CF Fund-Raiser This Saturday!

This Saturday, rain or shine, we are hosting a fund-raiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, sponsored by Rita's (of Southern Shores) and Bagels To Beef Cafe. Including a raffle of items from Starbucks, UPS, Cosmos and Outer Banks Eye Care, Rita's will be giving away free Italian Ice, and Bagels To Beef will be offering some freebies as well to anyone who gives a donation.

All moneys go directly toward supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation via the OBX Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis, taking place on September 12!

I will be hanging out all afternoon at The Marketplace Shopping Center in Southern Shores (Look for the big Rita's Truck), and I'm sure Tricia and Gwyneth will swing by as well to grab something to snack on. So, please, come say "hi", enjoy some awesome treats, and help us make life a little better for CFers all around the world!

Thanks!

Nate

Hey Nate,
Praying for a great turnout for the fund raiser.

Nate,
*Can I ask you for some prayers from your readers as several towns/cities in North Dakota are flooding and hundreds of homes have been evacuated due to rising of the water caused by ice jams in the Missouri/Red/Heart River.

Sandbagging is being done around the clock in both Bismarck, and Fargo areas.

The towns/cities of: Linton,Beluah/Hazen,Bismarck just to name a few are all or portions of are completely flooded and or homes and buildings are under water.

Thank you all for your prayers.~Darlene

The messages from "Carrie" are bogus. Please disregard. Someone is pretending to be me.
Any comments from me will have a blogger profile attached. If these appear anywhere else please let me know. Thank you.

I was wondering why MckMama would be begging all her readers for tons of gift cards when her husband has a good job and can support them. Now it makes sense that the other post was bogus. Thanks for clearing it up for us.

My sister had her son at 24 weeks 6 days in February. So he is in the middle of his NICU journey. A friend sent me the link to your blog and I have read from the "We are pregnant" post to now. It's taken me a few days, but WOW! You guys are totally amazing. I will be following your story. If you want to pop over and meet little Jimmie his blog is http://rachaelsupdateblog.blogspot.com/

Many prayers for your beautiful family.

I am asking for prayers for the Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN area as they are preparing for the Red River to crest on Friday or Saturday. The river is predicted to crest at 41' and the dikes are 43' high so please pray the dikes hold and the cities don't flood. Over 10,000 people have helped with the sandbagging effort. Please remember them in your prayers. Thank you!

Super Great CF News we got in our inbox today...

Dear Friend, Thank you for all you have done to help advance a cure for cystic fibrosis. I am writing today to share some exciting news with you. Two promising potential CF drugs took important steps forward this week:

* Vertex Pharmaceuticals announced that a potential drug that treats the basic genetic defect in CF moved into phase 2a clinical trials. The drug, known as VX-809, will be tested in CF patient volunteers.

The clinical trials will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of VX-809 in CF patients. Read the full story (Sorry links not allowed in the post)

* The CF Foundation announced that we will collaborate with Alnara Pharmaceuticals to ensure the development of an important pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy known as liprotamase.

Liprotamase, formerly known as ALTU-135 and Trizytek, was originally discovered and tested by Altus Pharmaceuticals. Alnara will complete the ongoing studies and see this important product through until it is available to CF patients. These breakthroughs are two examples of the kind of research that is made possible because of your support. Without you, this type of work simply would not be funded. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to CF today. Your support will help us continue advancing important CF science.

Thank you for all you are doing to bring us closer to a cure.

Sincerely yours,

Robert J. Beall, Ph.D. President and CEO Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (800) FIGHT CF info@
P.S. Please forward this to someone else who might also consider supporting our life-saving work.
