months.
I live with chronic illness and had to manage two young children, doctor's visits, infusion schedules, sleepless breathless nights, house showings, and looking for a new home all on my own. Your blog gave me a place to escape, someone else to think about, someone else to pray for instead of wallowing in my own self pity and misery. I still pray for you and praise God for the miracles He has worked in your lives.
Much like you, I am just now able to look back at the past year and take a deep breath and try to process it all. That must be God's way of protecting us from overload in the middle of crisis!
I came to your blog from another friend's blog. I have continued to follow your blog as I had a cousin with CF as a child and feel so full of hope for all families who have been touched by CF when I read your story!
Came to this site after reading about you on Wren Eccles site.. Stayed because I believe God can knit community in all sorts of fasions (blogs included) and the raw and real way you post is encouraging and transparent which is what I believe God would like us all to be. Also, my sister-in-law has CF and was working out some very rough times and in the hospital frequently over the last year. Your site was both encouraging and inspiring for her as she has asked the questions of "will I ever have children?" "Would anyone ever marry me knowing I have CF?" Your love for your wife, and your wife's tenacity, spirit, and trust in God for her miricle baby were all so encouraging to all of us. Thank you.
Much Love.

A non-CF blogging friend of mine told me about it. Since my CF daughter was only 2 at the time, it was really hard for me to read at first. But I kept reading because I knew I had to. As a Christian, I wanted to intercede on your (plural) behalf, and as a mother of a CFer I had to practice getting out of my denial. I've grown a great deal this year because of it. Thank you.
One of my friends linked your blog. She knows you indirectly through another friend. I started visiting your blog last spring, and kept coming back to read about Tricia and Gwyneth's progress. We had a preemie also, who is now a healthy 8 year old, so I could relate to your story. I have prayed for you and your family many times, and am so happy to see you doing so well.
Through a post on Second Wind (A lung transplant support group) & stayed because my daughter had a double lung TX & we have been blessed to watch your family...
Came via Real Learning blog ( ebeth.typepad.com ). Stayed because of 1. medical interest, peds RN who has taken care of many NICU grads, interest in CF 2. geography-we're in Central Virginia and travel through parts of NC regularly 3. most of all, human interest, a fine example of love and the power of prayer It is a privilege to come along for the ride with you.
Also-love the photography!
I think I found you through another blog I read but I stayed because I felt a need to know what happened. The human spirit and act of preserverance are phenomenal and I wanted to be a active listener/viewer in your story!
I found out about your blog from a preemie parents board I'm a part of. Stuck around because you've managed to keep me interested.
My daughter has a friend who has a CF child. Through her concern for that child, my Amy began to search the internet for information and came across your blog. She shared it with me and we were right there "with you" through baby's birth, Tricia's double-lung transplant, the scare this fall, the hunt for a house, and your very special first Christmas with precious Gwyneth. Happy New Year to you and yours with God's best blessings yet to come which I will enjoy following for as long as you care to post. Please know that your faith in our Lord has been used to increase my faith as well. With love and prayers from a Granny in Pensacola, FL......

Hi Nate!,
I discovered your blog from cysticfibrosis.com back around the birth of Gwenyth and Tricia's transplant. Being a 26 yr old engaged CFer from NJ, Tricia's story, your faith, and your relationships are truly an inspiration!
Keep up the blogging and my thoughts and prayers continue to be with you!
Kris
My husband teaches with your cousin Matt, at Bensalem High School. Matt had asked us, seems like longer than a year ago, to pray for you and your family. I've been reading your blog daily, ever since! God is GOOD! All the time...GOD IS GOOD!
Hi Nate! I started reading your blog after someone on the Triplet Connection talked about your story and asked for prayer. I´ve stayed because I find you and Tricia an inspiration in your walk with God, and I´ve been so encouraged to see God´s powerful hand working in your lives. May He continue to bless and keep you in this new year.

I found your blog through Cristi, my bestfriend, who also commented on this post. Her grandbaby was born Jan. 21st weighing 2# 2oz. and it has been amazing watching hers and yours progress. I also follow because of your obvious love and devotion to Tricia. My sister married a man 2 years after being diagnosed 9 years ago with MS. It is now rapidly progressing and I can only hope and pray her husband remains as faithful to her as you are to your wife. And for a cure for these diseases. Also, you'll be glad to know I have been a registered organ donor for years now. I did it before it was popular and my grandma about stoked out when she found out. :) I love the idea of helping someone like Tricia live long enough to see their children grow up. I've been blessed in that area, my youngest is almost 17. I love your blog. Your family's story is a blessing and an inspiration to all who read it. God bless you and Happy New Year!!
I have no idea how I stumbled onto your blog but I have faithfully checked it and prayed for you since December 2007. During a time in my life that was dark and painful, hearing about your story blessed me to tears so many times. Your faith in Jesus inspired me and your choice to embrace life amazed me. Thank you.
I cant remember exactly how I found your blog. I have a 5 year old son with cf. I guess that is why my attention was first drawn to your blog. Once I started reading I couldn't possibly quit. So that is why I am still a follower of your blog. You, your amazing wife, and daughter are quite and inspiration to us all. I have learned to never give up even when things look bad. Thank you for being open and sharing your life with all of us. May 2009 bring much happiness to your family!
well, came to the side, because a blogger friend requested it....
still here, because i'm one of the most nosy people in the world!
and i like the way you write!
being a german it's always nice to read different "english-ways":)
thanks
leslie
p.s.: and i like this "thanks"-thing....
I found your blog through the blog of a friend of mine. She had asked for prayer for your family through her blog so I bounced on over here and couldn't stop reading. I stuck around at first for the updates you would give that would help direct me on how to pray for your family. I still read now because your story is so REAL and you have a way with words that is easy and enjoyable to read.
And the photos are a plus. :)
Carol had been updating me about Tricia's pregnancy and CF battles and then told me about your blog. I was off work after having a mastectomy and while having chemotherapy, so I had plenty of time to follow your family's journey. I had met you once (the last Sunday of April, 2007--we came to church with Les and Carol and helped with the coffee hour)so your incredible story touched my heart. Gwyneth was born the day before my last chemo treatment-and Tricia's transplant was right before my reconstruction surgery--so I've been right there with you all the way--praying for you and celebrating your successes. I am looking forward to 2009 as as year where we can all move forward!
A friend had a link on her blog a while back. I clicked over & have been hooked ever since. : )
I even been trying to read through the archives to catch up on what I missed, but there is a lot there so it might take me a while.
It has been a blessing to see how God has been working in your family. He is amazing!
I don't actually remember how I ended up here...a blog link somewhere in the blogosphere, asking for prayers, I think....
I stayed because what happened a year ago was a miracle - and you don't get many chances in this life to witness miracles. I can't not know how it all turns out...and I can't thank you enough for sharing the miracles with us day after day. Gwyneth and Tricia are living proof that God hears prayers and acts on those prayers. Finding my way here has enhanced my faith in a way that has had a profound effect on my life.
And so I read everyday. And always will. So don't stop writing, 'kay?
I love your blog, mostly because you guys are just a bundle of miracles...God is in your life and anyone who reads this blog knows that He is an ever present help to your family.
I stick around because, well, I'm a sucker for happy endings. . . I think you have one of the most beautiful families I have ever seen.
Love & prayers to you daily,
CindyO.
A friend of mine referred to your blog on her blog so I started to read it. We do serve an incredible God and your site proves that. I pray for a very blessed 2009 for you and your family.
I came across your blog through Facebook (a friend of a friend at Liberty University had joined a Pray for Tricia and Gwyneth page), and I've been following since shortly before Gwyneth was born.
I kept reading the blog because your family's faith is inspiring and your lives are genuine. I appreciate your honesty - both about the "normal" things in life and the challenges your family has faced.
I've also learned a lot about CF, organ donation, and preemies. In fact, your story has been a great conversation starter to talk about the miracle of organ donation.
Thanks so much for sharing your story. My family continues to pray for you all.
January 7th I came to your blog. A friend had posted on her blog asking for prayers...
I've stayed because I love reading your words of faith. You have continually clung to God and I love reading as you share with the world.
I've stayed because I love reading about God's miracles. Your wife and your daughter.
I've stayed because I love reading about Gwyneth and where she's at. She and my nephew are so similar. She just warms my heart.
I found you from a facebook page. I stayed because your faith has inspired me.
I found your blog through TheNest.com, some other moms were talking about your story. I stayed because you and your family are an inspiration and incredibly strong. May God bless all of you in the new year.
I'm not sure when it was exactly, but I read about your story on Angela Hunt's blog and as the mother of a CF adult, I just HAD to check you out. I've stayed and prayed ever since :-)
My best friend found the site and referred it to me because of your positive writing. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old with CF. We love you guys!
My sister and a couple's group from my church in Ruther Glen VA were in Nags Head the 3rd weekend in January 2008. Each year they always attend Nags Head Church. That Sunday they learned about the birth of Gwyneth. Each summer when we vacation at Nags Head, I usually attend your church. I always say that Nags Head Church is my church away from home. I also became a grandmother for the first time on January 16th 2008. I feel I have been with you and your family in love and prayer and also joy to watch Gwyneth grow just as I watch my own grandson, Deacon grow. Thanks for sharing your story with everyone. I have laughed and cried with you and also love your family.
Your sister in Christ,
Betty Rae
My best friend found the site and referred it to me because of your positive writing. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old with CF. We love you guys!
i can't really remember how i found your page....but i do know why i have still followed your journey....you are real, you love Jesus, your wife and your daughter!! and you are honest!! thanks for giving us a little glimpse into your life!!
I came to your blog via the blog Really Living by Emily. Since I LOVE North Carolina (UNC grad) and I love God, and I used to do chest PT with CF folks at UNC hospitals, I kept reading. We've been praying for you all, but we've received SO MUCH encouragement from reading your blog that I can't imagine a day without reading about you and Tricia and the White Rose. I've always been an organ donor, but became a marrow donor through your site. There are many days when I wonder if God is really there and if He really messes with this world anymore....then I read your blog and I am convinced. Thanks for being so open, my brother.
I was told about your blog by my friend Talana (Princess Daydee), another adult with CF. I know her through the CF email lists and LiveJournal (my son Ricky, 13, has CF), and we've met a couple of times too. She told me about you guys right after your (almost 1 year old! my goodness!) Gwyneth was born and we cheered together when we found out that Tricia was getting her transplant.
I can't believe it has been a year!
Honestly I don't remember how I found your blog but the first time I read I was on for hours and was amazed at the joy and humor you and Tricia have despite your circumstances. You guys are an inspiration to many and a true testimony of how great our God is!!!
Gwyneth is beautiful!!! Many blessing to you and your family in the new year!
I came to know of this blog through our Sunday School teacher. He mentioned in class one week how we would be inspired to see another's faith being tested. I have stuck around for a few reasons ... 1) I'm a stalker :) 2) I love to see God's plan being played out before my very eyes and 3) How can you NOT need to check in when you guys have become like family!
Can't wait for Gwyneth's b-day!!!
Hi! My name is Leslie! I came across your blog from "Jesus Is..." (a blog that I follow). I thought the title to your post "We're Live" was interesting so I clicked on over! I'm glad I did!
It's amazing to see how GOD is working in so many lives... in so many ways!
If you ever have a chance, stop by and check out my chaos at http://lesliepjackson.blogspot.com.
I wish you and your beautiful family a great New Year...with MORE miracles than 2008 held for you.
Leslie
I heard of your blog from my cousin who worked with Bernie from your church. I followed it because I have a 96lb 9yr old micro preemie of my own,My 2 year old loves to look at your baby and I was blessed enough to see the miracles work with my own child and family and now with yours. You will always remember those days you speak of, they wont always be as fresh as they are now but you will always remember them. We pray for you every day and are so happy things are going so well. We live on knotts island not so far from you. Bless you all.

I read a bulletin from a friend on my Myspace site last February, requesting prayer for you and your girls. I followed the link to this blog, and have been a regular ever since. My husband and I have prayed for you. Our church family, as well as our small group have prayed for you. I have cried at times, and literally jumped for joy at times while reading about how God has shown up in your lives. I feel like you all are friends of ours, and I sincerely thank you for sharing your journey with us. Because of your story, I have become involved in The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and even walked in the Great Strides walk in Elizabeth City with my family and Small group members. We called ourselves Team Tricia! God bless you and your beautiful girls this new year!!
Came to your blog through the blog of a friend on Gwyneth's birthday: http://pipsylou.blogspot.com/
I stay because of the honesty with which you write. There are so many themes that run through your story: Hope in desperation, Joy in sorrow, Faith in darkness.
And, in some weird way, I feel like a kid who had found Santa's workshop and get's to peek through the window and watch the elves at work. Following your story feels like I'm getting to see God's work in process...a miracle unfolding. Your readers get to 'peek through the window' and watch the Father at work. Who could walk away from that?! ;)
So, that's why I stay. Well, and because Gwyneth is just so darn adorable!

I was hospitalized at Duke from August to September with a high-risk pregnancy. Found your blog through google searches about premature babies. Was surprised when I realized you had been at the same hospital where I was and then the same ICN where Matthew lived for his two short weeks. Turns out someone in my family even knew someone in your family through a Duke connection. I keep coming because I am hooked! Even with the uncertainties you still face, you are focused on making today beautiful for your family.
I saw a request for prayer for you and Tricia on another blog and I've been hooked ever since. While on vacation in July I attended your church and actually seeing you and Tricia in person really affected me. You guys are being prayed for daily. May 2009 bring unending blessings to all of you!
I came to your site the day after Gwyneth was born because of a prayer request from my daughter's inlaws from Stumpy Point. I became a consumed daily reader. There was huge drama in your post on some days. Your faith in God and hope for the future gravitated to all of us and gave us all hope for better days ahead. If you could face what happened in your family, tell us all about it and get through it with your faith intact, why couldn't I face anything that came my way. You also inspired me to become an organ donor. Now that your life is "normal", I hope you continue to post. Thanks for the inspiration.
A friend of mine referred me to your site. I keep checking in because I am a total junkie! And because I am interested to find out what you're going to blog next. And because my daughters are in love with your little girl! And because you are an entertaining blogger. And because your pictures are so much fun. And because of a bunch of other reasons. Thanks again for sharing a part of your life with the rest of us. We have been blessed by your family in many ways. Still praying for you all.

I was sent to your site from a friend that was researching CF. She had a student that has it, and wanted to find out all she could. Having had a preemie (29 weeks), myself, I was instantly drawn in. I find your love and faith so inspirational. I love watching Gwyneth grow and thrive. Health, love, and happiness to your family in the new year!
I started reading on the suggestion of a friend. She found your site while researching CF for ideas of what a student of her's was dealing with. I had a preemie baby (11 weeks early) and she thought I could relate. I love your story of love and faith, and enjoy watching the miracle of preemies thriving. Continued health and happiness to your family!

I was introduced to your story by my beautiful and talented friend Lisa Leonard (jewelry maker extraordinaire, as you know!) I've stuck with you guys because 1. your family is beautiful, 2. you all are an amazing testimony of God's faithfulness, and 3. you are so stinkin' funny!
Keep preachin, Brother!

I saw your blog from another blog I regularly read. I guess I just stumbled upon it and read your whole blog in one day. Your story captured me. I just couldn't stop praying and checking on you guys! The hurdles you guys have jumped and the continual faith that you put in Christ are inspiring. I know you are just normal people and so it is refreshing to see faith "lived" out even if I don't know you. I will continue to pray for your family and check on you in 2009. Your story has already touched so many and I am thankful as a Christian for the face that you have attached to that term. Happy almost birthday to Gwyneth. I pray that your family will continue to be used as a vessel for the work of Christ! Many blessing! Still praying in Houston Texas!
I wish I could tell you how I found your blog. I suppose it was probably on the side bar of someone else's blog. I really suspect, though, that it was God who told me where to click to find you guys. Your precious family!
I started reading early last February, when a friend with cystic fibrosis wrote about your blog in her livejournal. I checked it out because I check out most links people post in their journals, and your story was so unbelievable! I loved reading the posts and seeing your pictures and videos. Your story was one of hope and inspiration and made me think about a lot of things in my own life. I want to see how you are doing, and your beautiful photography. So I guess that is why I still come back!
I found your site from another cf family. I work in one of the CFF chapters, and she introduced us to it. Funny how every week when she would come in we would talk about you guys!
I thank you for sharing your life with everyone. It is motivating!
I came here when another blogger wrote about you and asked her readers to pray for your family shortly after Gwyn was born and Tricia was still in a coma. I have kept reading because it is impossible not to fall in love with your whole family, you are all beautiful people. Your love for your family and God is apparent in pretty much ever post you write, even the silly ones.
You all have inspired me to think about life more and I had the opportunity to get involved with a local CF 5K "run", thankfully they allowed walkers and I was able to participate (I have a bad knee from my years as a sprinter and I am NOT a distance runner). It was a great event and if I am still living here I plan to participate in their 2009 "run" as well. Normally I don't link posts in comments, especially this kind, but I wrote a post about the event if you feel like reading it, and if I am still here and get the information in time perhaps you can help get the word out to your Iowan readers and help make it an even bigger event: http://microblogologist.blogspot.com/2008/08/making-my-life-little-less-microscopic.html.
Thank you and God bless,
Karen
I came to your blog through Baby Leino's blog. Jordan and Patience lead worship at our church C3. I have been hooked ever since. You guys are amazing. I would go to your blog and see you going through all these difficult times and it made me realize how blessed I am that my children are healthy and my husband is not sick as well as myself. God has used you guys and you continue to point to him in all you have been through. May God continue to bless your family. You guys give others inspiration to point to our heavenly father in times of trials. Thank you for sharing all that you do!!
I found out about your blog thru Patience and Jordan Leino's blog over a year ago. Patience and I went to the same church in NJ in the mid 90s.
I was walking through our office the other day and saw your blog on a co-worker's screen and was like "wait, you read CFHusband too?!?" It was funny.
I came to this blog b/c Megan at "A Day with the Demos" wrote about you last year before I became a blogger myself, when I was just a blog stalker.
I stayed because I appreciated your honesty and your obvious love for your girls and our Lord. I truly feel like you guys have been such a light and witness for our Lord during what I can only imagine has been an incredibly difficult time.
I don't comment often b/c you get so many commentors, but I do feel a connection with you because of reading about your family this past year. Amazing how you can feel like you know someone so well and they have no idea you even exist!
I do know that one day we'll all meet in Heaven as we're praising our Lord and I can't help but wonder if I'll be all "Hey Nate, Tricia, Gwenyth, good to see you!" most likely I'll be speechless and in awe of our awesome Creator God. :-)
Looking forward to the parties this week! Eager to see that video too!!
Keep on serving our Lord and letting your light shine. Thank you!
I saw you on someone's sidebar as a prayer request. I stayed because your story so beautifully captures the truth of 2 Corinthians 12:9, that God perfects His strength in our weakness. He is so very great!
Plus, your goofy posts crack me up.
link on another blog I read- stayed because the story is similar to mine- I take care of my best friend who became permanently disabled 5 1/2 years ago due to chronic illness- we keep you in our prayers
forgot to say that we're the same age- not too many 27 year old caregivers (or chronically ill 27 yr olds for that matter) out there
I am not sure who sent me the site but i can tell you why i stayed. I have a brother who is 27 with CF and i also delivered quadruplets 1/16/08, our kids birthdays are very close! Mine were born at 29w. I can relate to issues of prematurity and also CF, for i have watched my brother doing breathing treatments, take tons of meds, had many organs removed and many hospital stays.
You three inspir me and so many others! Keep it up.
I first came here because a friend sent me the link...we have been unable to have children so far, and God used your story to remind me that He is the God of miracles and our lives our in His hands and His perfect timing. I have a disease similar to cystic fibrosis and have benefited from the research that has been done for CF as some of the treatments work for me even though it's not CF. :-) (I'm actually doing my vest treatment right now...) Your faith in God and how you constantly point others to Him as the author of your story is what has kept me here. Although I have my own share of health problems, thinking of Tricia and everything she has gone through reminds me of how blessed I am. I pray for you guys all the time!! Praise God for miracles!! :-)
I found your blog from another Xanga blogger's request for prayer for your family. Since then, I've tried to stay as up-to-date as I can, although lately I haven't done a very good job of it.
Found a link through Jordan and Patience Leino's blogspot about the life of baby Isaac.
I found out about your blog through a site I am on. I sticked around cause I love following your story. I was really interested in your story and I kept coming back here to basically keep checking to see if everything was still ok. Glad everything is going well and I can't believe how fast this year has gone by to see Gwyneth hit 1. Way to go babe. :)
I don't even remember, but I've been following every sense. I think it was someone asking for prayers. I stick around because you and your family gives me hope. God is so amazing and still works miracles. It is nice to see/read about it. Thanks for sharing your family, your miracle and your hope with the world.
this is so terrible i can't remember how i found your site pretty sure it was from another premie site. i've stayed b/c it's a wonderful testimony to what God does everyday in our lives if we will only stop and watch. and b/c you post often which keeps us on our toes.
I came over to your site from a link on another blog. I was blown away by what was happening in your lives at that time. I remember going to the beginning and reading my way forward. I was excited to know that you lived in the OBX, my favorite vacation spot so far. I have continued to come back because I'm curious about what more is happening in your lives. I have appreciated your honesty and humility, your ability to remain steadfast in your faith despite the journey GOD has led you on, and your strength in knowing what you believe and your consistency in sharing that with the world, literally.
Blessings to you in 2009!
Hi Nate,
I found you thru another blog that was detailing a troubled blessign of pregnancy, and was hooked. I found myself praying for your little family daily, and looked forward to your honest and humble posts. Each day became more of a blessing and celebration. I haven't quit looking and reading. I don't get to comment too often, as I read this in Google Reader, wich doesn't allow "comments" ...
I follow the tweets, too!
Here's to a GREAT 2009!
~God Bless!
read about your blog on one about adoptions in Kazahkhstan and you all stole my heart and got bookmarked instantly.
I came to you via a MySpace message sent out by Tricia's friend Miriam that I met in Prague as we were traveling. She asked for prayers, I started following your story, and gained my Faith back. Thank you and Tricia (and Gwyneth too) for opening your lives to us and sharing your Faith. Your Faith has reignigted my faith. All my love! Jessica

There was a reference to you on another blog - I don't know which one - and I surfed on in.
I stayed because your daughter is so dang cute I can hardly stand it. =)
Your church in VB was a "home" for Young Musicians of VA" about 4 years ago (they've since moved to another church). A weekly list of prayer requests from them contained the link to your blog. I read your story(ies) with wonder at God's hand at work in your lives; Gwyneth's baby pictures were awe-inspiring to me. I've kept up mostly because I can't wait to see what God will do next, and, naturally, watch your girls get healthy and strong. Happy Anniversary!
I think it's Tricia's sister who is a member of Splitcoaststampers and I found your blog through one of her posts on SCS. Now I feel as though I know you.
I came across your blog through Kenzie Stanfield’s blog. I was looking for more people to read about. I though she was a good place to begin because she is such a woman of substance that anyone she lists on her blog must also be people of substance. I remember reading your blog description and decided that I would go right back to the beginning. I was thinking here is a real life love story. Weak I know!! So I read your blog from the first post. I think this was at the time that Gwyneth was about 25 days old. I remember a couple of posts in thinking I will finally get to understand what CF is. I remember wondering what it was when I read on a Celine Dion cover of my moms that she dedicated a song to one of her nieces who died at an early age of CF. I thought it was some server case of arthritis. Clueless I tell you. What has made me stick with it is that there are some things you and Tricia said would be your goals one I remember was that you were going to be positive. Even in some of the darkest moments you have maintained that and not lashed out been overtly negative and I’ve noticed that you would rather not say anything than be negative. I hope I’m right in this assumption. I also find it educating. I also feel like tons of others out there I’m sure that you are dear friends. I also feel that some days I just want to sit close to someone who has experienced the hand of God in their lives. NOT that I think you are greater than me but God has put you in humanly helpless situations and he’s stepped in and done the work. I want to be as close to God in every way possible, even if that means reading a blog of his instruments.
I came to your blog through Jordan and Patience (came to theirs because I grew up with Jordan's older siblings). I've stayed because I get to be a part of God's miracles in your lives when I pray for you. Nothing beats that!!
