Isaiah 40

Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or, whine, Israel, saying,
"God has lost track of me.
He doesn't care what happens to me"?
Don't you know anything? Haven't you been listening?
God doesn't come and go. God lasts.
He's Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn't get tired out, doesn't pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don't get tired,
they walk and don't lag behind.

Psalm 121
A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;

8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

One of my favourite worship songs is Strength will rise by Brenton Brown & Ken Riley.
I think it is based on these verses.
The chorus is
"You are the everlasting God,
The everlasting God.
You do not faint, You won't grow weary.
You're the defender of the weak,
You comfort those in need.
You lift us up on wings like eagles."
I love the image of God defending the weak. Especialy if I have dragged my less than perfect self to church in a broken state.
If I may I will use these words to pray for you guys.

This song from Hillsong was constantly running through my mind as I read the posts from yesterday and the early hours of today:

I will bless the Lord forever
I will trust Him at all times
He has delivered me from all fear
He has set my feet upon a rock
I will not be moved
And I'll say of the Lord

You are my shield, my strength
My portion, deliverer
My shelter, strong tower
My very present help in time of need

Blessing His name in all things, and continuing in prayer for all who will be a part of Tricia's transplant when it is time...

I've been reading along and praying along with you and have been so inspired by your story.

I just came across a poem again that I wanted to share with your family, as it has touched my life so deeply.

He Giveth More
by Annie Johnson Flint

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added affliction he addeth his mercy,
To multiplied trials, his multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
His love has no limit, his grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of his infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.

I know that the Lord, through his infinite riches in Jesus will continue to give and give to your family and to all of the families (donor family?) that may become involved in this. May you feel his peace.

We must never forget to count our blessings even during times of disappointment. "Wait" by Russell Kelfer

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried;
Quietly, patiently, lovingly, God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate
. . . And the Master so gently said, "Wait."

"Wait? you say wait?" my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith I have asked, and I'm claiming your Word.

"My future and all to which I relate
Hangs in the balance, and you tell me to wait?
I'm needing a 'yes', a go-ahead sign,
Or even a 'no' to which I can resign.

"You promised, dear Lord, that if we believe,
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord I've been asking, and this is my cry:
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply."

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate,
As my Master replied again, "Wait."
So I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut,
And grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting for what?"

He seemed then to kneel, and His eyes met with mine
. . . and He tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.

"I could give all you seek and pleased you would be.
You'd have what you want, but you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of my love for each saint.
You'd not know the power that I give to the faint.

"You'd not learn to see through clouds of despair;
You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there.
You'd not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence are all you can see.

"You'd never experience the fullness of love
When the peace of My spirit descends like a dove.
You would know that I give, and I save, for a start,
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

"The glow of my comfort late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that's beyond getting just what you ask
From an infinite God who makes what you have last.

"You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that My grace is sufficient for thee.
Yes, your dearest dreams overnight would come true,
But, oh, the loss, if you missed what I'm doing in you.

"So, be silent, my child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to truly know me.
And though oft My answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still . . . Wait."

This was our scripture from yesterday's service. Our pastor asked us to shout out the different parts of the verse that caught our attention. I liked the part about how we are shielded by God's power. It made me think of a super hero. I pray today that you too are all shielded by God's power.

1Peter 1:3-9
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Nate and Tricia,

This is my first time commenting, but I have been reading for a couple of weeks now (and have gone back and read a lot from the past). Your story is one that speaks volumes for our Lord -- the peace that fills you that surpasses understanding, the faith and perseverance that only He can provide through suffering, the love that you show to each other. You are an example to us all by the power of His Spirit, and your story gives me the courage to face any trials that are ahead in my life. Thank you for allowing all of us to see into your lives and to participate through prayer.

Tricia, may you get the right set of lungs soon!

When the right lungs come, they will also come from just the right person and family and I have a feeling you will have an opportunity to minister to the family as God orchestrates the whole series of events. I just heard about your blog today from a mom of a trached little boy. My now 4 y/o daughter lived with a trach for 18 months mostly due to anatomical/airway issues. She spent 6 months in the NICU and Level 2 nurseries before she came home. It was a scary time, but one I remember so well. During one of our "down" times where things weren't going as well, another friend of mine with a trached child commented how she'd "learned to be content in all circumstances." God calls us to do that, to lean on Him, trust in Him. His will is always supreme, even if we don't understand His reasons at the time. Anyway, her words have stuck with me. I remember them when times get tough, and I aspire to be content in all situations. It's not easy because I kind of like to "run my own show," but I'm working really hard on letting God run it for me.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family and those of the donor family. It's not easy to stay strong, but I truly believe God has very special plans for your family.

Blessings,
Robin
