Home Again

We got home around midnight last night. Long day, but never a bad day when you're discharged from the hospital. I'm working at home today while Tricia is out with her mom and brother and Gwyneth house hunting.

On our way home, we stopped to attend the annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation meeting in Raleigh. We were invited to attend because they were going to present Tricia and I with an award...our Great Strides Walk last year was the highest earning, first-year walk of '07 in NC ($32,000). We appreciate the recognition, and, of course, say "thank you!" to everyone who helped in any way last year (because they deserve most of the credit)!

Anyway, the meeting took place at the Inspire (a company that focuses on developing new drugs for CF) headquarters. They have some incredibly exciting news about a new drug that is in the testing phase (I'll explain more later).

Anyway, we have a lot going on this weekend, and I'll try to update when I can. Tricia is feeling good, taking her nausea meds on a regular basis. And, Gwyneth slept better last night than she had the two previous nights, which gave me chance to do some catching up myself.

Thanks!

Nate

So glad Tricia is feeling at least okay and that her nausea is being managed! Praying this keeps up for all her treatments!!

If you would pray for us, we recently found out our newest baby (I'm 23 weeks pregnant) has serious heart issues and I am going in today again to have his little thumper checked out.

Keeping up with you guys always; so glad Tricia is OUT of the hospital again!!!

Glad you are home! What an incredible award to receive! It is through YOUR generousity by sharing your story and experiences that gather the donations. We are just blessed enough to be a small part of it. I hope you have a great weekend and that Tricia feels better soon.

Just completed your reading your confessions...from the beginning, and it only took a few days after stumbling across your site! (mostly at work, I'm afraid...)

Funny how reading the posts and information you've chosen to share can make a complete stranger, like me, feel that they know you and your family.

As I read, I couldn't help but find common bonds that lead me to continue reading. For instance, I love the OBX having vacationed there several times in the houses on stilts you spoke of. My husband of 20 years and I adopted our daughter from India just 10 months ago and her name is Devi Rose! Devi is having trouble gaining weight, so our doc mentioned testing her at some point for CF, although it is not common in people of her ethnicity. I lost my mother to lung cancer (I was one of her caregivers and advocates for 4 years), although a different kind of cancer than Tricia's, the memories of chemo appts. and long hospital stays are still very fresh. I too, have wild hair...I wear mine in dreads :)

With that, I wish you, Tricia, Gwyneth, Meka and Ralphie continue to enjoy your life's adventure, where ever it may lead you. Also sending prayers for Tricia's and Gwyneth's good health.

bornofindia.blogspot.com is our site...not nearly as entertaining as yours but we are biased as we are completely in love with the subject!

Does Tricia know sign language? It comes in handy in so many situations! I am fluent in it and my husband knows a bunch too. We have taught our baby some and he can sign about 20 words now and he's only 14 months old...

Anyway, I was thinking that it might come in handy with her vocal cords on the fritz and I was just wondering if you guys had learned any.

Way to go on the award. I hope that house hunting goes well. That is hard to do. It is nice to know that things are moving forward. I have found out that since I had cancer, they do things a lot different now. They don't take your spleen out now. I hope the new drug will make things better for a lot of people. It is a blessing to see progress. Have a best blessed night!

heard a cool quote from Larry Hagman today, a liver recipient about 10 years ago...when he ask someone if they are signed up to be a donor and they say something like they don't think that is for them. He then ask them if they needed an organ, would they receive one from someone else. he then said that he typically does not need to go any farther to get them signed up. Thought it was a cool conversation that could be duplicated for the good of MANY!

I'm happy to hear that you're home and that Tricia is feeling relatively well. I hope the house search is going well too-looking for your 1st house is such a fun (and nervewracking and down right scary!) process and I'm praying its a smooth one for the 3 of you as well! You're family is always in my prayers and thoughts.
