(Bump) Contest 01

The contest is over! I'll announce the winner of March 8, 2008.

You can help select the song that I will use for Gwyneth's 2 month birthday video on March 8! You give me your suggestion, and I will choose the song I like best. Winner gets nothing more than a "thank you" and their name/handle posted on my blog!

Here are the rules of the contest:

1) Each person only gets ONE entry, so make it a good one. It can be serious or silly...I promise to check out each suggestion. If you give me more than one song, I'll delete your post and you'll be disqualified from the really awesome prize.

2) No Country Music.

3) No songs with cursing or explicit content.

4) No songs about elephants or paper clips (because I said so). :)

5) Give me the title and artist so I don't have to go searching all over to try to find it.

Have fun!

Nate

I used it for my daughter's video and everyone loved it. You can see it on my oldest daughter's caringbridge site under the Links section. There's also a CF video for our Louisville, KY CF patients to be used for fundraising. A video I made for my oldest daughter who has CF is also on the site. It was a great song too.

In My Daughter's Eyes

by: Martina Mcbride

In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I want to be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes
Everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light
And the world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me
Gives me strength when I'm weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

It's hangin' on when your heart
Is had enough
It's givin' more when you feel like givin' up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes
I can see the future
A reflection of who I am
And what we'll be
And though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone
I hope you'll see
How happy she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes

Feel - feel - feel -

I feel so real
I feel so real

I feel so real and I owe it all to you.

Oh
I feel so nice with you here by my side.
If I just do the best
that I can do it seems that's enough for you.
The little things mean so much
a smile or a joyful touch

That push that keeps me going strong to know that I belong

and I feel so real
I feel so real
. . .

Love is such a wonderful thing

the angels sing and freedom reigns

Freedom from the chains that hold us back from harmony.
I'm right here on my knees to thank you
for the air that I breath.
I thank you for the life that you have saved

That's why I've got to say:
Feel so real
I feel so real
. . .
Feel so real
feel so real
feel so real

Feel so real
feel so real
feel so real.

I only made it through the last 200 suggestions... Several people suggested a song by the Dixie Chicks called "Lullaby". I'm not familiar with those lyrics, but I've always been particularly fond of Billy Joel's "Lullabye". I could never sing it to my kids when they were babies because I couldn't make it the whole way through the song without crying. Not only are the words beautiful, but the melody is so very pretty and soothing.. You should really love the reference to the boat on the emerald bay and rocking out on the ocean... :-)

PICK ME--PICK ME!!! (The words)

Goodnight, my angel
Time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Wherever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away

Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay
And like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
The water's dark
And deep inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me

Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry
And if you sing this lullabye
Then in your heart
There will always be a part of me

Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabyes go on and on...
They never die
That's how you
And I
Will be

"Closer" by Better Than Ezra

And the morning light was breaking
slowly moving across the bed
he gets up without her waking
to the voices in his head

through the shadows in the hallway
to the room they painted blue
and on the inside he is frightened
at a loss for what to do

until he opens up his eyes
and the angels all look down

even closer than this life
closer than your faith
closer than the things that you hold dearly
and in vain
closer than this life
falling through again
giving more than anything
that you could hope to win

and he knows his life is changing
it's never easy letting go
for the first time you are mortal
as the child before you grows
and he wonders at the sight
of the joy that he has found

even closer than this life
closer than your faith
closer than the things that you hold dearly
and in vain
closer than this life
falling through again
giving more than anything
that you could hope to win

and what would you intend to find?
solitude? your peace of mind?
holding out for something less
than touching the hand of god?

even closer than this life
closer than this faith
closer than the things that you hold dearly
and in vain
closer than this life
falling through again
giving more than anything
that you could hope to win

closer than this life
closer finally
living for the only thing
you ever made complete
oh, for the one thing
that you both did perfectly

I was a little hasty posting my suggestion. The only way When You Dream by BNL would work is if you changed some of the lyrics and sang it yourself. I had forgotten that the song has a vague reference to reincarnation in one of the lines, and I do not endorse that belief. Sorry about that.
Also, you would need to change some of the other words to make it for your daughter rather than for a son.

About the song Wire according to Wikipeda.
Athlete's second album, Tourist, reached Number One in the UK Album Charts in its first week, following the huge success of single "Wires", the song was brought around when the lead singer's newborn baby was rushed to intensive care after a premature birth, which in 2006, won them the Ivor Novello Award for "Best Contemporary Song". This video on Youtube is about premies. My teenage son wanted me to let you know. He thought of you when he saw it.

ATHLETE LYRICS

"Wires"

You got wires, going in
You got wires, coming out of your skin
You got tears, making tracks
I got tears, that are scared of the facts

Running, down corridors through, automatic doors
Got to get to you, got to see this through
I see hope is here, in a plastic box
I've seen christmas lights, reflect in your eyes

You got wires, going in
You got wires, coming out of your skin
There's dry blood, on your wrist
Your dry blood on my fingertip

Running, down corridoors through, automatic doors
Got to get to you, got to see this through
First night of your life, curled up on your own
Looking at you now, you would never know

I see it in your eyes, I see it in your eyes
You'll be alright
I see it in your eyes, I see it in your eyes
You'll be alright
Alright
Running, down corridors through, automatic doors
Got to get to you, got to see this through
I see hope is here, in a plastic box
I've seen christmas lights, reflect in your eyes
down corridors, through automatic doors
Got to get to you, got to see this through
First night of your life, curled up on your own
Looking at you now, you would never know.

My Oh My
How can someone so beautiful
Be mine
When you smile that smile
Like a flower blooming in the garden of my life
Well you came to me like a sunrise in the sky
When I look at you my world just seems to shine

Heaven above is looking at you
You can make the angels smile
Until now I never knew love
But looking at you
I see what the hand of God can do
Looking at you

With eyes so bright
And the sweetest laughter I've ever known
Day and night
It is the joy to watch you as you grow
You came to me like a gentle healing rain
My soul revies at the mention of your name

Heaven above is looking at you
You can make the angels smile
Until now I never knew love
But looking at you '
I see what the hand of God can do.
Looking at you

I can wait a thousand lifetimes
for one glmpse of your smile
one look in your eyes.

Heaven above is looking at you

I love looking at you

ok I realize that this one is country and I KNOW you said no country - even if you don't choose it just read the words. I love this song and always think of my son when I hear it.

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
and each road leads you where you wanna go,
and if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
if it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile.
But more than anything, more than anything...

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but you never forget,
all the ones who love you, in the place you left,

I hope you always forgive, and you never regret, and you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
and always give more than you take.
But More than anything, yeah, more than anything...

Yeah.

Always be Your Baby
By: Natalie Grant

You were my first love
Always there for me
You taught me how me to walk and how to dream
God gave me your eyes
But it was you who showed me how to see
Now I can stand on my own
But I know you'll never let go

I'll always be your baby
No matter how the years fly by
The way you loved me
Made me who I am in this world
I'm a woman now
Not a little girl
Wherever this life takes me
I'll always be your baby

You are my hero
And that will never change
You still can dry my tears with just your smile
The one I've leaned on
From my first steps
To walking down the aisle
Now there's another man in my life
[ Always Be Your Baby lyrics found on http://www.completealbumlyrics.com ]
But I know by the look in your eyes

I'll always be your baby
No matter how the years fly by
The way you loved me
Made me who I am in this world
I'm a woman now
Not a little girl
Wherever this life takes me
I'll always be your baby

Your faith, your love and all that you believe
Have come to be the strongest part of me

And I will always be your baby
No matter how the years fly by
The way you loved me
Made me who I am in this world
I'm a woman now
Not a little girl
Wherever this life takes me
I'll always be your baby

I think the perfect song would be Fingerprints of God by Steven Curtis Chapman

I can see the tears filling your eyes
And I know where theyre coming from
Theyre coming from a heart thats broken in two
By what you dont see
The person in the mirror
Doesnt look like the magazine
Oh but when I look at you its clear to me that

I can see the fingerprints of god
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of god
And I know its true
Youre a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And youre covered with the fingerprints of god

Never has there been and never again
Will there be another you
Fashioned by gods hand
And perfectly planned
To be just who you are
And what hes been creating
Since the first beat of your heart
Is a living breathing priceless work of art and

Just look at you
Youre a wonder in the making
Oh and gods not through no
In fact hes just getting started and

I did not read all 540 posts so this may have already been suggested ---
"Find Your Wings" - Mark Harris
Here are the words....

It's only for a moment you are mine to hold
The plans that heaven has for you
Will all too soon unfold
So many different prayers I'll pray
For all that you might do
But most of all I'll want to know
You're walking in the truth
And If I never told you
I want you to know
As I watch you grow

Chorus:
I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things
I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings

May passion be the wind
That leads you through your days
And may conviction keep you strong
Guide you on your way
May there be many moments
That make your life so sweet
Oh, but more than memories

Chorus:

It's not living if you don't reach for the sky
I'll have tears as you take off
But I'll cheer as you fly

Chorus

He's Always Been Faithful by Sara Groves

Morning by morning I wake up to find
the power and comfort of God's hand in mine.
Season by season I watch him amazed, in
awe of the mystery of his perfect ways

CHORUS:
All I have need of his hand will provide.
He's always been faithful to me

I can't remember a trial or a pain he did
not recycle to bring me gain. I can't
remember one single regret in serving
God only and trusting his hand

CHORUS

This is my anthem, this is my song, the
theme of the stories I've heard for so long.
God has been faithful, he will be again.
His loving compassion, it knows no end.

CHORUS

Sara Evans - I could not ask for more

Lyin here with you
Listenin to the rain
Smilin just to see
A smile upon your face

These are the moments
I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments
I'll remembered all my life
I've found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more

Lookin in your eyes
Seein all Ineed
Eerything you are

These are the moments
I know heaven must exist
These are the moments
I know all I need this
I've found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more

I could not ask for more then this time together
I could not ask for more then this time with you
Every prayer has been answered
Every dream has come true

Is right where I'm meant to be
Here with you, here with me

The perfect song played on my CD player today. It is by John Denver. No, it is not a country song! It is a beautiful song called "The Gift You Are" Here are the lyrics:

The Gift You Are

Imagine a month of Sundays
Each one a cloudy day
Imagine the moment the sun came shining through
Imagine that ray of sunshine as you

Remember your darkest hour
With dawn still far away
Remember the way that you longed for mornings light
And think of yourself as a candle in the night

Make believe this is the first day
Everything all brand new
Make believe that the sun is your own lucky star
And then understand the kind of gift you are

The gift you are
like the very first breath of spring
The gift you are
all the joy that love can bring
The gift you are
all of our dreams come true
The gift you are
the gift of you

You are the promise of all the ages
You are the Prodigal Son
You are the vision of prophets and sages
You are the only one

Dream of a bright tomorrow
Know that your dream will come true
Carry your dream in a sparkling crystal jar
Then you will know the kind of gift you are

The gift you are
like the very first breath of spring
The gift you are
all the joy that love can bring
The gift you are
all of our dreams come true
The gift you are
the gift of you

The gift you are
like the very first breath of springtime
The gift you are
all the joy that love can bring
The gift you are
all of our dreams come true - yes they do
The gift you are
the gift of you
The gift you are
the gift of you

Words and music by John Denver

Oh my...I don't even know how you are going to even get a chance to read all of these!!! The great thing is that you will have many many months to use several of your choices!

I get the feeling that you guys are totally living this song out, I don't think that you would change anything about your journey...and I read about you everyday celebrating the miracle of the moment!

Miracle of the Moment by Steven Curtis Chapman

V1: It's time for letting go,
all of our "if only's" cuz we don't have a time machine.
And even if we did, would we really want to use it; would we really wanna go change everything.
Cuz we are who and where and what we are for now. And this is the only moment we can do anything about...

Chorus: So breathe it in and breathe it out, listen to your heartbeat, there's a wonder in the here and now; it's right there in front of you and I don't want you to miss the miracle of the moment.

V2: There's only one who knows, what's really out there waiting, to and all the moments yet to be. And all we need to know, is he's out there waiting, to him the future's history. He has given us a treasure called "right now" this is the only moment we can do anything about....

I suggest "You" by Jaci Velasquez. It is such a lovely song about the beautiful things that God has done:

"Who makes
The sun light up my shadows
When the darkness tries to follow me
Who makes
The air that brings me life
So I can breathe the love that's given to me

CHORUS:
You make everything good
Everything wonderful
You grace my days
And heaven fills my view
Let's forever sing
You make everything pure
Everything beautiful
You make me see the only thing that's true
It's you

Who makes
The waters of my sorrow part
And leads the gladness into my heart
Who makes
The rivers run that wash away
And clean my soul to make a new start

You hung the moon
You placed the stars that shine your love for me
I hope all that I do
Will show reflections of you"
