Notes For Tricia

Tricia's transplantiversary is today (the day she went into surgery) and tomorrow (the day she came out of surgery)! Although she knows I'm up to something, I don't think she's quite figured it out yet that we're throwing her a party!

I would love for you to help us celebrate by leaving a note for Tricia in the comments section of this post. Anything that you would like to say to encourage Tricia...although it's been an awesome year on one hand, it's also been a very, very rough year on the other. I'll share your notes to her tomorrow (Friday) night at our party!

Thanks!

Nate

Hi Tricia,

We share a name *and* a birthday (imagine that!), plus I have a close friend with a CF child, so I've been following your story with great interest since I found out about it (sometime after Gwyneth was born). The strength you all have shown is inspiring. I especially admire the grace and courtesy you all seem to show to your care givers - what a powerful witness that must be. Happy Transplantiversary - and here's to many MANY more!

Hey Tricia! I found your story when over a year ago my daughter gave birth to a preemie. Researching about preemies I found Nates blog. It has been a blessing to read about your faith. Your little girls amazing journey and blessed progress has encouraged us in our journey too. I am sorry things have been so tough for you. Thank you for your strength and faith in God. Congratulations on your year with Gwynneth and the many more to come!

Like many others have already stated, I want to thank you for sharing your story with all of us! Your story, along with Gwyneth's, has been awe inspiring, motivating, uplifting, sad, exciting, powerful, tearful (good & scary), and educational (just to name a few). I pray that God and your new lungs carry you through many many more healthy happy years!! I look forward to following your journey for years to come. I also want to let you know that because of you, a college friend that lost her battle with CF and my friend's daughter I will be participating in a Cystic Fibrosis Walk in MO.

Many Blessings to you!

Hello Tricia and Nate!

Happy one-year birthday to your lungs!!!
I remember that night last year so well. I didn't sleep at all and spent all night praying for you and blogging about you with my friends until we got news from Nate.
I also know how bittersweet this time is. In october of this year I celebrated my one-year birthday with my new lungs and also mourned my donor. I feel so blessed in this life. I got the call on October 23rd but didn't receive the transplant until the wee hours of the 24th. This helped me because on the 23rd I truly mourned my donor and the loss for their family and then on the 24th I was able to celebrate the miraculous re-birth of my life.

Congratulations Tricia for all the strength you have shown this year and for all of the special family moments you have experienced.

Much love!

Eva

Happy Transplantiversary, Tricia!! Nate recently posted about what he was doing on the night of your transplant, and it brings me back to how vividly I remember that night too, even though I've never met either of you. I was in my first year of a very difficult graduate program, and I began reading your blog mid-January. I, of course, was totally hooked and will admit to slacking on reading for courses to catch up on what was going on at Duke. That night my husband and I prayed for you (I was a little shy admitting to him how emotionally attached I was to people I'd never met). I recall waking up several times during the night to dash out to the living room to check my computer for Nate's updates. The next day was like Christmas when I saw that the surgery had gone well - I had to abandon all attempts to read or write papers because I was simply too happy to concentrate.

I am so thankful for that day and for your story. And Gwyneth is the most adorable baby the internet has ever seen. Love to all three of you,

-Sarah Tillman, Newark DE

Thank you (and Nate) so much for sharing this miraculous journey with us. You have captivated us with your grace, strength and compassion all of which are nothing shy of remarkable. I personally had no idea that my faith in the Lord could grow so much stronger. Thank you for that! You truly are an inspiration. Your courage and strength inspire me every day. Thanks for letting us all be a part of your life via Nate's blog. I feel like we're family when we've never met! Tricia, Thank you for sharing the ups and downs of the past year! Nate writes how he nor the rest of your family didn't sleep the night of your tx and I gotta admit I slept with my laptop next to me and checked often throughout the night. Had you both "cut us off" (which I'm sure was very tempting any times over) I would've been so heartbroken. I believe you are every bit as brave about this blog as you've been with everything you've been through in your young life! Thank you, seriously, for allowing Nate to share your lives with us. I am in awe of how God works his miracles thru your ability to trust in His plan. What a beautiful example you provide for so many! You, the tx team, and the selfless donor's family remain in my prayers on this day of remembrance.

I have been following your story daily since just before Gwyneth was born and I can't tell you how many prayers for healing and prayers for praise we have sent up for your family. We feel honored to have been able to pray for this journey and blessed that you have shared it with us.

Whenever I read Nate's blog, I keep going back to the times when he has mentioned that your goal has been for God to use your CF to bless others.
I can't explain how much of a blessing you have provided to so many by using your CF to the glory of God.

I hope today is a wonderful celebration for you and that it makes you feel as special as you are! (Nate and Gwyneth, of course, are on the top of the 'special people' list too!)

My husband and boys still ask frequently how you and Gwyneth are doing. There were too many miracles to count in that short time period last year at this time. God is awesome and sure did show Himself in you and your life. Thanks for always being here as a reminder that it isn't always easy, God still does miracles, sometimes it takes HARD WORK to get through, family is what it's all about, dream big, HOPE bigger and most of all LOVE LOTS. Tricia, I have been reading Nate's blog for over one year. I found it with the help of a nurse at Duke who is also a cheer coach for my daughter. I was immediately hooked on your story and the love that Nate has for you and Gwyneth and the love for Christ that both have showed no matter what trials you are going through. I have learned a lot about CF and have become involved with Great Strides in Durham as a result of all of the information that you two have placed beofre the world to see. I am thankful for what I have seen in your lives and am thankful to God for all that I have learned and how I have grown through your stories. I remember when Nate put out the word that new lungs were available for you! I had prayed so much for you and upon learning the great news I was calling my friends (my Great Strides Team) telling them of the news and asking them to pray for you. My prayers continue for your family- May God continue to richly bless your family. Annette Smith - Rougemont, NC

We have been praying for you, Gwyneth, and Nate since we first heard about your serious health situation last December 2007. What an amazing God we serve that things have turned out this way. I know 2008 was a tremendously blessed as well as difficult year, but praise God He carried you through. In many ways, your translativersary is actually your own personal Thanksgiving Day. I've always thought it was kind of weird that I could get "involved" in people's lives, whom I've never met personally or spent any quality time with. However, I am so thankful to you and your awesome hubby that you would be willing to share your tremendous journey with the world.

The last year+ of your life (and Gwyneth's), has been such an inspiration to me. Reminding me to not take life for granted, to appreciate the little things. To find joy in the hard times.

I'm thankful for you and your family (and your extended family too, through their blogs), to be such an open book and to glorify our Lord through it all. Your faith is inspiring as well and I am just so excited that Nate gave us the opportunity to share a note for you here. :-)

Enjoy many years to come being the wonderful wife and mommy that you always dreamed of being!

Hey Tric!

Happy 1 year Transplantiversary!
This past year has been full of events for the Kirschner/Lawrenson family. We are so glad things are going well, and Joe couldn't be happier to see "his sister" with new lungs. It is awesome to see what God has done and how he has answered so many prayers. You are such a strong women and it gives us encouragement in our own lives every day. This past year has been a reminder of how great God is!

Joe and I really wish we could be there for your big party, but with him only being back to work for a week and half he couldn't take off. BUT it was great to see you a few weeks ago for Gwyneth's birthday.

Lots of love and prayers,

Joe and Carolyn K.

Tricia,

I remember the first time that I prayed for you. You were going into surgery to get put on the vent (I think that was it) and, in turn, Gwyneth was delivered.

In the weeks that followed, my heart was so burdened for you. Knowing that your sweet baby was just a few floors away, yet you were unable to actually "see" her made me realize just how blessed I was to see, touch and hug my kids everyday. Your first face-to-face visit with Gwyneth brought tears to my eyes.

Then, as you entered the OR for your transplant surgery, my friend and I prayed, over the phone, me with my hands on your picture (right on the computer screen) for God to bring you through so that you could spend many more years watching your daughter grow.

Through your story, God has blessed me beyond belief. Thank you for letting me take part, for letting us all journey with you.

Happy Transplantiversary, Tricia!

Fondly,

Jessica
