New Pics of Gwyneth Rose! (and a question answered)

My Nephew (NO, he did NOT fall into an aquarium)

I will post pics of Tricia once she is fully awake (she was very sleepy all day today) and feeling up for it.

For those who are interested, I asked my Dad to post at some point about How To Pray For An Organ Donor. (my brain is fried today and I wanted to get that answer out there ASAP)

Good Night!

Nate

She is so beautiful! The pictures took my breath away. What a tiny, perfect, precious, sweet angel.

What's the scoop on the poop? (hee)

This reminds me that a family at our church gave birth to a preemie recently. If we could add her to our prayers--her name is Savanna. Thanks.

Thank you again, Nate and Tricia, for allowing us all to share in this experience with you. You are all an inspiration and I'm sure you're touching countless lives. I have been blessed by following your story.

Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. Psalm 47:6

So, at viewing this little beauties newest pictures, this was the first thing (or verse) that popped into my head. She (along with all babies) being pure and innocent, is the closest existence to God that we will ever know here on Earth. It's just amazing and beautiful! She's just amazing and beautiful. Her hair is awesome! Wow! Can you imagine how much she'll have at the point that she was actually due to be born? Thanks for posting! I'm going to bed with visions of Gods little miracle (and proof to a lost world that He does exist). Praying that tomorrow will be a lovely and blessed day for you all.

Beautiful girl!

I have an organ transplant question...please forgive me if it's answered somewhere else. Is it possible for Tricia to have a double lung transplant from _two_ live donors?

Several years ago, our 16yo friend w/ CF, J, received a double lung transplant this way. My dad donated one lobe of his lung, and J's mom donated the other lobe. (I guess we all have 5 lobes on our lungs, so the donors are just fine). I remember that J was a petite 16 year old, so the two larger adult lobes filled her chest pretty well.

Sadly, J has since passed away, but the transplant gave her a year of a really full life, able to do things she'd never been able to do before.

Anyway, I just thought I'd ask since I'd only really seen discussion on cadaver donors. (And kudos to you by the way for convincing so many to become organ donors! My hubby and I already are).

I've been following this blog for a couple of weeks now and getting the word out to others to add you all to their prayers.

I wanted to let people know that if they are in California they can register their wishes re: organ donation at donatelifecalifornia.org.

This can be accessed by hospital personnel even if they cannot find your next of kin quickly. More importantly, your next of kin will be presented with documentation of your donor status, but will not be asked to make a decision when they are likely very stressed and unable to think clearly.

Other states may have something similar and if they don't, get busy writing those letters to your legislators!

Nate

Hello --I thought I would say hi--I have been reading your story the past week and I wanted to Thank you for sharing your story with all of us.

When I found your blog I sat and read the whole story with tears streaming down my eyes.

Nate you have AMAZING FAITH!!!! God is going to be soo glorified!!!

You, Tricia, and Gwyneth are such a little love story that God is working thru and it has touched us all. You are inspiring soo many people!!! Your faith is INCREDIBLE!!!

Nate your story hit so close to home my husband and I are both born again, saved, in love with Jesus, Christians. We are in the process of adopting our third child from Guatemala. (We have a biological sweet prince and a little sweet princess from Guatemala:)

Our little guy (Samuel) who we are waiting on is premature. We are not sure what week he was born in but the foster mother told us somewhere the seventh month. We are not even sure if he was born in a hospital. HIs birthmom did try to keep him for six weeks. It is honestly a miracle he even survived.

We are waiting to pick him up and we hope to be leaving for Guatemala within the next two weeks.

It has been so amazing to follow your journey and have a little glimpse into little Gwyneth's life-- somehow it has made me feel closer to my baby boy as we wait for the call to go get him. He is now eight months old. I have a public blog for Caleb and Sophie but for now (several reasons I just can't say right here so sorry) my blog of Samuel is private. I will send you an invite if you like you can take a look at some pictures of him.

Again Thank you for sharing your love story of you and your girls with all of us!

Kindest regards
Crystal

She is so beautiful--love that hair. I see that she is trying to pull the vent tube. My daughter has pulled her vent tube before when they were weaning her off of sedation. I know that you guys are members of cysticfibrosis.com & Garran from there just recently extubated himself also. I know that she is probably not big enough yet to pull it out but it just reminded me of that story & how she is maturing so quickly. I can't believe that they make CPAP mask that small, it's amazing the technology they have these days.

Tricia & Gwyneth are still in my prayers. I am glad to hear that Tricia is awake now & able to communicate with you better. God heard all the prayers that were being sent world wide for the help of communication. Thank you Nate for taking the time out of your day to share your story with all of us here.

Gweneth is lovely !!

I must confess, it breaks my heart to see what she is going through but then I read your words and I am put at ease. I have a 3 year old son and think 'what if this was him'. Both you and Tricia are very brave and courageous and make someone like myself very grateful for what I have. Thank you !!

I'm sure you are so relieved that Tricia is awake and is doing well.

My older brother had CF (sadly, he passed away when I was 2). I vividly remember the day he died but I also have memories (only a couple) of us playing and going outside to greet our dad when he returned home from work. My DH and I even called our son after my brother (well, his middle name, BRETT). My parents were so pleased. I'm sure if I was with them I would have seen a tear in the eyes.

Take care,
K.

How long will it be before she is actually able to see her in person? Any stats on the lung transplant people? What about Gwyn's CF test?

I am praying constantly for you guys and for the organ donors! Keep up the good recruiting work!! I'm not sure if I have said it before but I have been an organ donor since I was 18 and received my drivers license. I think it is a wonderful thing. I have also had many conversations with different people about it. A lot don't want to do it but I say whats the point of keeping them when you no longer need them?

Anyways, I hope today is a wonderful day for all of you!!

I went and checked out the blog of "the adoption of William Alan". William's mom commented on this post. God bless this family #1 for adoption and #2 having such compassion on a special needs child. Jesus said religion was taking care of widows and orphans. Check out their blog if you want to see "religion" Jesus' words in action. Plus they need financial help to get William to the US from Africa.

She looks soooo good!! Look at the blonde hair, oh my gosh!! Your new camera is amazing, as I look at Gwyneth alone she seems so much bigger, but when you put it in perspective with your hand, wow... amazing how detailed picture comes out!

If someone is seriously saying negative comments, Well I am not going to give it the time of day. Satan is not going to pull down such an awesome occation! You are an amazing Godly husband and Father! You have done a phenomenal job with this site and with sharing your God, your beliefs, your family, your life! People can make rude negative comments but just remember you are a rock, you have planted sooo many seeds and you will reap the rewards in heaven! Think of how Jesus feels for something negative to be said about his miracles, he must be so hurt. I will be praying for them too!

When commenting back to the people who have something negative to say just remember: "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Proverbs 15:1

Yes what's going on with the poop?

Ok, turn the computer to Trisha.
:0) Good morning beautiful Mommy!! I've missed you just like soo many in this world! Nathan has done such a great job. If emails are sent he responds soo quickly. He has kept us up to date on how you are doing and how Gwyneth is. I would be going crazy if he didn't do this, for us medical personel that are usually on the other side, it is a reality check when we have to be on the patients side of things. Just another way for God to strengthen my bedside manner for my patient & the family. Your strength and testimony have been soo inspirational to me! I have so much more to say but I will save it for another time! I am soo glad you are awake, I know you have hours to spend reading all these comments.

Nate and Tricia,

The blessings for Gwyneth are piling up - I'm sure you are keeping track of them.
Amazing that, as a 24-weeker,
- she has avoided the high frequency ventilator
- her PDA closed without surgery
- she had NO brain bleed!
My 26-weeker had a grade-2 brain bleed and had PDA surgery when she was under two pounds. And we spent most of our 3 1/2 months between a 24-weeker and a 25-weeker who both spent weeks on the high frequency vent.
We are so happy for you all!

I had been there prior to my marriage, and it was something I really wanted my husband and children to experience. My husband felt so at peace while we were there, and it will be a time we will all look back on with happy memories. It is a beautiful area and I will pray that GOD will continue to work in and through you so that you all can return there.

Your precious family will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers as I keep up with your blog. Thank you for the specific prayer requests.
Blessings!

What a gorgeous girl. My family sends love and prayers to you. We have a 2 year old daughter with CF. I think it's wonderful and amazing that you are creating this blog and for making it possible for others to pray for your family! I too will spread the word on our blog, so that our family and friends will keep you in their prayers and thoughts.

Amazing pictures! A definite miracle to pray for!

Death is an inevitable fact of life and people die everyday. When you pray for an organ donor to be found for someone on a transplant list, you aren't praying that someone will die--rather you are praying that of all the people who will die that day, that one of them will be a matched donor for your loved one.

Emergency departments have a designated staff member (trained to do this) who ask family members of people who die if they will consider organ donation, even if there is no donor designation on the person's license. It is a much easier task--and decision for the family--if people make this designation themselves. Everyone needs to do this simple, life giving thing!

My angel's name is Beth, (Charity Elizabeth). Beth would have been 33. I would like to believe that had she would have found someone like you had she lived.

Many prayers being lifted up to heaven from here in South Florida for you and your girls.

Nate, your faith and Tricia's faith - well, heck, the faith of your whole darn family (I think I've read all their blogs! LOL!) has just really blessed me. It's not often that you get to see, firsthand, God moving in such a big way to bring people together in prayer.

Thank you for allowing all of us in the "blogosphere" to tag along on this amazing journey with you. God bless!

Echoing the comment above about registering as an organ donor. As a chaplain I am a "designated requestor" and those are very hard conversations to have with a family in shock and grief. It is *much* easier if their loved one has expressed this wish via registry, and can be very helpful in giving some sense of meaning and hope to what often seems nothing more than tragedy.

Congratulations on your beautiful little girl! I, too, had a baby girl in the NICU. And while our situation was not nearly as serious as yours, I know a little bit of what you are experiencing. When I read of your tears of joy at being able to touch your daughter for the first time, I too cried, remembering my own experience. Remember that there are many "NICU" parents out there who know a bit of what you are going through and are praying that God will give you the strength you need to make it through this season of your life. May God bless you, Tricia, and little Gwyneth.

She's so precious and your Story is AMAZING!
I just learned of a website where you can make beautiful, professional quality books (hard or softcover) very reasonably. Someday, when things settle down a bit, you may want to create a "blog book" to have a permanent keepsake of this remarkable journey... and share as a testimony to others of God's incredible, tender mercy.
Keeping you in prayer!

Gwyneth is beautiful, and she's in my prayers every night. I wrote an article about organ & tissue donation awhile back on my blog, here's the link: http://christysbookblog.blogspot.com/2007/06/organ-tissue-donation.html

It includes info about myths and how various religions view donation. Take care!
