6 Months!!!

Today is Gwyneth Rose's SIX MONTH BIRTHDAY!!! It truly is too much to even try to wrap my mind around all that has taken place since that miraculous day on January 8.

It would be impossible to even begin to say how thankful we are to God, our family and friends, the Duke staff, our blog readers and the donor and his/her family for the many gifts we have been given during the first half of this year. We are sincerely amazed today, just as we were from the start, that God would bless anyone the way He has blessed us.

Thank YOU for your encouragement and prayers and comments and emails and donations and cards and gifts over the past 26 weeks...you'll never know how much we appreciate everything.

Gwyneth is officially 7lbs 7oz today (which is fitting if you'll notice the date)! She is now bigger than my own birth weight. She is also 19.25 inches long.

Congrats to Krystal for being the first to guess the correct weight!

And, even better, Gwyneth has officially hit her first big developmental milestone! Over the past several weeks she has becoming more and more social, and just within the past few days, she is finally smiling on purpose for us when we talk to her!

CFHusband Contest 03

It's been nearly a month since we had Gwyneth weighed, and she was just over 6lbs then. She's being weighed this afternoon.

Leave a comment guessing her current weight in pounds and ounces. Only ONE guess per person!

The first person to guess correctly wins a free after-dinner mint from Olive Garden!!!

Weekend Relaxation

Actually, the first Sunday of each month aren't too relaxing for me, and I usually work at least a few hours on Saturday, but the weekends are still nice.

Tricia and Gwyneth got lots of quality time.



And, Gwyneth and I grabbed a quick nap this afternoon.


BTW, Tricia goes in for her 3rd round of chemo tomorrow morning, and we should know Gwyneth's current weight by the afternoon, so check back in and I'll let you know how the day went.

Happy 4th of July!

No fireworks for us this year...something tells me that Gwyneth wouldn't be too crazy about sitting on her back in the beach sand at 9:30pm, staring straight up into the sky as 10 minutes of very large fireworks exploded almost directly overhead (which is what we usually do).

Instead, we spent a quiet evening at home, taking some family pictures. We did manage to take Gwyneth out for her first Rita's trip while everyone else was out on the beach watching the fireworks.

With life getting busy with life, it's harder to find time to take lots of pics, which is a good thing, IMO. Here are a few pics of the past week.







BTW, Gwyneth is still on the nasal cannula, but we take it off every now and then to keep the skin on her face from becoming irritated...for some reason, most of our pics of her recently are without the O2. I don't have much else to update about her because we haven't had any appointments the past few weeks, but we have several coming up, so check back in to find out how she's doing.

Commitment

This past Sunday, our family participated in a parent/child dedication ceremony at church. We don't baptize infants, nor do we dedicate children by themselves. The dedication is mostly for the parents of a child. We have committed to raising Gwyneth in a home that is centered on God's love for her. My favorite part of our dedications is when we ask the entire church body to stand with us and pray, signifying that they are supporting us over the next several years in our journey together.

2nd Round of Chemo

I just dropped Tricia off at 9 to receive her second round of chemo. She should be done by noon.
