Johnson Family Update

You might remember me blogging about our friends The Johnsons...about their story of adoption and their new journey to adopt three more. Well, they've just received the news that they are one BIG step closer to being on their way to Ethiopia and bringing their kids home!

Check out the great news Here!

My Niece, Leah

Leah was discharged today (Tuesday) and is now at home with her family. Don't know if they ever figured out any more than that she had some kind of virus that really messed her up for a few days...thanks for your thoughts and prayer!

My niece, Leah, who is in town with her big brother and mom (Tricia's sister, Megan), has been having a rough couple of days. They took her to the ER last night because she was vomiting...they gave her a few IV's of stuff and sent her home where she slept well last night. But, today around noon, they called the ambulance to the local hospital and then was transfered up to the nearest children's hospital a few hours away in VA. That's about all I can tell you at this point.

Please, if you can, take a moment to pray for little Leah and/or stop by Megan's blog and leave a note of encouragement, we'd appreciate it!

Thanks.

Party Pics

The party was great! The weather could not have been any more perfect, and about 60 friends and family came out to help us celebrate. Although Tricia knew I was up to something, she didn't know what until she arrived, which was fun (and amazing). Below are some pics from the evening...

This is Jane-Jane, a frequent blog reader/commenter who we had never met until yesterday...she has been praying for us for quite a while, and she drove no less than 8 hours on Friday from South Carolina just to come and meet us! Very cool!

My plan is to celebrate every year with Tricia and our friends and family, so make plans now to party with us on Saturday, April 3, 2010!

Beautiful Day For A Party

The Weather could not be any more beautiful...an absolutely picture-perfect April day on the Outer Banks...warm and windy! We will indeed be partying outside this evening at The Park!

As far as I know, Tricia still doesn't know, which is a minor miracle since she hates surprises and basically everyone else in the entire world does know! I'm looking forward to spending time with friends and family and meeting a few blog readers for the first time! See you there!

A Nice Day

If nothing else, my birthday was much more relaxing this year than last. I spent most of the day at home with my girls, cleaning the house, watching movies, snuggling with Tricia, tickling Gwyneth. It was a very nice day.

Longest Night Of My Life

A year ago tonight was the longest night of my life. Tricia went into surgery around 9pm and didn't come out until after 6am the next day...it seemed like much more than 9 hours to me.

Our parents and I stayed awake the entire time, sitting in the NICU waiting room, spending time with Gwyneth. I know from the thousands of comments that night and early morning that many, many people were up with us, praying and hoping and waiting.

I'd love to write something poetic and deep right now, but I really have nothing more to say except, "thank you".

Notes For Tricia

Tricia's transplantiversary is today (the day she went into surgery) and tomorrow (the day she came out of surgery)! Although she knows I'm up to something, I don't think she's quite figured it out yet that we're throwing her a party!

I would love for you to help us celebrate by leaving a note for Tricia in the comments section of this post. Anything that you would like to say to encourage Tricia...although it's been an awesome year on one hand, it's also been a very, very rough year on the other. I'll share your notes to her tomorrow (Friday) night at our party!

Thanks!

Happy Birthday To Me!

28 today!

Here's what I wrote on my blog on this day last year...

"My first as a father! My third as a husband! I expect it will be the best ever!"

I had NO idea...

April 2 was the day we got the call that finally gave us tangible hope for Tricia's future.

April 2 was the day that, together, we raised over half of my goal of $15,000 (Click Here to read all of the wonderful birthday notes from Last Year).

Definitely the best birthday ever! And, again, I expect that this year's will be ever better!

If you'd like to say "Happy Birthday!" with more than words (and I totally appreciate the words!), please consider donating to my Personal CF Fund-Raising Great Strides Goal (click "click to donate" on the linked page) to help continue to make life better for Tricia and all CF patients around the world. Every penny we raise goes directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!

Thank you (my readers), again, for helping to make this past year our best ever!

April Fool!

Since I basically achieved the greatest April Fool's joke ever last year (remember This and This?), I'm not even going to attempt any foolery today on my blog readers.

Or will I?
