Update

Tricia got a little bit of sleep this morning, but just a few minutes. She's being given some meds to help her out.

Thanks to those who are suggesting things for the sleep. We appreciate that. I'm sorry I can't respond to every individual post.

We've had a name picked out forever, so no need for those suggestions...and it was pretty easy. I'll tell you soon. Some of our family knows, but you can't pester them. Here's a hint: she will be named after her mother.

Nate

Nate,

Just because you have blue gloves doesn't make you a nurse. I think you have to go to school for that.

Just wanted to offer some encouragement by telling you of my experience with a crisis pregnancy.

With my first 3 babies I had complications, and each time it got worse. The third one was so bad I almost lost the baby. After my third one I was told that if I got pregnant again the baby WOULD be stillborn and I could have a heart attack or stroke.

After cancelling 2 appointments to have my tubes tied (God told me to both times) I got pregnant again. I was referred to a ob/gyn who I chose because he was pro-life. I also found out part way through my pregnancy that he was born again and prayed for me daily.

Anyway, an unexpected complication (placenta previa -- the placenta covered my cervix, which often kills the mother and/or baby) happened early in the pregnancy. But God cleared it up after prayer.

Then the complication that had threatened my other 3 pregnancies (pre-eclampsia) didn't happen until I was 8 1/2 months, compared to 6 to 7 months for the other 3.

Because it was later in the pregnancy they were able to induce labour, and both of us came through it fine.

Today Rebekah is a healthy 8 year old and so full of faith that it amazes everyone who knows her. She is a true servant of God and has an incredible burden for the unsaved.

I thought this may encourage you.

Words could never express our thanks for each and evey person that has taken a portion of their time to become involved in our family's need at this time. The care by the staff has been fantastic. Nate has been a real blessing as we see his hands on care and loving concern for Tricia's every need. Your care for our family in all areas is greatly appreciated. Don & Agnes

I check a few times a day for updates and am glad for each one we get. I know it takes time to do each blog entry!
I'm praying fervently for you and have passed it along. Tricia has seen that I'm copying some of Nate's blogs on the cf.com site for people, to keep them "in the know." I don't know you guys but feel like I do and I love you. I know what it's like to struggle to get that CO2 out and get some O2, but the rest of the struggles I don't know.
Love your new haircut, Tricia! It looks great and I'm sure it feels great! Glad you got some sleep this AM and hope you get more and get out of that ICU!!!
I'm praying regarding your special date for your little girl! Debbi (Aspiemom)

Hi, Your friend posted on harpcolumn.com that you'd like
a harpist to play for Tricia.
I would be honored. I play often
bedside for people in crisis.
I live in Raleigh where I play
with the North Carolina Symphony.
It would be an honor to play for her. We are offering prayers for
her and your dear child. My
email is 47strings at bellsouth
dot net. Duke has great staff.
If Alison Dimsdale is still working
on the transplant unit, give
her my love.

Today as I was praying for you, God brought my Pastor and his wife to my mind. I want to share their story with you...

They went in for their 20 week ultrasound expecting to find out the sex of their 4th baby. Instead they realized that she had gone into pre-term labor and was immediately rushed to the hospital. She was put on numerous medications and forced to lay flat on her back. Several weeks passed and it became clear that they couldn't stop the labor any longer. Their daughter was born at just 24 weeks gestation.

According to the doctors, they expected their daughter to suffer from some type of disabilities or developmental delays, if she survived at all. I am happy to tell you that she is now a happy and perfectly healthy 4 year old. She is a walking testimony to the faithfulness of God.

It doesn't matter what the doctors say or what the prognosis looks like. God is a God of miracles. I am praying expectantly for a miracle for Tricia and your precious little girl.

Nate and Tricia,
I found your blog through another friends blog, who linked to you through another friend and so it goes! Isn't it amazing how word spreads. Your story is one of amazing faith! I was reading your blog late last night when my seven year old wandered out of his room complaining that he couldn't sleep. He leaned over my shoulder and read along with me for a bit, and then he said "mom, I want to pray for these people right now" and that is what he did. It was an amazing moment that God used to open my eyes through the faith of a child. We will continue to pray for you and your unborn daughter. I will be back often for updates.

Reading your blog has become the highlight of my day. I have been encouraged by Tricia, Nate and all the stories people have been sending you. I am sure they are uplifting to you as well. Tricia's hair cut is very cute but I don't know about the blue hands. Don't worry about anything here between Roxanne and me we will get the money in the right place! We miss you both and I pray several times through out the day for you. Sometimes when I am not sure what specifically to pray for I ask the Holy Spirit to relay your most important need to God. Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
